George's head was hanging forward but he didn't look like himself- his hair was combed differently, his eyes looked like they'd been smudged with black makeup and his posture was collapsed like a rag doll. He was being held up only by duct tape around his chest holding him to the back of the chair, with his arms stuck behind him, somehow.
Ezra stepped forward and stood beside George. He lifted George's head by grabbing a fist full of the hair on his head and yanking it upwards. We see that his mouth had been taped shut and his darkened eyes were barely open.
"No... George," I whispered, my voice breaking.

George looked thin. Too thin. Like he hadn't eaten in weeks.
"What've you done to him?!" I screeched, fighting against my restraints.
The rope was bruising my skin as I desperately scrabbled to get out. Ezra's thumb was grazing over George's cheek, in an affectionate way; the way I used to do. He delicately stroked his face and ran his fingers through George's dark hair.
"Very pretty, George is," Ezra amused, glancing at me, then tilting George's head to face mine, "Don't you think so Dream?"
I gritted my teeth together, completely and utterly unprepared for what he was about to do next.
Ezra brought his hands to George's cheeks, and pressed his lips against his. He kissed him. It was long and painful to watch, Ezra closed his eyes as he did so. He then removed his hands from his cheeks and put one of them at the back of George's neck, kissing him again.
It was torture to watch. Seeing George so close but just out of my reach; seeing that monster kissing my George.
I didn't cry though, or shout or talk at all. Ezra was trying to make me angry and I wasn't giving in. Slowly, Ezra cut away the duct tape that held George up. George fell to the floor, too exhausted physically and emotionally to hold himself up. Ezra crouched down to his level, kissing him over and over again, smirking as he did so.

"You love me George, don't you?," he murmured into George's skin. George was struggling to keep his eyes open.
"Don't you?," Ezra repeated and George still stayed silent.
Rage overpowered Ezra's face and he grabbed George by the throat and smashed him against the floorboards. The whole house reverberated from the impact as Ezra wrapped his fingers around his neck, allowing not even a sliver of oxygen into his lungs.
"STOP IT!" I screamed thrashing around in the ropes, "PLEASE EZRA STOP IT YOU'RE KILLING HIM!"
George was choking, gasping for air, his fingers desperately trying to pry the fingers away from his throat.
"Say it," Ezra growled through clenched teeth.
Still, he said nothing.
"SAY IT!" he yelled.
George was gasping for air as Ezra hit him hard against the concrete floor. I was sobbing, begging him to stop.
Finally, George choked out, "I-love-you."
Ezra removed him fingers grin his throat. George crumpled to the floor. His chest was rising and falling in uneven patterns; he was barely hanging onto consciousness. Ezra had an evil grin plastered on his face and he was glaring directly at me.
Then, he slowly started approaching me. "Did you hear that?" he snickered, "He loves me."

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Exuperius [DISCONTINUED]
Terravest. The northernmost continent of the world known by many names of legend, but is most commonly reffered to as Athora, has, for eons, served as the land of exiles. Human criminals, dark elves, grayskinned orcs and dwarves that preffer mining with machinery over the traditional pickaxe alike, have come to call this half-frozen hellhole their home. It is a land of great strife, calamity and crisis, where one legendary tale ends only to begin the next, heroes fall down and villains find themselves thrown into lava. Around seventy years ago, a legendary figure appeared out of seemingly nowhere and conquered three human nations, forming a kingdom worthy enough of being called a small empire. However, at the eve of his heirs ascension, the legend breathed his last, leaving this same bloated, chaotic realm without the pillar that kept it together. Already, the carrion nobility, still spiteful for being denied their "rightful" place below the sun, rise up and gather at the court, each eager to consolidate their own power in these troubled times. Tempers flare, power is exercised without restraint and no one expects the hedonistic prince to succeed at keeping the realm together. Alas, as is often the case with such tales, not everything seems to be as it might at first appear and the vain lords of the realm may yet come to regret their carrion will. --- The Content Warnings are there for a good reason. ---
