I was in my wolf form, Pollux and Sean at either side of me.
We were trailing along the border, the magical hum bristling our fur. We were waiting for them to come, to take the bait again. I couldn't see beyond the border and Sean claimed he couldn't see anything but trees and the strong urge to walk away.
I blended my fur against Pollux as we came to a stop. Our wolves were practically identical except for the fact he had a piece of his ear chewed off. He had claimed it was a trophy from his first solo rogue attack.
Sean's larger grey wolf stood to our flank, his huge head scanning the surroundings. Why'd you stopped?
I flicked my tail and glanced at him over my shoulder. She's nearby.
'Who is?' He panted, tongue licking at his snout.
Raven. She's close. I murmured.
As if by fate, the border began to shift and ever so gently it rose. I lowered my head to peer underneath; she had only risen it three feet. As I squinted through the darkness I saw her feet standing nearby. She was alone, and no doubt risking everything.
I glanced at my back up and with a silent nod, I made my way through. I felt the immediate disconnection from my pack as I entered. I shifted once I was under and faced her bruised body. She was hunched over slightly, wincing as she leaned to one hip.
"I'm glad you're okay." She whispered.
I smiled at her as Pollux shifted beside me. "I'm glad you're alive."
She smiled but glanced at Pollux with hesitance. "You two found each other."
Pollux nodded and crossed his arms. "We did. You're in so much trouble Raven, your mother is so upset-"
"I know." She huffed. "I had to do it. If I didn't it would be her and she wouldn't have been able to handle it. They would've beaten her and she's old, and she wouldn't have been able to kill Eris."
Pollux glanced at me nervously. Gaia's sister.
He sighed as he turned back to face her. "I know. But we are here to help now."
She smiled softly. "I know. The possible futures have dwindled going by the fact you survived the mate bond."
I blinked in surprise. "You knew I was going to do that?"
She shrugged. "I am not as good as my Mum...but yes, there was a future in which you began to grow close and he would take the bullet, but it was undecided on whether you'd mark him or not. A lot of small possibilities lead to it, so I'm kind of glad you did because it's easy for me to let you in here now. The good outcomes for me are better than the bad."
'For her.' Cel grunted. 'She said outcomes for her, not us.'
I hummed and eyed Raven wearily. "So you will lower the border?"
She chuckled. "I let you in didn't I? And I've covered your scents."
I nodded and glanced at Sean. He was surveying the area, his hackles raised and on high alert. He would tell me if anything was wrong.
"And my mate and the others?" I asked.
She paused and glanced at Pollux. "It depends."
"Depends?" He growled.
"Yes."
I went to snap back but she had disappeared in an instant leaving behind a gentle shimmer.

Pollux growled. "I hate it when she does that."
"Vanishes?"
He nodded with a grimace. "She would do it when we played tag. She always won."
Despite the serious situation we were faced with I couldn't help but laugh at him. He brightened the ominous mood without intentionally meaning to.
"Let's move." He rolled his eyes and shifted.
I shifted back to wolf fur and ran over to where he stood. Dion was already staring back at me, Pollux allowing him to take lead. I pushed Cel forwards and she was eager to take the reigns and follow her instincts. (A/N Dion is Pollux's wolf-in case any of u forgot -it was only briefly mentioned)
'Now we know they can hide their scents because of Raven's spells, so we need to be on guard.' Sean's voice floated through the link.
We growled in return and stuck to the edge of the border. We had no idea how much land they had accumulated so sticking low through the trees was our best cover.
I soon heard voices and going by how the two wolves beside me paused, I knew they had to.
Someone was shouting orders, there was a lot of shuffling and cursing. I heard the familiar click of metal and inhaled deeply to smell nothing but wolfsbane and nightshade. Raven had even covered the female's scents, so I had no idea if we were at the right part of the compound.
We planned to distract them in numbers and take them down. I was a little hesitant as it was a big risk and I wasn't sure how I would cope against a group of men. But then I remembered Cel was vicious in her own way and she was eager to take down the men who had hurt me and every girl here. It was her only purpose. Revenge.
We sneaked through the undergrowth, our bellies sliding silently along the grass. I poked my head out once we were close and scanned the surroundings.
We were at the back of the interrogation cabin, the sight of it making my stomach churn with nerves. I could only see some of what lay ahead through the trees and small cabins, but the familiar silvered bars shone in the moonlight.
I glanced toward Sean and he nodded his head before banking right. Pollux had copied, going left which left me alone in the middle. I was the distraction.
I took a deep breath before I began to slink my way to the cabin. I kept low, keeping my head pointed and ears up in anticipation of danger. I pressed my fur against the cabin, grimacing as the smell of wolfsbane grew stronger.
I slowly crept along the length, pushing my nerves into the back of my mind the best that I could. I clenched my jaws together, preparing myself to run to the next cabin.
With one last glance to where I could sense my twin, I clawed at the ground. I darted, flying as fast as I could to the next cabin that lay ten feet away. I let out a short breath once I reached it in relief that I hadn't been seen.

I prepared myself again, the final cabin insight. I glanced around the side and checked my back to see no one around before I once again sped to the next cabin. And finally, I repeated myself and landed on the last one.

I let out a shaky breath, buzzing with adrenaline. Cel was happy to be sharing the sidelines, ready to help out if she was needed. My tail swished lowly in delight as the plan grew closer to being complete. It was hard without a sense of smell, but I trusted my gut enough to get me by.
I peered my head around the back wall of this cabin and found myself directly staring into brown eyes. Felicity.
She looked the same thankfully, just cleaner. Her small frail arms were wrapped around her legs as she curled into a ball on the floor. Most of the women were asleep as the men ran around clinking bottles of beer.
She blinked at me, and slowly shook her head. How she knew I was friendly was beyond me; she had never met my wolf before. I was thought to be dead to all of these people anyway.
I shook her eyes off of me and slowly crept forwards. My dark fur blended effortlessly with the night, and once I hit the edge of the cabin I peered around. The men were, as I excepted, drunk and talking merrily around a wooden table. They were in between the interrogation cabin and the one on the other side, a canopy over their heads. None of them was looking at me, and I saw Spitball enter his cabin with an angered face. I could smell the blood on him and felt pleased he was so angry.
With one last glance at my surroundings, I sank my belly to the ground and crawled toward the cages. I blended with the dark grass and squeezed myself between two cages. My fur brushed against the bars but thankfully did not touch my skin and the women inside of the cages did not stir.
I crept forwards, keeping my ears alert as I moved further in. The cages were large and bulky but I managed to get around them until I found the person I was looking for.
Primrose.
She was asleep, a new cage mate beside her. Her dark hair was shorter on one side, with ragged cuts along her shoulders and back. A small whimper left my lips at the state of her abuse and it made women around me shuffle in their sleep.
I was for once glad I shifted differently so that when I did so, I didn't make a noise. I fell to my knees, blending in with the women in the cages.
I reached her cage and gently pushed my hand through, touching her knuckles. "Rose."
She stirred almost instantly, a light sleeper. Her head rolled and her eyes lifted to meet mine. They were dark in the moonlight behind me casting my shadow along her face. But the familiar brown widened in realisation and she shakily lifted herself onto her elbows.
"Nova?" She whispered.
"Shh." I glanced around as other women began to stir. "I'm here to get you out but I need your help."
She licked her lips but nodded.
"Master key," I whispered.
She understood and turned slightly to look over her shoulder. "Hung up."
I followed her gaze, lowering my head to squint through the darkness. I saw where she was gesturing; a hook with two keys hung from the interrogation cabin. I swallowed harshly at the proximity to the drinking men.
I looked back at her with a firm nod and instantly shifted into my wolf. Her eyes widened in surprise, and my sharper vision took note of the bruising around her jaw.
"Lycan." She had gasped.
I bowed my head and flicked my tail. She lay back down, her eyes keeping tabs on me as I manoeuvred around the cages once more.
They have a master key. I spoke.
'Great. Where?' Sean chimed.
Hung on the largest cabin's front door. I grumbled, sending them an image of my current view. Right next to them.
They both cursed, and we fell into silence as we thought about our next move. I shifted through the bars again to get a better view and noticed Pollux going to come closer through the grass. I saw his green eyes staring back at me and bared my teeth at him.
What are you doing? I snapped.
'You need those keys. And I'm faster than you.' He growled.
Cel scoffed in my mind but I growled at him. Don't be an idiot.
His wolf bared its teeth in an almost comical smirk. 'I'm a joker, not an idiot.'
Final last words. I growled.
He chuckled through the mind link, but Sean interrupted.
'You can get hurt, I'll cover the back.' He muttered, and I glanced to see his dark grey fur shifting in the tree line.
'Just get the keys.' Pollux growled.
I sank myself to the floor behind a cage just as he launched himself around the cabins. He scrambled to a stop and clamped his teeth into one man's shoulder. The man screamed in surprise but Pollux wasted no time as he tore into his shoulder.
The men all scattered, the ones in cabins stumbling as I heard their boots stomp around in panic. Pollux released the man and quickly darted away, the ten around the table charged after him.
I stayed where I was, to not draw attention to myself. I watched as the ten men charged after him, some shifting into their wolf form. I hoped they would be okay but they were unarmed and knew that between the two of them they would put up a good fight.
'I'm taking them further away. Hopefully Raven lets the others in soon.' Pollux gasped.
Okay.
I turned my attention back to the keys. No one was around, the men that had been in the cabins had moved to watch the border. Only one man remained here, the one man I wished to be dead.
His back was to me as he paced the clearing; tasked with looking over the women. Images of him clawing at my skin and tearing my shirt had me wanting to growl but I swallowed it down to keep quiet.
I inhaled deeply, my eyes set on my prize to save these girls. Time to do this.

Memoirs of A Healer/Clinical Social Worker: Autobiography of Bruce Whealton
A loving spouse. A healer. How does this person cope with evil villains willing to destroy everything? They convicted the victim... now how does the victim goes on with life as a healer? As the book opens, I was in a psychiatric hospital following a suicide attempt in December 2019. What starts as a simple conversation with another patient changed my life. Most of the rest of the book tells the reader how I got to this point. I experienced profound injustice between 2004 and 2006. By opening with a story about suicide, I want the reader to understand that the injustice was not just something that happened long ago. This book is an account of all the accomplishments and successes that I had in overcoming tremendous odds and challenges. Growing up, I was paralyzed by shyness and lacked social skills, and so the idea of becoming a psychotherapist never occurred to me when I went off to college. I learned that I could overcome those limitations. I wanted to bring that hope and healing to others. Activities like that make life meaningful and bring me joy. The reasons why I was suicidal in 2019 were set in motion in 2000 when a meteor would come crashing down upon the life that I had built leaving me powerless to do anything other than watching everything burn to ashes - the home that I had, the life I had known, the love I had, my career, everything would disappear almost as if it never existed. In that one the year 2000, I could not imagine things could get any worse. But the nightmare would continue for the next few years... culminating in a suicide attempt in 2019. Now, I am connecting with others, building relationships, and finding a reason to live again. I am writing my own story of my life. I will fight against the injustice of the past and offer my gifts to the world. I have so much to offer. I have quite a story to tell. I hope you will help me to move on with my life.
