《Timeless》52

I'm sitting in the pick-up line, waiting for Joshua impatiently. Emmeline is sleeping soundly but I know it won't be long until she's crying for something. A tap on my window startles me. Joshua is looking at me with wide eyes. I laugh and roll the window down.
"Put your bag in the hatch and get in the back quietly. We still have to pick your brother up." I say.
"Why are you...what?" Josh asks looking to his left when he climbs in the car.
"That's your baby sister Emmeline Bella Buckingham. You can touch her and kiss her." I chuckle.
"She's so small." Josh eyes her in the car seat.
"Four pounds when she was born, she's gotten up to five though," I say going to the High School.
"Can I hold her when we get home?" Joshua questions.
"I don't see why not. As long as I can take a nap." I sigh stifling a yawn.
As soon as Mason sees me he gets in the car and slams the door and a loud wail echoes through the SUV.
"I'm sorry mom." He winces.
"I can't do anything while I'm driving. I'm sorry Joshua. Do you want to tell me what's wrong Mason?" I say over the crying.
"I just hate my History teacher." Mason groans.
"So you slam the car door?" I ask.
"I didn't know you'd have the baby. I'm sorry." Mason sighs.
"Is there anything I can do, call him to have a meeting?" I inquire.
"No, not this late in the year. We only have a few weeks left. Tell me about crier back there." He points.
"Her name is Emmeline Bella Buckingham. She was born on Monday at eight-twenty in the morning. She weighs five pounds, four when she was born and she's eighteen inches long. But, she has a heart mummer." I explain pulling into our driveway.
We spend my birthday quietly getting to know Emmeline. I've picked out her hungry cry, tired cry, and wet cry. Lindsey not so much. On Saturday without my knowledge people started coming at noon. My hair was pulled back in a ponytail and I was wearing Lindsey's old USC ratted Sweatshirt and my maternity jeans. I'll still look relatively pregnant for a few more weeks. First my parents, brother, sister-in-law, and Niece, which surprised me because they had to come all the way from Arizona. Then my mother-in-law, and Meredith and Christi and their children. Sheryl Crow and Sharon Celani aswell.

"So mom, you didn't have a baby shower and you didn't find out the gender, so now that little Emmeline is here, we're having a baby meet and greet," Sara explains.
I just sigh and chuckle.
***
Emmeline is five months old now. Joshua is eleven, Mason is sixteen and my sweet soon to be twenty-one year old is going to start her last year of Pre-Med. She's changed her focus from Obstetrics and Gynecology to Obstetrics and Cardiology. Claiming that the heart thing her sister went through fascinated her. She's already gotten into the UCLA med school, and she'll be interning at Cedars-Sinai during her summers.
I haven't been able to lose all the weight from this baby, I have a bit of unflattering pudge. It's been given the name of my pouch because I don't see it ever going away. No matter how hard I work. I was still packing on some pudge from Joshua's pregnancy and my Klonopin weight gain when I got pregnant, so I've learned to just accept it. Not happily though.
I quietly crawl out of bed and go into the nursery. Emmeline stares up at me with her wide brown eyes. They changed about two months ago. IF I thought she looked like me when she was brand new, now she's the spitting image.
"Good Morning my Emmeline." I smile bending over her crib. She babbles and reaches up for me to take her into my arms. So I do, and I kiss her little chubby cheeks.
While I feed her, her applesauce, I make breakfast for everyone else. Today is Sunday and for once we're all home. My album is in the final stages of editing and will be out early next year. Lindsey is starting an album and we're trying to spend as much time with our children as possible. My family breakfast today is French Toast.
"Oh dove, I can't wait until you can eat the meals that momma makes," I say kissing her little blonde head.

"Morning mom," Sara says coming into the kitchen her medical books in her hands.
"Morning sweet girl." I smile.
"Mom, what do you think about Engineering in the Army?" Mason comes down holding several pamphlets.
"You just turned sixteen." I sigh.
"I know mom, but I want to go into the army for a few years. They'll pay for my schooling. I really like building things and that's why I want to do engineering. I will have to serve for two years before they'll pay, but I don't think I would be in much danger if I'm building things." Mason defends.
"Mason, we have a college fund for you, and I'm going to tell you the same thing your father told Sara. We are multimillionaires, we can afford to send you to college." I say feeding the baby.
"I know but I want to do what Sara's doing. Just because my parents are Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, I don't want everything to be handed to me." Mason states.
"But the Army Mason. That's crazily dangerous." I sigh taking the breakfast out of the oven.
"Steph, if he wants to do it. He can. He'll be an adult." Lindsey says coming downstairs.
"I just want him to think about it. Happy Birthday, baby," I sigh kissing him.
"Exactly one year ago we found out that Emmy was going to be joining our family," Lindsey says taking her into his arms.
"Yes, we did." I smile serving up the food.
"She is quite the cutie," Sara says grabbing the baby's hand.
"What are we doing for Halloween?" Sara asks.
"Well my annual party of course. Sara, you're babysitting." I tell her.
"But Sam and I were going to go to her boyfriend's party," Sara whines and finishes off with a pout. Twenty years old my ass.
"Have Sam come here. Besides you need to bond with your baby sister. Josh is going to hang out with his friend Jeremy. I can't very well play host with a baby attached to me can I?" I say.
"Mom..." Sara groans.
"Sara..." I mimic.
***
For Halloween, I'm dressed as my usual witch and Lindsey is wearing a cowboy costume. We dressed Emmeline up as a little teddy bear.
"Look at you, Dove. My cute little teddy bear." I say kissing her all over and tickling her belly." She giggles up at me.
The doorbell rings at six thirty and I go answer it. Paul, Deb, and both of their kids come in.. Paul and Deb are both dressed as lumberjacks plaid, jeans, Paul is wearing boots, and Deb tennis shoes. Samantha looks angry, probably because she's missing her boyfriend's party. Micah is bogged down with video games and junk food. I'll find both him and Mason passed out by the end of the night, video games and snacks all over of them.
"Well, why do you two children look so sour?" I ask crossing my arms.
"I wanted to be in Calabasas at my boyfriend's party. Yours are cool, and you have so many celebrities coming over, but we're babysitting instead." Sam shrugs.
"Speaking of which, where is she?" Deb coos.
"In the living room. Lindsey and I have been taking so many pictures of her. Come on." I cheer leading them into the living room.

War Games
One day, Sam and Xander wake up to find themselves in a different world. They find out that the place they were in is called Origin and they became Warlords. They then get set along to a different world, one that might not be able to handle the massive change that they bring with them. The goal of Sam and Xander is to establish themselves in their world before two years since that was when the War Games are taking place. Sam and Xander would be put against other warlords of a different world. As both of the armies clashed, one might lose everything while the other gets stronger. My goal is 6 chapters a week. The story will include kingdom-building, war, and military strategy. The story is a working progress so any feedback is appreciated. If you find an error, please point it out in the comments and I will correct it as soon as I can.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.

The Beta Test
Our nameless narrator participates in a beta test for an early VRMMO game Meridian 60. That's not the real name but it captures the spirit of the adventure given the chronological and contextual era of the game. His character is unique and special but purely for mundane reasons and not because of any inherent or social significance. The first chapter which is mandatory to submit a story on RR serves as a bit of a prologue with some exposition, although I limited that to a reasonble level. I plan to begin releasing additional chapters starting Thursday, to align with the 48 hour submission approval process and also because I have something to do Wednesday. I haven't written anything but the summary and first chapter, nor have I plotted anything out. This is because my plan is to release roughly 34000 words a day, 10 chapters of ~12.5 pages each, for 3 days at which point the story will be complete. I'd have liked to plan for more but handling the interface tables and so forth needed for a data heavy litrpg slows down the writing process. 100k words is a bit short, a standard pre epic fantasy 300 page spec fic novel, but this is mostly a writing exercise and I am considering a longer project if I can maintain the pace. Probably do a different concept, maybe a dungeon core, over 5 days, since a 500 page novel is more common these days. Slight subversion of VRMMO stories Stat heavy/crunchy No paying your bills by gaming No out of game conspiracies No angst, interpersonal drama, or damsels/dudes in distress Schedule is 30000 words a day excepting the first chapter, a limitation of RRs fiction submission system Fantasy, high magic, male lead, no party, guild, or harem No gore, some profanity, no sexual content, and no current plans for anything traumatic

"Through all of the countless crap stories and recycled tales, Untouched is a rare diamond in the rough. With tantalizing descriptions and characters with incredible depth, T.K. Kotkoda paints a unique tale that is a much-need change from the stereotypical Paranormal story. It has been my pleasure to read it." - JDGRIMM - Highest Paranormal Rank: #28 [5 May 2017] -
