《Hidden》Chapter 102

King Eric had lost all signs of his remaining sanity, his teeth becoming jagged, dark eyes moving into slits, he was becoming a reborn. His jaw seemed to unhinge as he let out a disgusting scream, saliva flinging out of his mouth.
Emma wasn't in the mood to watch the transformation, commanding Comet to blast his figure with flame. The dragon happily obliged, lighting King Eric's body into a dark black crisp. The magic in his veins flew up and evaporated in a rainbow-coloured smoke, the stench burning everyone's nose. The group of people just watched the scene unfold like they were expecting something much more different. The brunette smirked, turning to look at her friends.
"And that's how we avoid a whole unneeded battle-" Emma was cut off by a blood-curdling scream, the one voice seemingly joined by millions of others. Comet easily matched the roar with his own powerful one, a new challenge.
Eric's golden dragon burst through the roof of the castle like water, rocks flying and hitting the ground like meteors. Comet flared his wings at the giant golden beast, his black eyes with white specks narrowing at the other dragon. Eric's dragon was no longer sane, for as soon as his rider died, the curse easily took over. Comet looked at the other dragons flinging scales, and then at his own grey ones, huffing in annoyance. The grey dragon poured some fire into the air, his wings pushing him up into the hot element with one push, and when he came out of the other side of the flames, his scales shone, almost practically glowing.
Eric's dragon wasted no time in charging to the other large dragon, his fangs wide open as he aimed for the neck. Comet was old, and with that, knowledgeable in fights, so he easily avoided the younger dragons attacks.
The humans and smaller dragons below had scattered to the edge of the battlefield before they got squished, for no one was risking getting stomped on by the dragons, sane or not. David was carrying Noah, the random shadow mage he didn't know in his arms, his blue eyes scanning the males pale face out of curiosity. That's when he saw the large bleeding wound on his leg, the red liquid staining his clothing, he had to heal him.
The golden dragon was still in an eager mood to fight, despite the many deep wounds now tracing its body, as for Comet, the silver dragon was panting, but he had the advantage of knowing what to do, he had his sanity, despite his rider currently being held prisoner in his own academy. The thought fueled Comet's rage, the dragon going for a finishing strike.

However, Eric's dragon was waiting for this moment, and once Comet allowed his next to stretch out and expose his vitals, the golden dragon let his own jaws clamp into Comet's neck. Comet let out a roar of pain and fury, his jaws sinking into the base of the others neck. It was an even battle now, for both dragons had landed a critical hit on the other.
Aqua, who was watching her rider from the skies, looked back to the two giants, only to have her heart sink when she saw Comet with the mark on his neck. Being the selfless soul she was, her wings beat heavily in the air, and she turned herself around to help in the battle.
"Aqua! No!" She knew that voice, is was the voice of the other half of her soul, her rider, yet she needed to help Comet, he was her friend. The blue dragon swooped behind the golden dragon with extended claws, her eyes locked on the cursed dragon. When close enough, Aqua pounced onto the dragon with thrashing claws, her talons catching onto something soft.
The golden dragon screeched in pain, his clawed hands quickly reading for the smaller dragon and ripping her away and into the building wall. Aqua let out a small groan of pain, but she still got up and gave a glare to the golden beast.
Eric's dragon chuckled at the small dragons persistence, his large body slowly making its way closer to Aqua. He planned on finishing the nuisance, after all she did take out his eye.
Comet saw to it that the golden dragon didn't touch Aqua, his talons and jaws sinking into the dragons skin. Aqua took this chance to extend her wings and dash for the face of Eric's dragon once more, her claws easily finding the other eye. The dragon was finally blinded.
The light blue dragon knew she had done enough, so she flew back to the safety of her rider, where she would be waiting for Comet's return. As for the silver dragon, he knew that he could win easily now, but he did not wish for this dragon to go down in pain, so he readied for the finishing strike, but sent one last message to the dragon that was now lost to the curse.
"Forgive me, brother, for I allowed the darkness to touch you."
And then a snap.
David, once a safe enough distance away from the battling giants, ran over to a tree and set Noah down beside it. He quickly placed his hands down, one on Noah's chest, while the other went on the trunk of the tree. He was worried about his dragon, she could be injured, but the lack of pain in his body proved that his dragon wasn't severely injured. Noah was breathing heavily due to his blood loss, and David knew he had to heal him, but the only problem was, there was no living thing to take Noah's wound.

Or was there?
The tree Noah leaned against groaned as it moved in the wind, as if trying to tell him something. The mage looked at the tree, then to his friends who were still running without him, he had to be quick.
"Dragons above, let this work." The mage whispered. It took a lot more energy to transfer a wound from a human onto a tree, for the complexity and difference from the two organisms differed drastically, but as he healed Noah, he could feel his breathing steadying. As for the tree, the wound didn't go far, only spreading across the bark rather than going straight through the wood. When finished, Noah had stopped bleeding, and for the tree, well, it wasn't harmed.
"Thank you." David said to the tree. A breeze waved its leaves in response, but that was the only sign he got from the old plant.
"David!" The blue haired male looked up to see Peter running back for him, his red eyes shining in the sun.
"Peter, help me carry the guy, would you?" David asked. Peter didn't say anything as he lifted Noah and began to run back to Emma and Jasmine, David got on his tail. While the brunette was running to the opening of the force field, she risked a glance back, noticing that the two giant dragons were calm.
The girl stopped, and so did her friends, all looking back to see Comet standing over the still golden body. They also noticed Aqua flying back to the group with an exhausted expression on her face, and David couldn't help but stretch his arms out and wait for his dragon to land.
The female dragon happily collapsed on the ground, her snout leaning into David's embrace. The water mage laughed as he began to run his fingers along his dragons face, not caring about the others stares. Joel and Electra also made their way onto the surface, allowing themselves to walk back with everyone else to Comet.
The silver dragon met them halfway, his black eyes examining Noah's unconscious body. Emma laughed as she spoke
"That was..."
"Crazy," Jasmine finished, "let that never happen again."
The four didn't have time to celebrate, for Richard, the one who opened the barrier was now running to the group with a silver and black dragon close behind. His face was in sheer panic.
"Run dammit! Get out of here!" Richard screamed. His eyes landed on Noah and his weak form, causing him to stop for a second. The old man risked a glance back and shouted as he saw the dragons nearing body, fear setting in from the approaching beast.
It was then that he managed to trip, and the dragon suddenly stopped in its flight to examine the now fallen human. The dragon behind him landed on the ground and nuzzled his rider with concern, knowing that the boy was his riders distant relative, and because of that he was obligated to protect them. Richard looked as if he was about to panic, but then something snapped, and his smile spread across his face, this was his dragon!
"Luna!" Richard shouted. The dragon roared in response, it's eyes glimmering in recognition; after a few minutes of everyone settling down and checking each other over, David finally decided to break the ice.
"Richard, this is Emma, the one who we were trying to save." David butted in and waved to the girl, who was awkwardly waving. Richard turned to look at the nervous female who was currently sweating under his judging gaze. The older man gave a huff before mounting his dragon.
"Emma eh? You are the one who caused this much trouble..." The older man stopped in his tracks as he looked into her eyes, fear gripping his entire being and destroying all his knowledge of magic. "Bloody hell, your eyes!"
"Nothing new, let's get out of here before some of your shadow mage pals decide to come and try and kill us." Peter leapt on his dragon as he waited for the others to regain their composure. The rest mounted their dragons, Emma riding on Comet while Richard and Noah were on Luna, Richards dragon.
