《Lost Luna》brother

I blinked at Phoenix in confusion before bursting into laughter. He seemed so serious but what could he possibly mean meet my brother? Leo was right beside me, was he blind?

"Brother? My brother is here."

I looked up at Leo to see his lips set in a grim line. Looking around everyone was serious and I felt the laughter die down in my chest. My mind became muddled and I started to question if I was making this all up.

"I'm confused." I started.

Charlie chuckled and I glared at him so he just held his hands up.

"Once you're deemed healthy to stand and go, we will take you to him," Phoenix spoke.

"Take me to who?" I frowned.

"Your brother," Leo added.

"You're my brother." I stared at him. "Is this a mess with the sick person joke?"

Leo chuckled and shook his head. "Brother by adoption... A lot has happened Nova, you need to know."

I blinked in surprise. A blood brother? I thought all my blood family were killed? What had they discovered whilst I was gone? Why was it so serious?

I instinctively turned my attention back to Phoenix, his arms back to being crossed at his chest. Cel, although just as confused as I was, snapped out of her daze to purr at the sight of her mate. I knew he felt the pull because his eyes darkened at her approval. I felt myself blushing and looked away at my hands.

"Okay. Whatever this is, whatever is going on, I'll listen." I whispered.

"Good." Leo chuckled, nudging me.

I rolled my eyes, a smile playing on my lips. "So what now?"

Charlie grinned. "First of all, we are all going to leave so you can get yourself checked over."

I nodded as they all began to say goodbye and follow Charlie out of the room. Phoenix followed them and I felt my heart clench at the thought of being alone in here. But he didn't leave, simply held the door as his head disappeared behind it.

When he came back, Doctor Kate was following behind. She grinned at me, her eyes scanning my form on the bed.

"You're looking so much better." She chirped. "I will do what I did previously; check you over and your vitals. If you could eat your breakfast that would be great. Then once you look all good I'll take out your catheter."

My eyes widened at the thought I clenched my jaw together. She noticed my instant fear because her cool hand came to rest on my forearm.

"It's not bad, I promise. It's a little tube that I simply deflate and pull out. You will hardly feel it." She assured me.

Phoenix's soft expression came to stand beside me and he turned the hospital table so it was over me. I thanked him with a smile and picked up the croissant. It was a chocolate one, even better.

As I ate my breakfast and downed half a pitcher of water, courtesy of waiter Phoenix, Kate kept busy checking my obs. When I finished and it was time for the catheter I found myself squeezing my eyes shut and clenching the sheets in my fists. I hated hospitals.

Phoenix's warm hand covered one of mine in comfort and I darted my gaze to him. He gave me a small smile, unclenching my fingers with his own.

"There, all done. Wasn't that bad was it?" Kate chuckled taking her equipment away to the doctor's table.

I let out a breathy laugh and shook my head. "So am I okay to go?"

She nodded. "If you can walk from your bed to that wall."

I grinned, a determination to get out of this rancid place set within me. I began to pull off the blankets and slowly brought my legs to the side of the bed. I deeply inhaled as I slowly slid myself towards the edge of the bed, Phoenix hovering nearby.

When my feet met the floor and I let a little weight onto them, I could feel the soreness of my ankle. It felt sturdy but badly bruised. I knew I would have to be careful about it, feeling this weak could probably sprain with a wrong step.

Once completely off the bed, I kept a hold of the edge as I brought myself to standing upright. When I took my hand away I smiled in triumph. I focused my attention on stepping towards the spoken wall, taking each step hesitantly at first. I found it pretty easy, considering I'd run all the way here in the rain and broke my ankle.

I tapped the wall and with a smirk made my way back to the bed. I felt a little lightheaded and my muscles burned but it was easily ignored. See, not weak at all.

When I came back to where Phoenix stood he loosened his ready-to-pounce stance and smiled gently at me. I gave him a hesitant one back, still confused at his open affection. I still had a bone to pick with him, dang Alpha.

"Well, bravo." Kate chuckled. "You're good to go, feel free to change into something not as warm it's hot out there today. Just keep an eye out for any dizziness and make sure you pee within the next couple of hours okay?"

I blushed but nodded and with a bow, she turned to leave the room. "Thank you."

I sighed in contentment and the silence met my ears once she left. I cleared my throat before making my way to the bathroom. Phoenix watched me go with steady eyes until he disappeared from my eye-line.

I shut the door gently behind me and let out a shaky breath. His attention was throwing me. I was mad at him, so mad for what he's done. And hurt, for not accepting me right away. I was going to question him, interrogate him myself. But these women were my priority, I needed to get them safe. I owed it to them.

I slid off the warm woollen layers of clothing, standing nude. I decided to shower, rubbing away the remnants of the muddy forest that had been missed by a sponge clean. Once I was out and dry and I realised I didn't have any clothes.

I sighed and decided on the large polyester shirt, buttoning it to my collar. It was large and although I had been wearing it, it smelt so strongly of Phoenix. Thankfully it came to my knees and I chuckled at the absurdity. I rolled the sleeves to my elbows and made sure I was covered before leaving the room.

"There weren't any clothes in there so I put this back on, hope you don't mind."

His eyes darted to me and widened in surprise. I watched as they roamed my figure, darkening with desire. I shifted on my feet awkwardly, the fact I had no underwear on right now was definitely making it weird.

"Phoenix?" I urged.

He snapped his gaze back to my face and cleared his throat. "Yes of course. We'll go by your room to get properly dressed before we meet him."

I nodded in agreement and with a gesture of his hand, I made my way out of the room. I kept it steady as I walked; the awareness I was in nothing but Phoenix's shirt was overwhelming me.

I peaked a look at him as we made our way out of the building. He walked sternly behind me, his gaze fixed on ahead of us. His face was back to the stern yet blank expression as always, his hands calmly by his sides. Something about it was making me feel fuzzy; having him was so close to me.

I let out the breath I had been holding and focused on walking up the front steps of the house. Once inside I was glad to see it was empty; the clock on the wall read around eleven. I slowly made my way up the stairs, Phoenix matching my pace silently.

Once I reached my room he nodded and stayed by my door. I chewed my lip and smiled back, walking inside. Leaning against the door I sighed, calming my heart rate down. That was weirdly intense.

I raided my drawer for undies and made my way to my closet. I decided on just leggings and a large t-shirt, Phoenix's shirt falling to the floor. I slipped on some socks and trainers before wrapping my wet hair into a bun.

Once ready, I made my way back outside to find Phoenix's curious gaze. I couldn't help but notice the way his eyes saddened at my attire and nervously wrung my hands together.

"Let's go." He stated.

I followed him down the stairs and to his office at the back of the house. He walked in with his head high and held the door open for me. I nervously looked around to see both Charlie and Sean sitting on the sofa along the near wall. They gave me small smiles in greeting.

But it was the man who stood by the desk that I was drawn to. The green-eyed man who kept staring at me. I felt tingles roll along my skin and settle in my fingertips as I eyed him.

The door shut behind me and Phoenix's large hand met the small of my back. I turned to look at him to see his gaze already on me. He smiled in encouragement and gently pushed me forwards with him.

I came to a stop a mere foot away from the blonde man, his green eyes never left me. He wore a blue suit shirt and black trousers, his hair down past his ears.

He gave me a gentle smile and extended his hand. "Hi Nova, I'm Pollux."

I smiled in return, taking his hand warily in mine. When our skin touched I felt the thrumming of energy, flooding my veins. It wasn't pleasuring like the mate bond, forcing us to touch, but an energetic powerful rush.

I gasped and pulled my hand away. "W-What was that?"

He chuckled and gestured for me to sit. I eyed Sean and Charlie warily and they gave me tight smiles. They wouldn't put me in immediate danger, right?

"I'm sure you have a lot of questions," Pollux spoke, leaning back in the chair.

I carefully sat in the chair on the other side, keeping my hands on my lap. I glanced at Phoenix who now sat in his large chair, nothing about him gave me any information.

"I do...but I'm confused more than anything." I frowned.

"Well, I'm sure you've been told but you are my sister. Twin sister to be exact." He chuckled.

I blinked rapidly, trying to register the idea of having a twin brother. "What?"

His green eyes lazily blinked as he laughed. His voice was well held, almost regal in a way. I'd never heard anything so polite and yet so mischievous before. He was a handsome man, I'll give him that, slender in build and strong in how he presented himself.

"From the beginning. We are twins, our parents had us 21 years ago." He smiled.

"B-but I'm 20?" I stuttered.

He shook his head. "A misjudgement."

I let out a small oh and frowned down at my hands.

"You were born before me, rightfully named Cassie." He chuckled at my confused expression.

I had a different name now too. It didn't feel right, I didn't feel like a Cassie.

He continued. "The first 3 and a half years of our lives were pretty easy going. Our parents were high up in the wolf world, leaders of sorts... See, Nova, you are a Lycan."

"A Lycan?" I blinked.

He nodded his head and smiled at me.

"We're the original wolf. Our ancestors were first created by the Moon Goddess herself. She gave us the ability to shift into a wolf, a large one as dark as the night to not to be seen. Back then there were a lot of Hunters. Witchery was a big thing." He chuckled. "There were six original Lycan, three men and three women. Of course, they paired up and created a life together but the Moon Goddess also bestowed them with the ability to turn man into wolf."

"She did?" I asked, intrigued.

"She did." He nodded. "When a Lycan bites a human in wolf form, they release a venom of sorts that enters the human's bloodstream. It doesn't activate until the next full moon and when it does the human turns into a wolf. Skip the boring part but basically, they turned a lot of humans all over the globe and they soon copulated and had children of their own. The children all shifted during puberty and henceforth went the werewolf kind. Mates didn't come into it until later, I can explain that in a moment but I'm sure but by the look on your face you have more to ask."

I nodded hesitantly. "Are you sure I'm your sister?"

He chuckled. "Lycans have many traits, Nova. We are smaller built whilst human, yet our wolves are black-furred and green-eyed. We get that from our grandparents. The other Lycan families are similar just with different eye colours."

"We are drawn to the arts, to nature and peace. See, we were given the ability to create a race under our protection. There's something special in our blood, that even near death, we can cure anyone. It drains us immensely and unfortunately, there are now only two Lycan bloodline families left because Hunters, Witches and Rogues got word of our ability. So we went into hiding, and we stopped engaging in war in fear of our lives. We are not a fighting species by blood, we merely create and admire creation."

I was blown away by the tales he spoke, with absolute admiration of the story. But I couldn't quite believe it, I hadn't heard of Lycan's before. I was seriously starting to doubt my upbringing at my old pack; did they hide all the books about this? Why did I never hear about Lycans?

"So, I'm one of them... a Lycan?" I wondered, casting a glance at Phoenix.

Pollux nodded. "You are. I'm sure of it, can't you feel it?"

I paused. I did feel it, it was just as obvious as the mate bond. I felt a pull towards Pollux I didn't have with anyone, I was just hesitant to believe it. I wasn't anything special so why now, why me?

"I can," I whispered.

He grinned, showing off perfect white teeth and protruding canines. I flinched a little at the sight of them but he didn't even care.

"Now that's out the way, allow me to tell you why I'm here..."
