《Not Anyone | Vernon Chwe》Chapter 6

"I did want to go to this kind of place when I planned on going to this country...", I mumbled to myself the moment I got infront of a club.
I'm not planning on waisting myself in here, I just want to see how clubs looks like in this place. I've never been to many clubs but I just want to see how different it is from the few clubs that I went to.
I pursed my lips and took a deep breath before walking inside. Loud beating of the music and bright laser lights welcomed me. It was not as different, only the language that is.
My feet just led me to the counter and when I got there, I asked the bartender to give me one glass of any alcoholic drink. My plan was just one glass. One glass and that's it, but...
"This drink is really strong yet it's so addictive."
Out of my will, I asked the bartender for another glass, and one more, and one more after another.
I wondered why I wanted to drink so much, but everytime I try to get a rational reason, my ex is the one who pops up.
I loved him so much. I gave him everything I could, but in the end, all I received was his empty promises.
I want to forget him so much. I want to act like I don't know him, like we don't have a past and I was the only one who's broken, because he's happy with someone, but I can't seem to.
He's my first boyfriend. My first love. Maybe that's why I'm having a hard time moving on, because on the very first place, everything's still a first to me.
As I drink and drink, my eyes started to feel heavy and I got quite dizzy. Everybody's words seems to sound so incomprehensible. They all looked blurry, they multiplied...

Third person's pov
Many glasses of alcohol later...and without realizing it, Liv became drunk, she never intended to, knowing that she has no one to come for her if ever she'll waste herself but there she was, already heading to the dance floor, dancing with some random strangers, and no one can do anything about it.
The guys were holding her waist but she just giggled and even planted her face on their chests. They looked at her with their lustful stares that anyone can sense that there will probably be trouble.
She was dancing her heart out and they were just enjoying the sight of her doing so, dancing along.
For a long time, she just stayed like that, dancing and dancing that it made the guys around him tired and eventually left her.
With the will to forget everything that happened to her, along with it, she had forgotten to think more straight and think about the consequences if ever she does get drunk.
Somehow, Liv got a little breathless that she opened her eyes wide and looked for a table. Luckily, she found one and sat at one of the chairs there as she rested her head on the table, almost falling asleep.
"I hate you...!", She brought her arm up but in less than seconds, it dropped. "I don't want to hate her...but my subconscious mind does!"
"You shouldn't have asked me to go there!"
"...and witness everything..."
"Jerk...Jerk...Jerk...! I wanna forget you so bad..."
"...but why can't I?"
She straightened her head, but still with her eyes closed.
She head banged a lot but she just eventually bring her head back straight. She looked tired and sleepy but she was too intoxicated to even think on what to do.

Her head stayed still for a short moment, and after a short while she suddenly felt a presence infront of her. She slowly opened her eyes, only to see a familiar figure.
"Oh! Weren't you that stranger earlier at the park?", She pointed his face with her forefinger and giggled. "That handsome stranger...", She smiled ear to ear as her eyes became heavy again, causing her to momentarily close her eyes.
While him, on the other hand was smiling as well as he just stared at her. He went there inside not long ago and the moment he stepped inside, she caught his attention first thing. It surprised him, seeing her again but now, it was a bit different, she wasn't in her right mind.
"What are you doing here?", He gently asked her. Though he knew that he probably won't get a proper response, he just wanted to ask.
"I... don't know."
"You must have a reason."
"I... want to forget him."
'She must've went through a breakup.', he thought to himself. He didn't bother asking who it was and just decided to listen to her, if ever she wants to take it all out.
"I want to forget him already...but I can't seem to.", She chuckled. "Funny, isn't it?...What about you? Why are you here too?"
His lips parted a little. He tried to answer her question but he can't seem to be true to himself and admit what he went there for.
"Since you're not answering my first question...Can I ask another one?", She forced her eyes open and looked at his face, but unintentionally, her eyes went down to his chest.
Her eyebrows knitted, "Oh, weren't you that guy at the airport...? Who sat beside me...?",her lower lip thrusted out, "It's gotta be you..."
His brows furrowed. He did remember that he sat beside a woman back there at the airport, but he didn't got the chance to see her face, and so he also thought, 'Was it her?'
"Ahh! It doesn't matter. Anyway, I was just about to ask you a question..."
"Y—Yeah. Sure thing.", A smile crept on her face when she finally heard his familiar deep voice.
"Will you marry me?", She delightfully smiled at him. She badly wanted his boyfriend for years to ask her that question. She just wanted to get married. And funny how she's asking that once in a lifetime question to a person she barely knows.
However, he was taken aback by what she said. Well, he just never thought that someone would randomly ask him to get married. Everyone would get flustered, right?
"I'm just a stranger.", She pouted, earning a grin from him, showing his pretty gummy smile. "Do you want to get married to a stranger?"
She laughed, "My ex-boyfriend was once a stranger too. Isn't that enough reason for you to marry me?"
He chuckled, he found her quite fascinating that it interested him to know her more. He has never encountered a woman like her before and it really made him question a lot of things.
Staring at her state and head banging for quite a lot unconsciously made him smile, but it quickly subsided and his lips formed into an 'O' when her head was about to fall on the table, but good thing, before it could even make contact on the cold table, he managed to place his palm under her cheeks and made her rest her head on his warm arm.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
