《Doomed to be a Cannon Fodder》07

I shivered.
Please stop threatening me.
"Miss He, please stop this foolishness!"
I tried to push her away but whoa, was she strong!
"Gentleman. Please listen me! I have a space!"
I cried inwardly.
I know!!
I know you have a space! I read the novel (before I died).
I immediately pushed her away.
"Please stop!"
My eyes widened as those words did not come out from my mouth.
I saw my taciturn Eldest Cousin pulling her up by the scruff and looking at her with a dark face.
"Miss He. My younger cousin has been ill for a while. I know the schemes and strategies of your illegal sisters has implicated you and my younger cousin more than once. But, to come here on your own and throw yourself at a man in a stranger's home... You really open my eyes."
Miss He was shocked with her mouth wide open.
She held onto her sleeves unbecomingly as tears pooled and fell.
I...
"Cousin, please put her dow-"
Okay.
Please don't death stare me like that.
My poor heart can't take it.
At the end, Miss He was unceremoniously thrown onto the floor.
She sniffled and finally looked up to me.
"Gentleman. I know you are an honourable one."
Mm.
No?
"And that night, I was really at wits end," she smiled at me fondly. "If Gentleman had not kindly worn clothes for me and called the doctor, I fear my sisters would have gotten the better of me that night."
I gulped.
No. The ML would have saved you.
Cousin...
Please don't look at me like that.
"So, to thank you, this humble servant would like to repay your kindness."
She clutched her sleeves and a small bottle fell out.
Before she could pass it to me, a hand had grabbed the bottle from her hands.

"Miss He. My cousin doesn't need this from you."
He frowned as he looked at me.
I also frowned when I looked at him.
No, I need it.
The living spring waters from the Heroine's space that kept one's youth, and solve a myriad of issues.
Yes I need it.
I turned to grab the bottle but my cousin's very very black eyes stopped me.
Immediately my hands stalled as I looked weakly at him and at Miss He.
"Miss He. I thank you for your kind act. But my illness is incurable."
I stood up weakly as I ushered her away.
"Please, leave. Miss He knows of my reputation. Staying any longer would be of no good to you."
Heroine teared up at my words.
"Gentleman. You are the best gentleman I have met so far. Your reputation are simple lies."
No.
This original body did enjoy visiting flowers at the brothels.
Even if the original didn't sleep with them but he did harass them.
"I do not believe someone who is as respectful of women as you would be as lecherous as what is said in the capital."
No.
The original really was rather mean to girls.
He has made countless women bald with his hair-pulling. Who decided that hair also is part of one's chastity?
"People in my world called men like you a ladies man, a gentleman who respects women!"
Please don't spout anything about your previous life.
This gentleman does not want to know.
"Gentleman Yang Ran. If I could marry you, I woule gladly do so! I'll let my father kno-"
.
...
Cousin.
She is a girl.
The heroine of the novel...
Your crush ah!
Why did you knock her unconscious?
Black-faced cousin went to give instructions to drop Miss He off back at her place.

With a wave, the hidden guard suavely nodded to the command, slung both Miss He and the fat mama over his shoulder, and flew off.
I looked at his shadow admiringly. To carry two women and fly off... That was really stuff of martial art movies indeed.
Before I could ruminate further, hands had covered my eyes.
"What are you looking at."
My heart fell.
"Older Cousin. Really. The thing that Miss He said was really untrue. All I did was threw clothes over her and ran!"
I turned around with grievance written on my pitiful face.
My grim-faced cousin looked at me and hmmphed.
...
Is this now turning into a bl novel?
Yes.
Yes, it was.
For as soon as I said that, my grim-faced cover grabbed me.
"Older Cousin!"
His handsome face was very near my own.
"I. Am. A. Man!" I gritted my teeth.
He finally smirked.
"So?"
Seething in anger, I had wanted to push him away.
"So Older Cousin should stop touching me wantonly as if we were still children!"
Finally, my older cousin's mensao nature was awakened when it was only two of us.
He immediately nipped my neck.
"Younger cousin. Your incurable illness... Is to delude yourself that you are a male now?"
I stiffened.
Zhao Prince sighed before he stared at me.
"Waiting for such a dull female to finally realise that she is a female, really is an experience this Prince never knew could be experienced."
He soothed my head and looked at me again.
"Like I have said, over and over again. Your bother's death is not your fault."
Immediately, faucets of water were released from my eyes.
This damn original.
"So you need to stop parading as him."
And the grim man looked at me gently.
"And Aunt need to stop spoiling you."
He immediately pushed me down to the floor, one finger digging into my chest bindings.
"Who are you trying to fool with this." He angrily muttered.
"If I hadn't sent Bai He to impersonate a maid for you, wouldn't the first time you wore female clothing be seen by all those perverse men?"
Really makes one angry!
Sweat was dripping greatly.
I think I might have misunderstood the novel.
After the cannon fodder was seen with the illegal sister, the cannon fodder was forced to marry her. He soon dies by the hand of his scheming new wife.
But perhaps...
This scheming cousin and mother of mine might have planned this all along.
Since I was schemed by the He illegal daughters, the scheming pair from my family probably thought it was a great time to finally get a ghost wife for brother and also for me to "die" at this time, to resume my female identity.
I did roughly recall that Zhao Prince did marry someone in the end.
Sweat dripped down.
"Older cousin. I-I-"
Zhao Fen looked at me with smug eyes.
"Sorry Yang Ran. I didn't wait all these years for you to be free from my grasp."
My older black-bellied cousin had his grip on me.
"This is a little earlier than expected... But let's get married, ne."
I cried tears inside.
To think that when I transmigrate over, that perverted man was not me. It was actually this black-bellied person before me.
Sobs sobs.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
