《Endangered》23.) Betrayal

Flora looked behind her to see Dorian coming through the front door. "Hey, you've been gone all day." She said as she washed some of the dishes in the sink, mostly from the guys raiding the kitchen and not cleaning their mess.
"I've been doing some thinking." He exhaled, "Somethings come up," Dorian stated seriously as he stood there with his arms crossed.
"Okay..." Flora drawled out. Hoping he would get the hint to elaborate on the subject.
"Tilda didn't get pregnant by Roman."
Flora dropped the dishes in the sink hoping he wouldn't say what she was thinking. "Are you sure? It's too soon to tell though."
"She wants me to try and impregnate her...tonight."
"What? No, absolutely not. You told her no right?" The last bit of hope still flowed through Flora. Marcus said he wouldn't do that, so she had hoped he'd be right about this.
Dorian's expression was neutral, something she's never seen him express before. "This isn't an option. I just thought I'd let you know."
Flora was bewildered. "Excuse me but when has this all of a sudden normal. You have to tell her to choose someone else."
"I accepted her request for a natural insemination."
"You didn't think to tell me any of this first."
"I didn't think that I'd get permission to do so, so yes, I did this on my own. In the lycan world, it's an honor for a female to choose who to breed with."
Flora had let a tear escape her eye. "Well in my world it's an honor to find a faithful man that's true to his family."
"I wasn't born human. I was born a lycan pup." He started to turn away.
"So you're going to run off to some whore?!" She yelled going after him.
He swiftly turned around to face Flora with a dark look. He blocked her into a corner growling at her. "Don't talk about her like that!"

More tears pooled onto Flora's cheeks. "Why are you defending her?" Dorian had no answer for her.
"So you're just going to leave?"
"What do you expect me to do?" He asked exasperatedly.
"I expect you to stay here with your family," she said rubbing her bump as the tears continued to fall from her eyes.
Dorian looked down at her stomach then back to her face. "I'm looking to expand my family." A look of hurt flashed on Flora's face.
"You don't understand how much it hurts me to know that you'll sleep with another woman knowing how I feel about you."
"This isn't about feelings! This is about whether or not my species lives or dies! I don't understand this, the feelings you have. The feelings I was having towards you simply can't happen. Other female lycans didn't have a problem like this decades ago, why can't you?"
"Because times have changed and so have morals." Flora put her hands on his face looking into his eyes. "I love you, Dorian. Why can't you understand that?"
Dorian was fighting himself into what was right and wrong. In between the woman that was stealing his heart while having his first baby and the other woman who was just like him, that was detached from the mortals and would be there to protect the litter of pups he could possibly have with her.
Dorian lowered Flora's hands from his face looking torn. He turned away from her and headed towards the front door before he could turn around and apologize. He had to do this, for the lycans future.
"If you walk out that door I'll never forgive you."
Scared of how conflicting his mind was working, Dorian left Flora in the house with a broken heart.
He shifted in his beast form and ran on all fours to Matilda's heating scent. When he reached her she was naked and squirming in need as she tried to reach out to him. Dorian didn't shift to his human, instead, he stayed in his beast form.

He was still angry, so he flipped Tilda over and stuffed himself inside her. He repeated his ruthless thrusts in hurried movements. His claws dug into her shoulders causing the blood to leak from her soft skin.
She was healing but Dorian dug his claws in deeper, letting her know that she would not enjoy this just like him. He had to leave his pregnant woman behind for this one with no guarantee of pregnancy, but he still took the risk.
Everything would have been fine, guilt-free if only he hadn't let Flora become too close. It would be hard for him to earn her trust.
Dorian's quick pace had made his knot start to form with her. He only knotted if he was in lycan form so it would help impregnate the woman he would breed. He was swelling within her locking themselves together.
Tilda smiled at Dorian's beast form trying to pat the fur but he growled at her. They laid there not embracing each other. The only connection was the knot.
Tilda felt hurt knowing Dorian didn't want her like the others did. That was the reason why she was drawn to him. She liked their attention and wanted to be theirs.
Once the swelling went down Dorian went in his human form glaring down at her. "This is your only purpose. What happened means nothing to me nor will I feel something for you even if you do indeed carry my young."
He walked away making Tilda feel saddened by his thoughts of her. He had hurt two women's feelings in one night. He felt like shit but he needed both of them to understand the reasons he had to do them.
As he was walking back in his own thoughts, he had a feeling that something was wrong. His stomach clenched in pain. He stopped, holding his arms out to a tree. His stomach had turned over, making him throw up.
The only thing on his mind that could connect him to such a thing was his baby. His eyes widened in realization. He then took off sprinting as if his life depended on it. Once he reached the house he ran inside calling Flora's name.
He sniffed the air taking deep breaths for her scent. Everything smelled like her but the dominant scent of her being was not there. The only thing he could hear was the erratic beating of his own heart.
He ran upstairs to see the bed was in disarray with the strong smell of vomit. He touched the pillow to feel it soaked wet. 'Why would she cry over me?' He thought, after everything he said and done to her. He wasn't worth her tears let alone one.
The blankets were still warm. He followed traces of her faint scent along with the others that carried out of the house. Fresh tire marks were imprinted on the floor leading him to her. He ran once again until he stopped just outside the nearest pack house when all negative thoughts surfaced.
He rushed in looking frazzled. People moved out of his way sensing his aggression. "Flora. Where is she?" Dorian asked out of breath.
He would have rather rushed where she was but he had been blocked by Axel and Magnus. "Let me see her!"
"We can't."
"Can't or won't?"
"Both. Nancy gave us strict orders to not let you in yet. She said when Flora wakes up then she can decide whether or not you see her."
"What happened? Is she alright? Is the baby okay?"
"We don't know any more than you do." Dorian dropped to the floor putting his hands on his face, consumed in all the emotions he's feeling. What had he done?

MANTIS: On Hiatus
Two young adults who were childhood friends are killed amidst a pandemic worse than our own. After many years apart, Rihelah was on her way to see Michael, hoping to rekindle their friendship on the day they would both lose their lives. The pair are unwittingly selected to represent Earth in a test set forth by godlike beings who are intrigued that our world gave rise to complex life without having been intentionally seeded by their kind. Michael and Rihelah are reincarnated as predatory insects upon a distant planet called Edon. Elves, Dwarves, Dragons and their kin, Goblins, Ogres, Humans, Lizardfolk, Orcs, and sapient arthropods known as Enkelyn all inhabit this beautiful world touched by magic. The tiny mantids must survive terrified and very much alone upon arrival, while neither is aware that the other has also been reincarnated upon the same island. Naked in their new chitinous exoskeletons, they must now brave the terrors of an alien world's food chain. Each will benefit from their years of experience on Earth, but they must somehow find a balance between old lives and new. Moderate mindsets and peaceful values from a mostly safe and privileged life on Earth must now contend and somehow coexist with the strange physiology of a new and unfamiliar body as well as the violent aggressiveness of a predator's mind. To top things off, the pair are about to find themselves struggling with their inner turmoil while swept up by terrible conflicts they know nothing about. Both endure the hardships of their new lives while attempting to understand and make proper use of a mysterious and terse video-game-like System that pops status notifications into their vision from time to time, but initially has no useful interface. Some of the options they are presented with sound enticing, but as with everything else in life, each choice has benefits and drawbacks... Author's Note: This story makes many changes to the original version, and readers of Mantid will find that many things in Mantis are new and different; especially after the first few chapters. I've learned a ton from writing like a madman, and also from the RR community. I appreciate you guys! :)
