《Stocking Up On Love》10| The Good Part

Can we skip to the good part?
♡ ────── ♡ ────── ♡
It's been three days since Ethan and I have spoken to each other about something not work related. The only time we talk is if it's about a customer's order.
Mrs. Cooper walks in and tells us, "Can you guys unbox the orders that came in this morning and restock the shelves?"
"Okay." I say moving to the back. Ethan follows me into the room and spots the boxes.
After we finish unboxing everything he says, "Do you want to be the person who hands the products or the person who stands on the ladder?"
"I can stand on the ladder." I say shrugging. I carefully climb the ladder and Ethan starts to hand me the products.
30 minutes later we only have one more box to stock on the shelf. He continues to hand me the things when I notice we only have a few spots left on the shelf.
Nah that's too much work. I'll just tippy toe and stretch.
Ethan hands me two cans and I tippy toe to reach the end. "Do you need to move closer?" Ethan asks worried.
"No I can reach it." I say putting one of the cans on the shelf. I try to shove the other one in when I feel my feet cramp.
My foot slips off the ladder and I wait for my ankle to twist and break.
I feel someone catch me and I look up. We both freeze and I blush.
A few seconds later he puts me back on the ground and I say, "Woah that was like a crazy trust exercise."
"Did you just quote Frozen?" He asks giving me a small smile.
"You know your Disney movies." I say clapping.

Since we're done with the boxes Ethan leaves the cafe to throw them in the dumpster, while I go back to serving customers.
I go on my break when I see a few girls come in.
I'm about to walk into the break room when I hear one of the girls ask, "Could I get your number?"
"Uh... sorry I'm seeing someone." Ethan says trying not to be mean. That's okay! He probably would have gotten sick of me if I got the courage to ask him out. It just means I was saved from what could have been a sad break up!
"So you guys aren't serious?" The girls asks.
"I'm hoping it will be when I get the guts to talk to her." He says sighing.
"Well if it doesn't work out call me." She says probably handing him her number.
He sighs and says, "Got it."
While he makes their order I hear him rip a piece of paper and whispers, "There's no way in hell I would call her." He's a horrible whisperer.
I walk into the break room and decide to do some of my homework. Nope!
He deserves to be happy... Even if it means not being with me. I'll get over him. Just give me a few months.
Lol sure. Hey Ethan! I was eavesdropping when those girls came in and I was just wondering... Who are you seeing right now?
I ignore the rest of my thoughts and feelings and do my stupid homework.
Mrs. Cooper tells Ethan and I that we can go home so I grab my backpack and start to head out. I push the door open when I hear Ethan ask, "Wait, Red, can we talk?"
"I like you," I murmur quietly and quickly.

"What?" He asks, confused.
"Nothing, bye!..." I say, bolting out of the cafe.
Before the door closes I hear him shout, "Scarlett, wait!"
I try to unlock my car but panic. Oh my god which button unlocks my car?!
Before I reach my car Ethan grabs my wrist and pulls me towards him.
"Uh ya?" I ask finally pressing the right button.
"Did you just say you like me?" He asks giving me a shy smile.
"What?..." I say pretending to be confused.
"I could have heard wrong but I really hope I didn't..." He says blushing.
"And if you didn't?" I ask tilting my head.
"Then I would kiss you and ask you out on a date." He says smiling.
"Well then I don't think you heard wrong." I say blushing.
I put down my backpack and he cups my cheek. "Can I kiss you now?" He asks.
I tippy toe and say, "Go for it."
He smiles and presses his lips against mine. I pull him closer. Yes!
A few seconds later we separate but he keeps his forehead against mine. "Sorry I took so long to ask." He says scratching his neck.
"That's okay. I kept chickening out to ask too." I say laughing nervously.
"At least everything worked out in the end." He says wrapping his arms around my waist.
I peck his lips and say, "Me too."
"So um... Do you want to go on that date on Saturday?" He asks.
"I would love to." I say smiling.
He laughs and blurts out, "I was so nervous before I came out here. I'm literally shaking."
I grab his hand and say, "My hands are shaking! This dating thing is a lot scarier than I thought it would be."
His hand stops shaking and he immediately asks, "So we're dating now?"
I freeze and say, "Do you not want to call it that?"
"I'd like to say we're dating." He says.
"You made my heart stop for a second." I say placing my face against his chest.
"I'm sorry. I'm just really happy that you're finally mine. In a not object way." He says.
I laugh and hold him tight.

Savage Hunters
Giant monsters roam the land Civilization is frozen in a savage age. For the beast slayer Alden, power and survival are one and the same. The ancient evil that once ravaged his village and murdered his ancestors has returned. At the same time, politics hurls Alden and his crew into gladiator pit battles for control of the throne. When Alden takes possession of a cursed sword promising untold power, the hunter is determined to save his people by slaying every giant monster standing between him and the throne. But the angry ghost trapped inside the blade has other ideas. Buckle up for the brutal LitRPG ride of a lifetime Savage Hunters is an alternate-world neolothic fantasy. Characters grow their powers with explicit stat blocks presented right in the text, including levels, attribute scores, and unlockable skill trees. Experience is accumulated by battling enormous monsters the size of buildings. Political intrigue and romance elements ramp up as the series progresses. I originally wrote this story after playing Monster Hunter with my niece. She was 12 at the time, already an avid reader, and wanted to read my other published books. I'm a licensed psychotherapist specializing in severe trauma so I tend toward darker fiction. I told her my usual books are too brutal for her but I'd write her something special. The result was this series, which has been praised by both teens and adults for its depth and universal appeal. It begins with an emphasis on cultural elements because I consulted with a trained anthropologist to craft this neolithic setting down to exacting social detail. After these opening chapters, it rapidly shifts to an action-packed adventure. The first 3 books are fully written as of November 2020, totalling approximately 69 chapters. The first book has been professionally edited already. The following two books require some editing which I'll do on a chapter-by-chapter basis as releases progress. I welcome reviews and comments. Writing is a passion, and reader engagement makes my labor all the sweeter.
