Work has kept me busy to where the ache in my chest is a dull one at the moment. I knew the moment that Jewels walked them out from being discharged, but I was in with another patient going over the new therapy schedule I want the young girl to start doing.

I am at my computer updating the chart when I feel a tap on my shoulder.

"I can't believe we actually passed." Massie's voice comes out excited.

"I am relieved it is over." I smile some.

"Are you busy?" She puts her computer next to mine.

"I got more patient cases this morning. No sooner than I got clocked in the Head Specialist came by to have me sign papers and I officially work here as a Pediatric Doctor."

"Same for me. Although, I am in between patients right now. There is a few mothers on L&D that will be delivering soon and I need a pediatric doctor to come in and do the newborn examines on them. Would you like to perform those?"

"Of course! Just have them put in the message for when I need to go down a floor to you guys." I feel a little giddy.

"The other pediatric phyiscian here is relieved that you are hired on and can take the work load now too." Massie giggles.

"Tell me about it because that is where I got even more patients from because now everything is being split in half. She wants to work nights and I work the day shift, which is more than fine with me."

"It is the same with me but there is two doctors during the day then two of them at night. We have one that is here along with the PA's but they just see patients for appointments in the clinic that we will see at the end of the pregnancies."

Jewels comes up to the counter and logs into the charts to see what she may need to do. "They are safely on the way home." She whispers.

I nod slowly.

"I am sorry they had to go home, Holly." Massie sighs.

"Me too, but this is no place for them to have to stay and he got better to where he didn't have too."

"Have you guys talked about anything further?" She asks quietly.

"I want to date and now it is just trying to meet up with them because of the things here I couldn't do it without getting in trouble. So we have to find each other now that they are out." I give a sad smile.

Massie gets a call with a mother fixing to birth and takes off. Jewels goes to doing what is needed to help with vitals and completing orders that I put in. The other nurses seem to be happy that I am officially hired on and now actually talk with me some since I am no longer just some intern.

Walking to the cafeteria to grab something for lunch on this small moment of calmness, my mind goes over how I may be able to find them. I know where Jack's shop is at and if anyone ask we still met up outside of the hospital. I just have to be careful because Nicolas is still my patient as he will be coming in for visits and checks.

I could possibly transfer his care to Dr. Moore in Oncology. With his anemia under control it would make sense and be easy for Dr. Moore to take over his case because he had assisted and signed off on documents at the beginning of Nicolas's care. Then no questions could be said about it all.

A message comes through on my computer just as I finish walking out of another patients room that Massie is fixing to need me there. I sign out and lock my computer handing it to Jewels as she got the alert first to tell me through the normal chain of response.

I hit the elevator button and go down one floor and walk into the patient room of the new mother. I stand off to the side and watch as Massie delivers the baby and the mother gets a few minutes of bonding time before the newborn is brought over for me to access her.

Going over all the checks that we do and we administer the vitamin K injection, the nurse takes the baby back to the new mother. Joy shots through me and it is then that my ovaries are wanting to explode.

This is something I would love to experience one day.

Work goes by in a blur and I am clocking out a little later than normal due to having to finish tending to patients. Then it was informing the night doctor of everything that happened today, which takes time as well. It is all a new routine that I am getting used too and already enjoying.

I change into my normal civilian clothes and walk to my car. I drive straight to town and see the lights are off in the shop, meaning they are closed for the night. I let out a small sigh and drive to the pizza place a few blocks down.

Once I got a hot sub from the place instead of pizza, I make my way to my house. I unlock the door and set everything in the tray by the door to kick my shoes off. I clean up quickly and sit on the couch with my hot sandwich only to flip the television on and eat my food.

It seems weird to be watching something that isn't a cartoon plus being home watching something. I got used to spending my free time with Jack and Nicolas. The only thing I can do is wonder how they may be settling in after finally being back home.

My eyes droop on their own and I clean up the trash. Walking to my bedroom I turn the bed down and simply strip out of all my clothing. The cool air hits me before I burrow down into the thick covers.

I love snow but hate the cold. I am weird but don't care. Flashes of Jack and Nicolas flash through in front of my closed eyelids as sleep comes easily. Making my heart warm and ache wanting to hear them again already.
