"Okay? What are you two up too?" I smirk and glance over the two of them, grabbing some of the hand santizer.

Both of them are grinning very widely and Nicolas was quick to closed down the computer. This is the one time a year people are aloud to keep secrets and be sneaky that I am perfectly okay with. As long as no ones health is at risk that is my only rule.

Jack slowly moves his computer off of the bed and sits in the chair. I place my computer on the counter and start going through the normal routine with Nicolas in checking all his vitals and physical condition.

Nicolas has gained much more strength in the last week that is surpising but excellent. His weight is still a little less than where I would prefer it to be but the loss of appetite has been lingering still. Really if we can get some other food options for him than it isn't to hard to get him to eat, bribery works folks.

"So things have been coming back better and so far no signs of infections which is the best thing. I do want to run a CT scan to make sure everything looks good there." I smile over to Jack.

"Sounds good." He nods.

"Do either of you have any questions on that?"

"I do." Nicolas speaks up.

I give him my full attention and sit on the bed with him.

"What will it show?"

"Well it takes a picture of the inside of your body for us and by seeing everything we can make sure the cancer hadn't tried to move anywhere else. Plus with this test it will show the areas no longer affected. Mainly, it is to see if we have to start the chemo back or not." I rub his arm.

"I hope not because that would make my back and knees hurt really bad and my tummy." Nicolas sighs.

"Let's think happy thoughts, okay? I don't think we will have to start them again because of the blood work results but this is just to do a double check."

"Okay." Nicolas nods with a smile.

"Much better. I prefer to see that handsome smile over a frown anytime." I laugh as he wraps his arms around me for his hugs he wants every morning and I am more than happy to give.

"Thank you for the tree Holly." Nicolas smiles up to me.

"Your more than welcome." I tickle his sides some to get that sweet laugh from him.

"What are you planning to do today?" I look to him.

"Watch some of my shows again. There isn't to much to do here." Nicolas sighs.

A spark of happiness goes through me that he at least seems to what to do something else. Meaning his energy levels are finally improving.

"What is it that you like to do little man? I may be able to help you do something."

"Build and play with trucks. That is some of my favorite things to do when Daddy isn't having me do my schoolwork."

Jack smiles over at Nicolas and I. "We have slacked a little on schoolwork, but I know you will be caught up and ahead in no time."

"I will Daddy." Nicolas nods.

I stand from the bed. "Give me just a little bit and I will be back." Smiling I grab my laptop and walk to the door.

"Promise?" Nicolas sighs.

"Don't I always come back to you." I smile and turn to him.

"Yeah, but I don't want to take from the other kids you are seeing too now." Nicolas frowns.

My heart breaks. "You are not taking anything away from them. I am making sure they are getting better and the proper care they need too. I promise I will be right back."

I get out the door and hand my computer to Jewels once it is locked. I go behind the counter and into the room with our supplies and in the corner is the toy section we keep just to help the children on the floor.

Finding two small trucks and a box of legos. I see that there is a tag stating they have been santized already, which saves me some time in not having to do that.

Jewels smiles at me when I walk back out and round the counter again to Nicolas's room.

I don't knock this time but just walk in with the items. Going over to the bed, Nicolas watches me closely as I sit next to him.

"I got you these that you can play with while you're here." I smile at him.

"Thank you Holly." Nicolas smiles but still looks a little sad.

I put the box on the bed and open my arms for him. Nicolas wastes no time diving back in my embrace.

"Nicolas, you are a very special little man to me and I have grown close to you and your Daddy since I have seen you. Please don't ever think I won't make time for you even if I clock out of work, you guys are all I think about. The tree and things I have done have been special just for you guys because you both hold a very special place in my heart."

I tear up and rub his back, as he relaxes into me more. Risking a glance over to Jack shows, he has the softest look on his face watching us. He mouths a quiet 'Thank You' and I barely nod, because I don't want a thank you. This for me is all true and I am just now vocalizing how I have felt.

Nicolas goes to playing with the little toys I brought in for him and I can't wait to give him the gifts I bought just for him to have and keep. His mood is better and it makes me smile.

I leave the room and work through the rest of my patients for the day. When Nicolas is fixing to be taken down for the CT scan, I step back into the room to help prep him for having it done.
