《Lost Luna》quiet

"Sit."
I looked around the cabin as I sat with a frown. I kept my arms around myself as the claustrophobia tried to make its way into my brain. The walls were made of thin wooden mismatched planks, the roof made of dried grass. It stank of stale air but at least it was nice to sit in a chair. Albeit a plastic one.
"Name?"
I turned to look at greasy spitball who was staring downs some papers, pen in hand. I didn't know I was signing up for the army.
"Name pup!" He growled, eyes darting to look at me. "You dare look me in the eye?"
I shivered but held my ground. I was a Luna, I was strong. I was capable of fighting my own battles. I could do this.
I hope.
He slammed his hand on the table which made me wince, breaking the eye contact. He grumbled but turned back to the paperwork. Right, my name.
"Hope James," I spoke.
I watched as he scribbled my name down with a sneer, writing something about my appearance too. He looked up to study me, his eyes raking over my neck and shoulders making me shiver. Thank goodness I still wore the large t-shirt from training.
"Status?" He grunted after writing a clear UNMARKED on the page.
"Omega." I frowned.
"Pack?"
I hesitated, not wanting to reveal the pack name. But I was part of them as much as I could be. Besides, it would probably do me a favour with the twins...
I sighed. "Blood Moon."
He hummed in amusement. "Two Blood Moon in one hunt. Seems Alpha Titan needs to watch his borders more."
I frowned, my defences raising for my mate. "His borders are fine. If you hadn't used the poor baby-"
I was cut off as an incredible force slammed against my jaw and I fell off the chair to the ground. The wooden floor ached against my palms and cheek as I lay there. Tears spring to my eyes at the pain, memories of my old pack surfacing with vengeance.
"Do not speak to me like that you filthy Omega!" He snarled.
I nodded my head rapidly and backed myself against the wall. He was fuming at my disrespect. His eyes were obsidian, practically burning holes through my brain.
"Get her up." He snapped.
The guard silently hoisted me up by my shoulder and I allowed him to push me back into the chair. I crossed my arms over my body and avoided looking at anyone.
"Pray tell, do you have mate Omega?" He mused.
I shook my head. "N-no."

He hummed. "No? Such a weak little thing in a pack like Blood Moon is rather strange. Last I heard they didn't take on Omegas."
I winced when he spat chewing tobacco onto the floor beside me, a laugh escaping his lips. I took in a deep breath as I shook my head.
"I-I was a potential."
"Potential what?" He grumbled.
"Warrior."
He paused before bursting into laughter, even the guard joined in. My eyes snapped to his as he scrawled sentences onto the bottom of my page. He signed at the bottom before flicking my piece of paper to the side.
"Dismissed."
I frowned but made my way out of the cabin. I caught Miley's gaze and she grimaced at the rapid swelling of my jaw. I gave her a soft smile before I was forced to stand with the group of women.
I staggered as I reached them, some turning to stare at me. I was new; I had no idea what was going on.
Felicity suddenly appeared and took my hand. "Water is on this table and don't forget to stretch your muscles. If you gotta poop the toilet is a hole in the trees."
"Gross," I mumbled.
She let out a small giggle but took me to the water table. I could see a shimmering in the water, a rainbow-like effect on the surface.
"What is this?" I wondered.
"The medicine to stop your wolf. They put it in everything. You don't have to drink it but then you'll have nothing, so gotta pick your battles sweetheart." An older woman explained.
I grimaced but chose to not drink the water. Cel was strong and I hoped she'd come back because I felt like nothing without her. I could deal with no drink for a day in hopes to communicate with her.
We were left to stretch for another five minutes or so, the clearing fairly silent. I tried to walk around the camp, but a guard would come and threaten me back into the group. So, I stood to watch the interrogation cabin instead.
Eventually, the last girl left and was dragged over to the group; I counted eight new wolves. A couple of moments, later the greasy spitball left, hoisting up his combat trousers with the paperwork under his other arm. I kept my focus on him as he walked around the cages to the area we stood.
I kept my arms by my side when he stopped a few feet away. He sneered down at me, studying me once again. I held my ground but flinched when his dirty hand came to my face. His fingers roughly grabbed my jaw and turned my head to the side.

He tutted. "Slow healer too. Such a shame for such a pretty face."
I grimaced when he let go of me and reached my hand to rub at the pain. He chuckled but took a step away to look at the other women who stood beside me. They all stayed silent as he scrutinised us, not daring to speak.
"Very well. Back to your cage." He dismissed us before marching away.
The guard quickly began to push girls around and I sought the twins out to give them as much a reassuring smile as I could. I met up with Rose who stared at me with wide eyes. We crawled our way back into the cage before a guard slammed it shut, narrowly missing my foot.
The sounds of rattling cages hit the air as everyone else was forced to retreat into them. It took a minute or so before the clearing fell to silence again. The guards backed away to their posts and I let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you okay?" Rose asked.
I gave her a silent nod. I didn't want to speak much due to the ache in my jaw. We fell into silence again; the only sounds were heavy breathing or mumbles from the guards.
I needed a plan to get out of here. So far, I knew the cages were unlocked from the top, guards were everywhere, and we were allowed to stretch first thing in the morning. Escaping in the night would be easier but the narrow silver bars and lack of access to the lock make it difficult.
We had no wolves so no means to track, use strength or communicate with our pack. We could only speak when the guards deemed it okay too, so forming a plan with others would be difficult with so many ears.
A guard announced it was mealtime and I waited patiently until the cage opened and a tray of food was passed through. I was surprised at the contents; fruit, bread, meat, and even a sugary snack.
"Sugar?" I asked Rose.
She chuckled sarcastically. "They found women are in better moods with sugar."
I pursed my lips but nodded in agreement. I mean, a sugary snack was bound to keep any bad mood swings at bay for now.
I shook my head at the thought, staring down at the tray. I didn't feel hungry, my stomach churning at the thought of what else was in it. I decided to just eat the apple, hoping it wasn't a snow-white situation. I gave Rose my other things since the portions were so small and she took them gratefully.
The rest of the day was very boring, we spent the whole day in the cage. Rose and I spent a lot of the time in comfortable silence, and I was partially glad I was with someone who wasn't much a talker like me. I couldn't help but imagine being trapped with Molly; I think I would go deaf by day two.
As the sun set, I found myself staring above the treetops with an ache in my heart. I missed my friends and packmates. The thought of Molly had me smiling sadly to myself at just how much a friend I finally had.
I wondered if Sean was okay, that they didn't hurt or kill him. A worry settled in my stomach at the thought; I never saw him get back up. But being trapped here I could not do anything about it and that made the feeling worse.
The sun reached a bright golden orange, streaming its last light through the trees. My chest ached and my breathing felt shallow. I weirdly missed Phoenix and the sunsets we shared. How we would relax and just embrace each other's company. I missed the way the sun captured his features, the softness of his gaze and his words as he spoke to me.
I knew from being trapped in this cage that if I ever got out, I would not take my freedom for granted. I had finally begun to find freedom for myself in the pack. Things were finally looking up and I was beginning to trust people. I didn't stutter and I felt at one with my wolf.
I was scared. Lost without her. I have relied so much on so many people that I'm not sure how I'd cope on my own. Especially now I was back to basically being human. I had to somehow get through this on my own. For the first time, I needed to.
I felt tears drip down my chin and I wiped them away silently. Rose looked at me with sympathy and silently moved to sit beside me. I sighed sadly, taking comfort in the hand she held out for me. We were all in this together, each of us trapped and missing our old life. I just hoped we could get out of here before something terrible happens.
