《My Alpha's Fairytale》Chapter 44

Logan's POV
"I want a perimeter check all around the territory, and I want the best trackers dispersing into the woods. Don't stop or rest until that bastard is found!" I ordered firmly.
Jake and the warriors that were standing with him nodded and were quickly out of the office.
I sighed deeply and ran a hand through my hair.
"You should go rest for sometime Logan." My father said.
"I can't dad, I can't waste any more time." I replied and went back to look at the pictures that I asked to be taken of the woods.
I was searching for something, anything that would help me find Maxwell.
"I know Logan, and that's why I'm telling you to go to your mate. Spend more time with her, you never know-" I cut him short with an angry growl of mine. I felt my eyes turn black and my body shake as I glared at my father.
"Don't even think about it! Eva is going to nowhere, I'll find that bastard and get her the pearl back!" I growled.
My father just kept on looking at me in the eye for quite some time before sighing.
"We won't let anything happen to her Logan, I'll put our best men out there. Just go to Eva, don't leave her alone for a long time, you two need each other now more than ever."
He was right but I didn't want to belive or even think of the possibility of losing Eva. Not after I've finally found her and not after she'd opened up to me and started loving me back.
But I missed her terribly.
I sighed deeply. "I'll go check up on her." I said and started making my way out the office and towards the bedroom.
I opened the door to our bedroom slightly to find Eva sitting weakly on the bed. Her body was very pale, her cheeks sunken in and her eyes were red. Her skin had that sickly pale blue color and her lips were chapped and white.
My Eva. My beautiful Eva.
My heart reached out for her and I felt a faint smile grace my lips when she giggled.
Alexis, Chloe, Eva's aunt and the twins were sitting infront of her on the bed. They were placing a flower tiara on her head that Eva seemed to like very much.
She looked so beautiful when she smiled like that.
It all downed on me right then and there and my heart ached painfully as I felt my tears start to make themselves known in my eyes.
I'm going to miss her. I'm going to miss her so much.
I turned around and left, not able to take it anymore.
I ran into the woods and the next thing I know, I was in wolf form, running past trees, dodging rocks and branches.
I don't know for how long I kept on running but I was already close to the borders, which is saying something because our territory was huge.
I stopped and took in a much needed breath and when I was sure that my breathing was back to normal, I howled lowly into the night sky. I howled in agony, pain, fear, and most of all, love.

I opened the door to my bedroom fully and smiled widely when Eva turned to look at me, a smile adorning her face.
I went up to her and kissed her temple gently. She was so fragile and I was scared she would break any second.
"Hey beautiful." I murmured into her ear.
A tint of pink spread through her pale face as she murmured,
"Hey."
"We'll leave you guys now." I heard Chloe say and heard them all leave the room.
I cupped Eva's cheeks gently and turned her head slightly so I would be gazing directly into her beautiful blue eyes.
"Would you like to go on a date with me?" I asked as I absent-mindedly stroked her cheeks with my thumbs.
Her eyes widened. "A date?" She asked in shock but I could see the ghost of a smile on her lips.
I pecked them then nodded when I pulled back.
"Yes, a date. I've realised that we've only been on one and I want to take you out again."
Eva grinned widely at me then wrapped her frail arms around my neck and pulled me into a hug.
I in-return, snaked my arms around her waist and pulled her to me.
"I'd love that." She whispered.
I pulled back from the hug, only far enough to look into her eyes again.
Not wasting another second, I crashed my lips to hers. The kiss wasn't passionate or demanding, it was sweet and warm. I tried to tell her through it just how much she means to me, just how much I love her and just how much I can't live without her.
****
"Are you ready Eva?" I asked as I stood behind our bedroom door.
"Just a minute." I heard Chloe yell from inside.
The girls and my mom were ecstatic when they heard about our date and demanded that they help Eva get ready.
Eva didn't want them too though but with her weak body, she needed all the help she could get.
After a couple of minutes of waiting, the door opened to reveal the most mesmerising sight my eyes ever looked at.
Eva was standing in the doorway, leaning slightly against my mother who held her arm to support her.
She was wearing a full sleevd maroon dress that reached her mid thigh. The top was covered with lace above the cotton and it fit her perfectly until her waist, where the dress flared at the bottom.
There was a big black belt around her waist that accented both the dress and her body.
She had on some black tights and flat, black, knee high boots.
Her hair was let to fall down her back and she had almost no makeup on except for a thin layer of lip gloss and eyeliner. I noticed there was tint on blush on her cheeks too but you wouldn't notice it if you didn't concentrate.
I stepped towards her and wrapped my arms around her body.
"You look gorgeous baby." I whispered as our foreheads touched.
She blushed deeply. "Thank you."
"Let's go." I said as I picked her bridal style.

She gasped in surprise from my action.
"I can walk you know." She said in a low voice as she wrapped her arms around me neck.
"I know, but I want to hold you." I replied back with a grin.
It's true, I wanted to hold her, but I also didn't want her to use up any energy she has left. She's already weak as it is and I don't want her to tire herself out, even if it was only walking.
"Aren't we taking the car?" She asked as I walked past it and continued walking into the woods.
I shook my head. "No, we don't need it." I replied with a small smile.
"Where are we going then?" She asked curiously.
"You'll see when we get there." Was my only reply as I kissed her cheek.
She didn't ask about it again.
Soon, we reached where our date would take place.
Since I couldn't risk taking Eva out the territory, my only option was a small picnic in the woods.
I've layed a big enough blanket on the grass, lit candles to light the place up and brought a basket filled with Eva's favourite food. I scattered rose petals all around us and I was sure Eva was going to like it.
Of course, I had about twenty wolves guarding the area around us. They weren't very close so as to listen to us but weren't very far either.
A single call from me and they would be here in a matter of seconds.
Call it paranoia but no way in hell am I taking any chances.
I heard Eva gasp when she saw what layed on the ground.
She turned to me with a smile on her face and I could sense her happiness and giddiness roll off of her in waves.
My wolf, Rex and I puffed our chests in pride.
I placed Eva gently on the blanket then proceed to sit next to her.
I grabbed and duffel bag that I had standing next to a tree and brought out two pillows and a blanket.
I placed the pillows against a tree trunk and let Eva rest against them then got the blanket and covered her legs with it.
"I'm fine Logan." She giggled.
I grinned up at her. "I know, I just want you to be comfortable."
"So, what would you like to have first?" I asked as I started laying all the food I brought infront of her.
"Mmm...." She hummed as she tapped her chin.
"I'll have the tuna sandwiches first!" She said happily.
"Tuna sandwich coming right up!"
I grabbed one of the wrapped sandwiches, unwrapped it then gave it to her.
"Anything else your highness?" I asked playfully and bowed my head.
Eva's soft giggles made me grin as I looked up at her.
I reached into the basket and got out a juice box and handed it to her.
"Drink this with it." I said as she took the juice from me.
Eva kept her gaze on me as her hands held her food.
I furrowed my eyes slightly and was about to ask if she was okay when she leaned forward and hugged me.
I pulled her against me so she was sitting on my lap, her food long forgotten as it layed on the blanket.
"Thank you, thank you so much Logan, for everything." She murmured into my neck.
"You don't have to thank me babygirl. You deserve everything in this world and I'd be more than happy to give them to you."
She pulled back and looked into my eyes.
I reached up and wiped the tears that fell down her cheeks.
"I love you so much Eva. You already captured my heart and marked it as your territory and I wouldn't have it any other way." I said and meant every word. She was already the luna of my heart.
"I love you too Logan. I love you so much." She replied as tears continued running from her eyes.
"Wanna see a magic trick?" I asked with a small smile.
Eva's face lit up and she nodded eagerly.
I brought my hand infront of her.
"See my hand? It's empty right?" I asked to which Eva nodded.
I held her hand and raised it so it was leveled with our faces.
"Now see your hand? It's also empty." I stated and Eva once again nodded.
I curled her fingers so her hand would close and brought it to my lips.
I kissed her fist gently then brought it back between us and opened it.
Eva gasped as she saw a necklace in her now opened palm.
"H-how did you do that?" She asked in shock.
"A magician never reveals his secret." I replied with a wink at her.
I took the necklace from her and unclasped it then clasped back on around her neck.
The necklace dangled beautifully from her neck.
It was a silver heart shaped necklace with an emerald stone in the middle. There were chains running around the heart and the stone, bounding them together.
"This is my heart Eva, and now everyone will know that it belongs to you." I told her.
Eva's gaze lifted from the necklace to me.
"This too much romance for me, I don't think my tiny heart can handle it." She said with a playful sigh and a shake of her head.
I chuckled at her words and pulled her closer so she was resting her head in the crook of my neck.
"Well get used to it cause I'm a very cheesy person." I said with a smirk. This earned me a chuckle of her own.
"Okay Mr.Romantic."
