"If I would've known you were going to take this long I would've picked up Alicia first." Asher said as she leaned on the doorway of William's bedroom. "Hey it takes time to look this good." William defended himself, "oh really? Because I remember when you first started school you were ready before I even got to your house, is there a certain boy at school that caught your eye Will?" Asher asked with a smirk towards her cousin.
"Keep your voice down my mom doesn't know." William said with a whisper. "You haven't told her yet?" Asher asked with surprise, "you told me you were going to tell her like two weeks ago." It was true William told her that he was because he was tired of hiding it from her.
"I was but when dad left I didn't want to add on to anything." Asher nodded with understanding knowing it's been hard for both William and his mom Kelsey. "I get it." Asher said nodding as William finally put on his shirt and grabbed his bag and walked out of his room with Asher trailing not too far behind. "I'm sorry for bringing that up." Asher said as the two got into her truck and headed towards Alicia's. "Its fine Ash, you didn't know I didn't tell her." William said smiling over at the redhead.
The ringing of Asher's phone cut off the small silence once she parked infront of Alicia's house. "Hello." Asher answered simply. "Where are you spitfire?" It was the oh so familiar voice of Emmett on the other end, "just got to Alicia's why?" Asher asked as the baked girl got into the back of Asher's truck.
"Jasper hasn't sat still since he saw Bella get to school without you." Emmett answered with a chuckle, Asher laughed and smiled, "tell him I'm on my way." Asher said she could see from the corner of her eye both William and Alicia smiling.
"Will do, later." Emmett said, "bye Emmett." And with that she hung up and started driving to school which was a straight shot from where Alicia lived. "Jazzy boy was worried about you." Alicia cooed from the backseat. "Shut up licia." Asher said not able to contain her laughter as she parked beside the Cullens in the school parking lot.
Before Asher could officially park the car William took the key out of ignition. "Will! I have to park the truck! Give me the key!" Asher yelled as William laughed and Alicia quickly got out. "You can still start the truck and park it you know." William said with a smirk, Asher huffed and looked around making sure no one was looking, the only ones that were was the Cullens, Alicia , and Bella. "I hate you." Asher said before letting out a spark of electricity into the truck hand holding in in it until she parked it.

"You're lucky we weren't on a hill." Asher said joining the others. "But we werent." William defended with a raised brow giving Bella and hug.
"Hey spitfire wicked electricity trick!" Emmett said hugging his close friend. "Shh keep it down." Asher said with a laugh before turning to Jasper who was just smiling at her. "What?" Asher asked with a smile looking up at her ex-boyfriend. "Nothing darling, let's go." Jasper said Asher smiled walking side by side with him in front of the rest of the family.

Asher stood by Alicia's locker with the brunette by her side waiting for William for lunch.
"I feel like we're always waiting on you Will." Alicia said as the tall boy joined his friends. "I-got held up." William said scratching the back of his neck, both girls laughed turning around to walk off when Asher ran into a chest. "Sorry-" Asher started but noticed the runes on the mysterious boy's arm.
"Just what this town needs." The boy said looking down at Asher and over at William and Alicia.
"Excuse me?" Asher said finally looking up and the boy and backing up next to her friends. "Its bad enough there vampires and shifters running around Forks, I didn't think we needed hybrid Gaurdians too." The boy said, "you're a guardian?" Alicia asked raising one of her perfect brows. "Obviously." The boy said motioning to the runes on his body.
"Hybrid Guardians? That's what we're going to be referred as?" William said crossing his arms over his chest. "That's what you are, half guardian half god and one of them just so happens to be involved with a vampire." The blonde boy said glaring at Asher.
"Come on man chill-" William said getting in between Asher and the boy endij g up getting slammed against the lockers his his arm against his throat. "Hey back off!" Asher said managing to push or throw the blonde off of William. "Watch your backs." The guy said walking off in a huff.
"Who the hell is that!?" Asher said helping William up. "New guy moved here when Jasper and his family came back, his name's Zachary Michael." Alicia said as the there walked into the cafeteria. "Gaurdian I'm guessing." Asher said smiling at Jasper as they made eye contact from across the cafeteria knowing he was listening in on the trios conversation.

"Yup and obviously dislikes hybrids like you and Willam as well as our friendly neighborhood vampires and wolves." Alicia said, "no kidding." Asher said sitting next to Jasper and Alice. "So Jess how's the speech coming along?" Asher asked smiling at the brunette in front of her. The two had become closer after the Cullens came back.
"Like I said beforr you got here i don't know this'll be my speech when I want everyone to throw diplomas at my head." Jessica said tearing the paper from the notebook off and crumpling it and throwing it at Mike making Asher stiffle a laugh earning a playful glare from the blonde.
Asher nodded, "it couldn't have been that bad, honestly Jess I saw you just wing it." Asher said smiling at the brunette, "she's Valedictorian Ash, she can't just 'wing it' but good suggestion I'll probably use that on essays." Angela said with a laugh, "Jess why not use that "what I wanna be when I grow up." one you told me about the other day?" Asher asked she smiled as Jessica's eyed lit up and smiled back, "this is why I love you." Jessica said Asher and the rest of the table laughed.
"I've decided to throw a party!" Alice said joining the conversations with her usual ecstatic voice that always made Asher smile and when she looked over at the other redhead beside Alice and herself she saw it put the same smile on Addison's face or 'Ashley Hale' which she goes by in public since Asher and 'Ashley' share very similar features.
"A party?" Ashley asked the girl beside her who just simply nodded.
"Why not? After all, how many times are we going to graduate high school?" Jasper said smirking over at his ex-girlfriend, Asher smile rolling her eyes at the blonde vampire.
"A party? At your place?" Angela asked obviously excited. Jessica smiled looking from Edward to the rest of the Cullens and Hales with a smile "I've never seen your house" Jessica said looking over at Asher.
"No one's seen their house."
"Actually Bella and I have been there-more than once" Asher said with a smirk, "that's because you two were dating two of them." Jessica said pointing at Edward and Jasper. "We haven't seen their house either but a party sounds fun." William said.
Asher saw Edwards shoulders tense, "another party Alice?" Asher knew Edward was on edge about the two girls coming over because of what happened at Bella's birthday, he's didn't know what would happen when the house was full of multiple humans.
"It'll be fun!" Alice chimed looking over at Asher for help, "yeah come on, a party couldn't hurt, lighten up Eddie boy." Asher said smiling cheeky at her best friend's boyfriend who visibly relaxed and rolled his eyes at his brother's ex and his best friend.
After a while Asher looked over at Alice seeing her lean back in her chair looking off blankly, no doubt having a vision, Asher nudged Jasper nodding her head towards the small vampire.
"Hey jinglebells?" Asher said using Bella's nickname that always seemed to put a smile on both of their faces. "Riding with me for dinner tonight of should we have Eddie boy here chauffeur us and I give Alicia the truck?" Asher asked once the girl looked at her. "I'll give the two of you a ride, but please don't call me your chauffeur Spitfire." Edward said smirking using the nickname Asher had mix feelings for.
Asher handed Alicia her truck keys "I'll pick it up in the morning." Asher felt a hand on her shoulder looking over she saw Jasper motioning her to come with most likely to talk.
"Yeah?" Asher asked as the two left the lunch table. "Alice had a vison." Jasper said "oh no really?" Asher said sarcastically Jasper rolled his eyes and couldn't help but smile at the girl he loves. "Do you know what it could be about?" Jasper then asked has he leaned on the lockers.
"Most likely Victoria."

CW: Contains mildly graphic scenes of violence/death, topics of unwanted pregnancy/abortion, scientific experimentation on sapient beings, depression/suicide, grief, and trauma. The tone of this fiction is often dark and distinctly dystopian in lighter shades of Margaret Atwood, though where there is darkness there is always hope and light. On Hiatus Until September When the School Year Begins and Mom This story takes a considerable amount of time and mental energy to complete. I thought I had enough backlog and time to post it as a serial while COVID kept my child home from school, but it turns out while I can quickly write other pieces, I cannot produce the quality I need with this one at an acceptable rate. We'll resume in September when my days are much freer. Thank you for your patience and stay tuned for a different storytelling romp more suited for a serial platform in the meantime.
