《second best // dnf》10. The Pool [ 2 ]

Still slightly irritated, I glared at Sapnap: he had ruined the beautiful moment. I shook that irritation away though; I knew Sapnap didn't have a crush on him and that he was just playing in a friendly type of way.
Right?
I came back to my senses to realise something: I never saw George come up out of the water.

Dream's Pov:
Where was he?
"George?" I said, trying to retain composure. There was no reply. "George?" Still nothing. My composure fell away and shattered to the floor like porcelain. "GEORGE!"
Sapnap looked at me with a puzzled yet concerned expression. I dived under the surface of the water and opened my eyes. As the chlorine flooded into my eyes, it stung but I ignored the pain. The pool was now incredredibly crowded and all I could see under the water was feet; no sign of George.
"George!" I cried out again and a dozen faces glared at me in anoyance. Sapnap swam over to me with concern smeared over his face. I looked down at my hands; they were trembling uncontrolably.
"Dream what's wrong where's George?" he asked, his voice laced with worry.
I stammered, "I-I watched him go into the water but he's disappeared! What if he's hurt Sapnap?!"
His eyes widened and he yelled, "George!" My eyes frantically scanned the crowds of people in the pool for any sign of him. The clamor from the other pool visiters was deafening and I started covering my ears after Sapnap helped me out of the water. We approached a lifeguard and started explaining what happened.
"What's the situation gentlemen?"
I started telling the lifeguard but I was interupted by a shout.
"Dream!" Mine and Sapnap's heads both snapped to the side to see George walking towards us. I started running towards him and I practically threw myself at him, wrapping him up in a hug.

"George where did you go?! I thought you were hurt!" I said, resting my chin on his head, still hugging him but also still trembling at the same time.
"After Sapnap threw me in, I went under," I still hadn't let go of him, "Then when I was coming back up to the surface, but it was really busy so I swam around looking for you, why, were you freaking out? I only disappeared for like three minutes or so."
Sapnap finished apologising to the life guard and moved over to us. I let go of George and Sapnap gave him a quick, little hug.
"You scared me George," he breathed and then added, "I think we should start getting home." We all agreed and progressed back to our bag, to retrieve our towels. After digging for a few minutes, Sapnap cringed, "I forgot to pack to towels."
I glared at him and George exclaimed, "You literally had one job!" It turns out he only packed one towel. He plucked it from the bag and threw it down on the bench, "Here, have that one, I'm going to go see if they sell any at the reception." and he raced out of the room.
Looking down at the towel, I grasped it and handed it to George but he shook his head.
"C'mon George just take it."
"Its fine, I'm not cold" he insisted with a slight shiver. With a roll of my eyes, I took the towel and draped it over his shoulders. George opened his mouth to complain but before he did, I silenced him by wrapping it around my own shoulders too. "There," I said, "Now we both won't get cold."
I shifted towards George a bit more. He tensed as my shoulders pushed up against his. Glancing at him, I saw that he was still trembling slightly from the cold.

"You okay?" He said nothing; just nodded.

Sapnap's Pov:
I thanked the cashier for the towels and headed back to the pool room. The incident with George earlier scared me but Dream's reaction was even more terrifying. It was like he wasn't functioning properly. Anyways George is fine.
As I entered the pool room, I stopped dead in my tracks. George and Dream were huddled on the bench with the towlel cloaked around their shoulders. Frustration seeped through my mind like poison; George literally had a boyfriend yet they looked like they were a happy couple. My gaze focused on George, he looked slightly uncomfortable whereas Dream had a faint smile etched upon his face.
"Okay guys I'm back with the towels!" I announced and came striding in, trying my best to ignore the way they were sat.
George smiled, "Thank you Sapnap" and pulled the towel off from around his shoulders and took the towel from me. I returned his smile. He wrapped himself up and left to go to the toilet. I came and sat beside Dream.
"Dream I want you to tell me the truth okay?" I requested. Dream raised his eyebrows.
I asked, "Is something going on with you and George?"
I winced as I said it; I desperately didn't want it to be true. Dream would tell me if he was dating George right? But George had a boyfriend... I was so confused.
"Nooo, no there isn't. No." he trailed off. I had a feeling he was hiding something.
"Okay... now answer this truthfully," I said, "Do you have a crush on George..."
Silence lingered around us, Dream looked down awkwardly at the floor and shifted uncomfortably. His cheeks turned a deep red.
"Dream?" he didn't say anything.
I was getting impatient. All I wanted to know is how Dream felt towards George, because I was unsure about my feelings towards him.
"Dream," I asked again, "Do you love him?"
All of a sudden, Dream burst up from the bench and stormed away from me. George was coming out from the toilets, so Dream grabbed his arm and practically begged him if we could just go home.
"Uhh of course we can Dream."
They started walking out as I packed the back and trailed after them. George looked behind him and gave me a confused look as if to say 'What the hell is happening'
I sighed, I guess it was true then: Dream was in love with George.
