" Sasori!" Komushi shouted as he slammed the door to Sasori's work room open. You trailed behind him quietly while Komushi ran around the room with his arms spread like an airplane.
Komushi was more energetic than you and Sasori combined. He was the most friendlier out of the three of you. You appear to be shy at first glance but you just don't like to talk a lot around people you don't know. Once you got accustomed to Komushi and Sasori, your talkative self started to come out.
You peered over Sasori's shoulder and examined the puppet arm he's been working on. " It's nice." You commented.
Sasori stopped working and peered over you. " Thank you." You smiled at him.
" I wish I could be cool as you. You're contributing to the village with your puppets and all I'm doing is running errands with Komushi..." you grumbled.
" Hey! What's wrong with running errands with me?" Komushi pouted.
" Nothing. I like hanging around you." You said as you leaned on him. " It's just I want to do more for the village..."
Komushi nodded his head in understanding manner. He too wanted to contribute more.
" Hey Sasori you wouldn't mind if you taught me how to make and control puppets would you?" You asked.
Sasori hesitated to answer your question. Ever since his parents died he busied himself with the making of puppets to contribute to the village. He didn't have nearly the same amount of free time he did back then. But he could never say no to you. You were perfect in his eyes. Your hands were soft and perfect for puppet control. Your voice heavenly. He didn't mind if you talked for hours, which you've done before. Your hair, your still maturing body, your eyes. Everything was beautiful. He liked it when you hug him. But he loved your smile the most. It made him feel safe and calm. He felt reassured. It reminded him of the smile and comforting words his parents gave him when he was younger.
" I-" Just tell her you don't have time, she'd understand. " I don't mind." Damn
" Really?" You smiled.
" Yes, but it would have to be early in the morning." He replied before averting his attention back to the puppet hand.
"Thank you Sasori!" You said happily as you wrapped your arms around him from behind.
" C'mon Komushi we have to finish our errands." You said as you held Komushi's hand and dragged him.

" Bye! Sasori!" Komushi yelled.
It was the very next day and the sun hasn't risen yet as you met up with Sasori in his work room. Your eyes were droopy and you continuously yawned.
" Learning how to use Chakra strings would best for now as they are easier to learn." He said as he placed small puppets on the ground.
You nodded. Sasori showed you how to create and use Chakra strings. You tried to make the puppet walk but continued to fail. Sasori watched as you struggled and decided to help. He got behind you and placed his hands on top of yours and moved your fingers. You smiled as you watched the puppet to finally walk, even if it was a bit wobbly.
You peered over your shoulder and smiled at him. Sasori looked down to you and felt a blush slowly creep onto his cheeks. He didn't notice but he was involuntarily moving his head closer to yours. You noticed and leaned in as well. Your lips touched his and he pushed you away.
" I-I'm sorry. I-I thought..." your voice was cracking and tears were spilling out from your eyes. " I'm sorry!" You shouted before leaving his work shop in a hurry.
" Come back." Sasori whispered but it was too late. You were gone. Sasori in frustration threw his puppets to the ground and yelled. Why! Why did I push her away! I wanted to kiss her so why!!
After hours of regretting his actions he decided to finish some work so he could talk to you.
Hours have passed as he heard the door to his workshop open loudly with a thud.
" Sasori!" Komushi shouted as he ran over to him. Sasori stopped working and turned around, you weren't there.
" You won't believe it! Y/n got promoted to border control!" Komushi gushed as he recalled the moment you were promoted.
" That's good." Sasori commented.
" Hey you okay? You look upset." Komushi commented as he noticed his eyes were still a little red.
Sasori ignored him and worked. " You can talk to me about anything you know. We are best friends for a reason!"
Sasori stopped and thought about it. Maybe he should ask for advice. He sighed before looking at Komushi.
" When y/n came over earlier this morning for puppet control we kissed a-"
" WHAT!!! That's amazing Sasori!!!" Komushi congratulated Sasori with a big Pat on his back. " Don't get too perverted with her though." Komushi giggled.

" We kissed and I pushed her away but I don't know why. I wanted to kiss her."
Komushi frowned at his words. "Oh." Komushi thought about it before looking at Sasori hesitatingly. " You don't think it's about your.... parents." Komushi said quietly.
Sasori stood still and thought about it.
"Maybe you're afraid of being loved again because of what happened...."
Sasori looked at Komushi and then to the closet that held the puppets that resembled his parents. " Could you leave. I have things I need to think about."
Komushi nodded and mumbled a goodbye.
These feelings.... are too much.
A month had gone by and Sasori hasn't seen you. Komushi dropped by regularly with news about you.
Today was a bit different. Komushi was tired of you ranting about your love for Sasori and he hated to see Sasori mope around because you aren't there.
So Komushi devised a plan. He thought it was a brilliant plan. Make Sasori jealous enough that he would leave his work room to come see you and spill his feelings to you. Komushi at the time did not realize Sasori couldn't control his jealousy and because of that, it costed Komushi his life.
" Hey Sasori!" Komushi yelled as he barged into Sasori's workshop. Sasori ignored him and continued to work. " I can't help but say thank you for my puppet arm!" Komushi gushed. " It's so cool!"
" Bam!" Komushi said as a sword came from his palm.
Komushi noticed Sasori wasn't paying attention to him and decided to start his plan. " Ya know Y/n has been a little clingy with me recently." Komushi said causally. Komushi noticed Sasori stiffen before continuing what he was doing.
" She's been hugging me a lot too. If you aren't planning on snatching her up soon I just might!" Komushi said as he nudged Sasori. Sasori was seething with anger. His breathing was heavy and his fists were balled.
" Me and y/n almost kissed yesterday you know." Komushi said smugly. Everything he had been saying was a lie but if it made Sasori jealous then he'd continue with the lies.
Sasori snapped. He didn't even think about it, he just did it. He dipped a needle with poison and pricked Komushi without him noticing.
" Ah I have to go! Bye Sasori! You should talk to y/n!" Komushi said as he left.
It was only until everything was quiet did he realize what he had just done. But oddly enough he didn't feel guilty. Instead he was excited. Excited that he was about to have a new puppet to his collection.
Once news broke out to you that Komushi had died you ran to Sasori for the first time in a month. You harshly opened the door and yelled out Sasori's name. Sasori looked over to you. You ran to him and wrapped your arms around him and sobbed.
" Komushi is dead..." you whimpered. " Our friend is dead Sasori."
Sasori didn't know how to comfort you so he just patted your head gently. He hugged you for hours until your parents came to pick you up since you had fallen asleep.
These feelings are too much. They get in the way. I need to get rid of them...
It was midnight when you woke up in your bed. How did I get here... You harshly gripped your pillow and started to cry once again. Komushi was dead. It was all sudden. You silently screamed. You screamed until you felt something tickle at your throat. You coughed and saw flower petals fall down to your lap. You picked it up and examined it until it hit you.
You didn't bother putting on your shoes. You ran to Sasori's home. You unlocked the front door with the spare he had given you. You ran down the corridor until you arrived at his workshop. You knocked it down without thinking and gasped at the sight. There stood Sasori. He looked at you with his lifeless eyes. You approached him and touched his arm. It was wood.
" Sasori..." you cried out. You felt your throat burn as you started to cough out petals. You fell to your knees and hugged your stomach as it started to become hard to breathe.
Sasori towered over you. He had done it. The feelings he held for you are gone. He got rid of all emotions too. He could no longer feel despair, happiness, anger and more.
" The ability to feel emotions...." he paused as you started to hyperventilate. " Is bothersome. It got in the way. But now I can focus on my art. Because this!" Sasori threw his cloak off and showed off his puppet body. Your eyes lingered on the container that held his heart.
" This is art!"

The original version of the first book was published on RR in 2019 and has since seen multiple revisions based on reader feedback with this one as the final and official fourth version before the second book. While the entire series story has undergone major changes in the last year, all books have been planned since the beginning of writing. It is also my second wish to eventually make this story into a webcomic, either by myself or with a team if possible. Thank you for taking this journey with me, and enjoy reading! ( You can alternatively read books in the series as standalone fictions, but they connect to one another though a running theme and mystery that evolves and progresses with the main character. ) Alternate Blurb for the Singularity Cycle series: Essairyn had never felt truly alive on Earth. It felt like something was missing ever since she was born, but even after nearly 20 years of mundane living, she could never pinpoint what this or the emptiness in her heart was. Suddenly, she awakens in a grandiose, primordial forest and encounters mythical creatures beyond her restless imagination in a parallel world called Sol'h'meyr. She befriends, in particular, a sassy fox-spirit named Akari who reincarnated after three millennia. Essairyn is gifted with abnormal magic, and Akari is being chased by those of her dark past. Together, they set out on an adventure in a world more dangerous than its beautiful facade could hide. Finding new friends along a path riddled with tragedy, Essairyn must learn who to trust as deceit and betrayal lie behind kindly faces. Life in this deceptively promising world slowly spirals down a path of no return. This is not a game, but cruel reality. Her simple adventure became the modest beginnings in a chain of disruptions that tore even the dimensional fabric of time and space. No one, not even Essairyn, was who she thought they were. And not even the fickle gods could change the time-worn destiny of the universes... A single promise shook eternity’s existence.

Kichiro's Rampage
Meet Kichiro, the son of a samurai. A social outcast, he leaves his home with nothing but a musket and a sword, determined to carve himself a niche in a chaotic world of dragons and leviathans. This fiction incorporates LitRPG elements, but it's not set in a VR. It's set in a fantastical world based loosely on East Asia in the 16th and 17th Century, when the Ming Dynasty was on its last legs, with the addition of magic and monsters. I totally stole the stat tables from Exterminatus, the author of Everybody Loves Large Chests, so let me credit him for that. I'm new to writing so please don't hesitate to criticise, and reviews would be greatly appreciated.
