《King of Freaks ✔》Chapter 16

with Jared today, and after that crazy kidnappings, I felt like I needed someone else with me. So I invited Gemini, whom of course invited Grayson as well. It turns out, they're very much alike, and I guess that's just how they molded together. Although they do crash sometimes since they're both super bipolar, they get around. Anyways, we were at Walmart, Jared and me acting like idiots while Gemini and Gray acted like proper young adults.
"Bryn, go faster!" Jared yelled as I pushed him on the rolling cart. He grabbed a large bag of skittles on our way, while we both laughed in excitement.
"Wait, s-slow down! Bryn slow down!" He yelled. I was so caught up, I didn't see the guy in front of us. I made a raggedy turn, losing control of the cart when we suddenly knocked into a pile of toilet paper. I groaned while Jared frantically got up and ran off. I quickly got up, looking at Jared's retreating form.
"S-sorry!" I apologized to the guy. He had a look of shock plastered on his face, but I didn't think of it. I quickly ran off, wanting to find Jared. I finally found him, leaning against an aisle, panting with tears threatening to fall from his eyes.
"Jared? Are you okay? Are you bleeding?" I asked, searching for the source of his pain. But then I realized, it wasn't physical pain; it was emotional. Jared started pointing at the direction of our accident, taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
"T-that was my big brother." He said, running a hand through his hair. "H-he saw me, Bryn! We need to get out of here."
"Hey, what's wrong with seeing your brother?" I asked, grabbing his forearm to stop him from running.

"He's family Bryn, and family is what kicked me out of my home." He replied, yanking me towards Gray and Gemini. They had to ponder faces on upon seeing Jared's teary one.
"What's wrong?" Gemini asks, genuinely concerned.
"Nothing, we kinda just crashed," Jared replied.
"Dammit Bryn, I was telling you not to go too fast," Gemini mumbled, more to herself than scolding me. I looked at Jared, and he looked at me, but his eyes went wide at something behind me.
"Yep! So yes, let's go, guys, I'm really hungry. We should go for some Buffalo Wild Wings, yea? Okay." Jared hurriedly said, yanking Gray towards to doors, his large frame covering him. I look behind me but saw the guy there instead. I realized he saw Jared trying to hide from him, a pained look on his face. I felt bad for him, but I'm respecting Jared's wishes.
So I turned and walked away.
~
A few days have gone by since the little Jared incident, and he's been fidgety ever since.
"My family is supposed to live a city away. What the hell is my brother doing here?" Jared exclaimed at Eliazer.
"Honestly dude, I think they moved over here," Eliazer replied. He's been really swift at avoiding to talk to me under any circumstances. Yea, we could be in the same room, but he's really good at making 'no talk'.
"My family can't be here. That's means I'm gonna be bumping into them all the fucking time!" Jared yells, laying his head on the table with a frustrated groan.
"I don't know what to tell you, buddy, you gotta face your fears sometimes," Eliazer said, walking away while patting his back.
After his footsteps went silent, Jared turned to look at me. "You saw them, didn't you." He whispered, a matter of factly. I nodded, casting my eyes downwards, guilty.

"How did you know?" I asked him. Jared chuckled, looking back at the door before looking at me.
"The atmosphere, I saw it. Plus, I'm his best friend. But he's gonna tell you when he's ready, just chill on it." He replied.
"I was being nosy, I didn't mean for that to happen. It's curiosity." I said, more to myself than to Jared. "I'm not settled, I need to apologize."
Jared shrugged his shoulders, a small smile tugging on his lips. "Do whatever you want Adkinson." He said.
"I got my own problems to deal with. N-not that you don't matter, I really do care what's going on between the two of you." He added, eyes wide.
"Yeah, I know." I laughed, Jared tends to get very flustered at times. "So what're gonna do about the family?"
"Well, it's like he said, I need to face it at some point. But they kicked me out, I understand why, but who does that to their son?" Jared said, anger getting the best of him.
"You should face your brother first. Were you guys close?"
"Very."
"Hmm, makes sense."
"How?"
"He made this sad face when he saw you miserably run away."
"It wasn't miserable, I was too nervous. It was a perfect escape plan."
"Yeah sure, and my dog can walk through walls."
"How is that even relevant?"
"It's not, I just wanted to say it!" I fought back.
"Bryn, jus-just stop, you suck at this," Jared said, running into the kitchen.
"At what? We're not doing anything you lunatic!" I exclaimed, following him into the kitchen. "Oh my god! Chocolate!"
Chocolate is my ultimate favorite. Why? Because I surprisingly don't break out. Aspen, on the other hand, detests me for it. Sadly, he really cares about his face, and worry's if pimples form.
"Yeah, eat Eliazer's chocolates, Bryn, go ahead. He gave you permission through the other side of that door." Jared said, pointing at the door to Eliazer's room.
"Oh." I dumbly said, chocolates still in my mouth. "Just a few more..."
"I think that's it for now," Jared said, taking the bag of Hershey's Mini's way from me. "Stuff yourself with raisins, it's healthy."
I hate raisins.
I ignored Jared, apologizing to Eliazer clouding my mind. I went towards Eliazer's room, opening the door and closing it behind me.
"He-" My words cut off short when my eyes laid on the shocking scene in front of me.

Upheaval - The Gentle Apocalypse
The world is changing, but people carry on. Early in the summer, the world started changing. It is not known who first found out, but magic was real, or had become real. Of course, with the world as interconnected as it is, it took only two days for most people to know about it. Online groups sprang up, eager to test humanity’s collective new toy. Quickly, it was found out that it was all but harmless; there were (unconfirmed) reports of deaths as soon as the first day. Nevertheless, it is a novelty to most, trying it out like you’d try sports or a game. The world marches on as scientists set out to study this new phenomenon, to use it for furthering our collective knowledge and to understand it. But that won’t show any results any time soon; it is only five days since the “Reveal” meanwhile I’m out camping. I had planned this since March, to unwind from sixteen years of studying. Finally! Finally I am done with school! Getting a job is another matter… So I figured, with this magic stuff, why not try out meditating on it? I’ve enjoyed more than enough books and other media that at least some of the magic methods should be viable. Turns out, the world might not let me relax. R15+ Coarse language and adult themes. This story is finished.

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
