《We Weren't Acting》Chapter 51 - My light

I'm blinded the moment my eyes get hit by the morning sunlight, I knew something was wrong immediately when the other side of the bed felt cold. I turn my face slowly towards where Lola should be and frown when my gaze meets an empty pillow.
Dread fills the pit of my stomach. I raise my body slowly out of my lying down position and glance around the room.
I turn my head slowly towards the washroom door, hoping to hear some sort of movement on the other side. Tears rush to my eyes as my heart falls along with the only hope I had left.
She left me.
My butterfly, my light is nowhere, and she might never come back.
I understand why she did it, but it doesn't mean I like it. I wish I could have woken me up, I wouldn't have stopped her, I would have gone with her.
Knowing that she could have possibly walked into her own death causes my heartbeat to quicken. I sit against the headboard and desperately grab my face with my shaking hands and let out an anguished breath as my throat closes against all my protests.
Breathe, breathe, you can do it. Lola's voice chants in my head. Which makes me panic even more. I stumble out of bed on my shaking legs to open a window that might supply me with relief.
Sticking my head out the window, I close my eyes when the cool breeze hits my watery eyes, making them feel instantly dry. My chest moves up and down slowly as I practice my breathing exercises.
I open my eyes and my body calms its rapid shakes.
As I advance to move back into the hotel, I hear the sound I dread most, a cameras click showing it has taken a picture.
My body stills and fills with panic, I turn my body towards the sound and find three men with their cameras pointed directly at me.
I flip them the bird and slam the curtains shut once I'm stately away from their prying eyes.
This is not what I needed right now, now the entire world is going to see a picture of me having a minor panic attack on the balcony of my hotel room.
A rapid knock interrupts my thoughts, wiping off the moisture from my cheeks. I walk over and open the door, coming face to face with a frantic Dante.
My blood boils.
I'm about to open my mouth and tell him to piss off when he pushes my chest and slams the door shut behind him. "I need you to listen to me, this is an emergency."
I walk towards him and give him my best glare, "I don't want to hear you're bullshit, I have my own problems right now."
I grab the cold metal door knob but I'm stopped from twisting it, "I know where Lola is." Turning my body slowly towards him he continues, "There's no time to explain how I know where she is, but you need to go now to be there for her. She's about to learn something heartbreaking, I'm leaving on a plane in twenty minutes to get to her and bring her to where you're going to meet her at the hospital. I couldn't get us on the same flight so you're forty minutes after me, here's the ticket," he hands me a ticket and gives me a nod, "The info where she'll be is on that sticky note," following his finger I look to where he points. My eyes glance over the information.

Glancing back up at my once upon a time best friend, I sneer, "Why do you know where my girlfriend is?"
Grabbing the doorknob, he twists it open. Before he disappears from my sight, he whispers, sadness clouding his face, "Because I'm a monster."
***
Running into the hospital doors, I tap my hand on the information desk impatiently where an old lady is sitting behind.
Looking up at me from the book she was reading, she says boredly, "Can I help you?"
"I'm looking for a patient that was just admitted in the hospital named Mark, I don't know his last name but I need to see him fast."
"He was just admitted a few minutes ago. A young lady was with him, yes?"
I nod, unable to find words.
She nods and types and on her keyword loudly, "He's on the third floor, in room 306-"
Before the kind lady could finish, I run off to the elevator and press the button to go up several times.
My head falls against the elevator walls as it elevates up.
The entire plane ride here I couldn't help but think how weird it was that Dante knew where I was, and how he somehow knew where Lola was.
Rage fills my body as I knew from the start Dante would pull a stunt that would put Lola in danger. However, what my mind can't wrap around is why he would want to help us if he put her into this situation.
Once the doors finally open, my legs move at a fast pace as I glance at every door number until my eyes meet with the one I'm longing to be in.
I grip the doorknob and push it open and hard, my heart beat quickness when I spot Lola sitting in a chair with her legs pulled to her chest. The necklace I gifted to her is being fumbled in her small hands. Tears are running down her face as she stares at nothing. I advert my gaze to the man lying on a hospital bed once again looking like he's beaten practically to death, but the movements of his chest tell me otherwise.
Moving my legs as fast as they can let me, I drop onto my knees and grab my angel's face, "Butterfly," I whisper.
She creeps her head up and when her eyes meet mine my heart shatters, her beautiful brown eyes are filled with tears and the whites of her eyes are coated with redness. Her eyes are so puffy, a giant bruise overpowers the left side of her cheek.
My blood pressure rises knowing someone hit my girl, although a thought comes to my mind that reminds me at least she's alive.
However, looking at the once merry girl that I've grown to love is not the same girl sitting in front of me.
The girl I'm staring at right now is the complete opposite, she's broken.
"I'm so relieved you're okay," I shake my head and pull her off the chair, I sit on it and pull her into my lap. She straddles my waist and pushes her face in my neck, breathing in shakily.

Grabbing the back of her neck, I place my head on her shoulder and breath in the scent I've fallen in love with.
"I'm so sorry," she breathes out, panting. I feel tear drops falling on my neck at a fast pace, "I'm so sorry I left you Chrissy, please forgive me."
I shake my head against her in disbelief, "You have nothing to apologize for, butterfly I understand."
Nodding my head, I bring my lips to her ear and whisper lightly, "The only thing that matters is that you're safe in my arms."
Putting my forehead against hers, "I love you," her soft voice said, releasing me.
I close the distance between us. Our lips connect in a soft kiss, I kiss her like she's going to disappear in midair. I place my hands on her waist as she grips onto my shoulders tightly. Her lips move delicately over mine, I pull her closer to me when our kiss becomes more rushed and urgent. The both of us poor our hearts and souls in our lip dance. I pull away slowly once I feel moisture dropping onto my cheeks, Lola grips my hair in her hands as her body racks with sobs. She drops her head on my chest as I hug her tighter to my body.
Knowing nothing I will say will help, I resort to rubbing her back and just showing her I'm here for her, "Is there anything I can do for you, baby?"
"Distract me." is all she says.
Nodding, I tell her when I found out she left I freaked out and Dante came knocking on the door. How he gave me the information about where she would be. I practically winced when I explained when Liam freaked out on me. He reached for the chair that was next to him to throw it at me, but I quickly ran away towards the parking lot and called for a taxi.
I know he would not hit me with the chair, he just reached for it to show me how angry he was.
Not wanting to, but having no choice, I tell her that Liam expects us in Vancouver in two days. Luckily today was just a travelling day and then the day after was a resting day.
It relieved me, knowing that I hadn't let down any of the fans. After explaining my story to Lola, she explains what happened on her end.
I tense when my thoughts were all confirmed when she explained that Dante helped with all the notes and was the shooter that shot Mark on the street that day.
She cries when she tells me her dad was behind all of this and he's slowly stealing all her money. Her cries continue when she tells me about a gossip magazine that she read early that photographed her crying when she was first running away. Also, her cries turn into sobs as she tells me about Mark's condition.
Poor guy has extreme injuries, both of his knees are broken, they stitched up the stab wounds. However, he also lost a lot of blood, has a concussion and may never walk again.
Lola went practically crazy ranting how it was all her fault, that seeing her best friend in a wheelchair will kill her. Seeing her so destroyed was a stab in the gut. She was my world, so if she's broken, so am I.
"What are you going to do about the money?" I whisper once she's calmed down.
Her voice is weak and cracks as she specks into my neck while still being in my embrace. "There's nothing I can do, he's being smart about it. Stealing small amounts at a time, I can't and won't stop him because God knows but he'll do."
"He can't steal all the money you've worked for Lola, I won't let that bastard get away with it."
Lola moves her head up from where it laid on my chest and gives me a glare, "Don't you dare do anything. It's just money... Money doesn't cause happiness, the people in my life bring me happiness. If my father gets messed with, he will do anything to get me back, look at what he did just to get my card." She states strongly and passionately.
"You'll lose everything."
She swallows tightly and avoids my gaze, "I'm still getting money from the movie, I'll just ask Liam to give me a check, and I'll make a new account."
Confidence overpowers my entire body as I gaze at the women I love, "I have a better Idea, move in with me?"
Soooo tell me you're thoughts...
You guys are going to get more content now of them being celebrities, I just wanted to show that being famous you have struggles too... and what Lola faced is something that could really happen.
