《second best // dnf》39. Back in Hospital

We finally arrived at the hospital. Sapnap swerved carelessly into a parking space and we burst out of the car. I was gripping George to my chest with a crushing force, tripping and stumbling as we run to the entrance but not daring to drop him. Sprinting inside, Sapnap yelled, "HELP PLEASE!"
A half a dozen doctors came running out of rooms and all rushed over to George, laying him on a stretcher and then hurrying him away.

I stood in the middle of the waiting room, panting with tears flooding mercilessly down my face. I looked down at my hands, shaking and painted red with blood. George's blood. Slowly, I turned around, seeing Sapnap stood there, his hand covering his mouth and trembling. I stumbled forwards and fell into him, crying into his shoulder, screwing my eyes shut.
"I should've known... I should've known, I should've known!" I cried. Sapnap gripped my shoulders and said, "It's not your fault, Dream you've gotta stop piling all of the blame on yourself."
_ _ _
Here we are again. Back in hospital. This time the room was larger, it had two windows instead of one too. I sat down in the particularly uncomfortable chair and let my eyes scan the room, over and over again.
George was still unconscious after six hours.
When we first brought him in, the doctors said that they had to do immediate surgery. The surgery took a long time. That was a long time of crying my eyes out to Sapnap while we anxiously waited to see if George was gonna be okay. In the end, he was, but they put him on so many drugs and painkillers that he'd be knocked out for a few more hours.
_ _ _
I was speaking to a nurse in the corridor when Sapnap poked his head out and with a smile, he informed me, "He's awake."
Creaking the door open, I caught a glimpse of him: George was sat up in bed, fiddling with his own fingers.
He glanced up at me and I ran over to him and threw my arms around his body. Squeezing him closer against my own body.

"Hey Dream" he chuckled weakly.
"George oh my God," I sniffled into his shirt, "Why didn't you tell me!?"
"I didn't wanna worry you," he said, quietly, looking up into my eyes.
I placed my hands on his cheeks and kissed his forehead, then brushed the hair from out of his eyes.
"George, you absolute idiot, you should've told me!"
"M' sorry..." he mumbled, looking down at the floor.
I scoffed, "You stupid british fuck," and we both exploded into laughter.
Sapnap strolled back into the room, wearing a grin as he saw us. "How are you Gogy?" Sapnap drawled in a british accent.
"I'm alright," he sighed, with a smile.
"Good, good, so George how you feeling about England?"
George's face dropped, his eyes dropping to the floor. I physically winced and mumbled, "We haven't spoken about it yet Sapnap."
Sapnap cringed and slowly backed away and out of the room, muttering words or apology under his breath.
No one said anything for a few moments. To be honest, the silence was painful.
"So, um," I stammered, "How you uh feeling? Good?"
George sighed, "Dream, cut the small talk, I'm sorry about the other night, I was being stubborn, I'll go home to England next week."
I was biting my bottom lip, my eyes brushing over him.
"George you have to know that I really don't want you to go, it's just-"
"- it's just better, i know."
We both smiled at each other and I got into the bed with him and cuddled into him. He rested his head on my shoulder and exhaled.
"I'm going to miss you so much," I breathed putting my head against his, "I'll miss you every minute of every day."
He placed his hand in mine, lacing our fingers together and I continued, "But at least you'll be safe."
"Dream?" he asked.
"Yeah."
"What happened to Ezra after he, y'know..."he trailed off. I realised that he hadn't asked any questions about the situation with Ezra and usually avoided talking about it.

"Well... you um yknow... passed out a-and I tried to bring you back and Sapnap called the police and they yknow, took you away..."
George shuddered, "So he's still out there?"
I nodded and put my arm around his shoulder. Burying his head into my chest, I watched as his eyelids dropped and he fell asleep.
_ _ _
Sapnap slipped into room and chuckled, "Cute." I tried to hide my own smile when he said that. He dragged a chair over to the bed and asked, "Is he okay?"
"Yeah, he wants to go to England too."
Sapnap raised his eyebrows and said, "That's good right?"
Shaking my head, I whispered, "I don't want him to go."
Sapnap rubbed his face with his palm and groaned, "Dreeeaaaaam! I thought we were over this!"
I pouted and looked down on George, his head and his hand was on my chest, his legs were tangled up with mine. I planted a kiss on top of his head which caused him to stir. Wearily, he rubbed his eyes and glanced up at Sapnap and I.
"Oh my god! Did I seriously fall asleep?"
he groaned, "I'm sorry."
Sapnap chuckled, "Why are you sorry?"
"I don't know," he mumbled, drowsily.
I chuckled and my thumb grazed his cheek. Sapnap joked, "Whatever drugs George is on, I want some too!"
A nurse passing by in the corridor gave him a disapproving look causing us all to explode into laughter. Sapnap came and crouched down beside us, he pulled out his phone and opened camera. "Say cheese!"
We all pulled stupid faces as he snapped the picture, which he then sent to us and then posted on Twitter.
George then got his own phone out and typed in on Google: flights to London. He clicked around for a while and showed everyone the screen. It said: Plane Tickets Confirmed.
"Ohhhh George no!" I drawled pulling him into me, then unexpectedly, a nurse entered the room.
She said cheerily, "Good evening George! How are you doing?"
"Um fine thank you," he replied.
The nurse glanced at me, "Is this you're boyfriend?" she asked as she saw me holding him in the bed.
George nodded his head, blushing a dark shade of red. The nurse explained how George was going to have to be knocked unconscious again for a bit due to some medical reasons that I have no idea what they were talking about.
"Okay George," the nurse said, "This will sting a little bit," she gestured to the needle in her hand. I cupped him face with my hands, turning his head to face me.
I assured him, "It'll only hurt a little and you'll be unconscious soon after."
He shrugged me off and scoffed, "Fuck off Dream i'm not scared," I laughed, ruffling his messy hair.
"Okay," the nurse began, "Three, two, one," and she pushed the needle into George's arm.
"Splendid, the medicine will kick in after around ten to twenty minutes, you'll be out for around two hours and when you wake up, you can be discharged, she stated cheerily.
We all smiled and thanked the nurse as she left the room. The three of us chatted for a little while longer about streaming and what to do when we return back to my house. We talked for about twenty minutes.
When George yawned, I knew the medicine was taking effect.
"Are you getting sleepy?" I asked.
"No, I'm not tired at all." he replied, his words slurring together as he spoke. Sapnap and I chuckled, quietly.
Sapnap pulled up his phone, Karl was face timing again and wanted to speak to George.
"Hello there Gogy! How are you?"
George just nodded, causing everyone to laugh hysterically. Karl asked when he was coming home and when he was heading back up England. George and I were propped up in the bed answering Karl's questions when I looked down, he was already asleep.

The original version of the first book was published on RR in 2019 and has since seen multiple revisions based on reader feedback with this one as the final and official fourth version before the second book. While the entire series story has undergone major changes in the last year, all books have been planned since the beginning of writing. It is also my second wish to eventually make this story into a webcomic, either by myself or with a team if possible. Thank you for taking this journey with me, and enjoy reading! ( You can alternatively read books in the series as standalone fictions, but they connect to one another though a running theme and mystery that evolves and progresses with the main character. ) Alternate Blurb for the Singularity Cycle series: Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters mythical creatures beyond her restless imagination in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is gifted with abnormal magic, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world more dangerous than its beautiful facade could hide. Finding new friends along a path riddled with tragedy, Essairyn must learn who to trust as deceit and betrayal lie behind kindly faces. Life in this deceptively promising world slowly spirals down a path of no return. This is not a game, but cruel reality. Her simple adventure became the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tore even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought they were. And not even the fickle gods could change the time-worn destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence.

New World to Experience
YGGDRASIL was ending, and Apoc was hoping to see the game as it ends. And fortunately, he did. But he was transported into a world that is back in the past, yet seemingly not the same world, and coincidentally in an island that was cut off from the mainlands. What should he do? Find a way back home? Or stay and change the flow of time? A little note here; this story is a bit rushed. Considered that it is old and I have little time to revise the story whole. But unless you dont mind it and decided to just read it for the sakes out of it, then be my guest... Not in a offending way obviously.
