《The Truth about Heather (gxg)》50 💕

I called Heather's number in an attempt to find out whether she was free. She answered after several rings in her perfect voice.
"Hey," she said.
At her voice, my heart began to warm again and I had to wonder for a second how I had ever disliked her. She was everything to me, now.
"Zoe," Drew's voice said, which took me out of my world of thoughts momentarily.
"Wait, Zoe, is Drew there with you?" she asked me.
"It's a long story but Drew and I are friends again. He wants to talk to you. Would you be okay with us coming over?" I asked.
"Sure," Heather said.
I gave Drew the thumbs up and the two of us made our way over to his car.
"You sure you're cool with this?" I asked him, as the two of us sat down in his car.
"Of course, I am. Besides, it's the right thing to do," Drew stated.
I gave him a look of approval and he then began to drive us towards Heather's house.
"Drew...there is something else you should know," I said.
"Right," Drew said.
"Heather and I are sort of-"
Drew pulled up outside of Heather's house and we quickly found that she had left. She was walking down the path towards the car. She looked as beautiful as ever. Her curls fell down over the grey sweater she was wearing. It was one of those outfits I was convinced only Heather could make look good.
The two of us then got out of the car, so we could talk to Heather.
"Right, what were you going to tell me, Zoe? You and Heather are-"

"Dating. Together. Zoe and I are together," Heather said, as she glanced towards me for a second. She soon turned her attention back towards Drew, as did I, and we both found that his eyes had become a fraction wider than they normally were.
"Wow. I...I really am oblivious to some things, huh?" Drew asked, as he chuckled, which I was sure caused both Heather and I to feel some relief. I was glad that he was having such a positive reaction to all of this. "Regardless, I am so happy for the both of you. I'm sorry I was so pushy before. I was a dick. There wasn't really any excuse for that. I just...I wanted to apologise for that and I wanted to know that while I understand if you don't want to be my friend anymore, Heather, I will be here if you need a friend. And...it would be great if you returned to the band, too. However, you don't have to."
"I want to," Heather said, "I want to be your friend again and I want to join the band again, Drew. However, I have one condition."
"What's the condition?" Drew asked.
"Let Zoe join. She's so great on the piano and she can sing too. I heard her at my house when she thought nobody was listening," Heather added, as she saw the confused look on my face.
Drew met my gaze then and smiled.
"You know what? Sure. I should have invited you to join the band ages ago," Drew said.
Although I may have had some anxiety over joining the band and being centre stage, I couldn't deny that it would offer me a great chance to help me develop my confidence and to help strengthen my friendship with Drew again. So, I really couldn't turn it down. Besides, as long as Heather was there, I already knew I was going to be just fine.

"Thank you, Drew," I said.
He gave a slight shake of his head, as he wrapped me up in a hug.
"No. Thank you," he said.
Once Drew had drawn back from the hug, he looked between Heather and I for a second.
"I should probably get going, huh?" he asked.
"We'll see you soon, Drew," Heather replied.
"Awesome," Drew said.
"Bye Drew," I said, smiling genuinely back at him, as he waved and then wandered back to his car.
When Drew was out of our field of vision, I turned my attention to Heather again. She rubbed up and down her arms a little, so I could tell she was getting a little cold.
"Do you want to come in?" she offered.
"Of course," I said, as the two of us made our way down the path towards the front door of her house.
Heather and I made our way up to her room and sat down upon her bed. She put on some music and I looked towards her with a natural smile upon my face.
"Hey, are you okay? You look as though there's a lot that is on your mind," I commented.
"I need to tell you something, Zoe. I am so happy to have met you. I am lucky, too and I guess I've been feeling this way for a while but it's taken me some time to work up the courage to tell you this but..." she trailed off.
"But?" I asked.
"I love you," she said.
I felt slightly astonished at first and had felt a momentary loss for words, too. Nevertheless, I soon felt my heart warm again and I couldn't help but swiftly move closer to her so I could press my lips against her vanilla-tasting ones, once again.
I realised there was something I needed to say here, too, as soon as I drew back slightly from the kiss.
"I love you," I replied.
Heather's smile grew, so her perfect teeth were revealed again and she soon placed her lips to mine again.
I was so lost in kissing Heather that I became a little disoriented and ended up falling down upon the mattress of Heather's bed. Heather simply chuckled in response to that.
The two of us moved, so we could cuddle up closer to each other and Heather wrapped her arms around me, so I felt safe and secure, as though nothing and nobody could ever hurt us.
"I really am so glad that I met you, Heather," I whispered.
It was still sort of crazy to me that there had ever been a time where I hadn't liked Heather because with her I realised exactly what real life was supposed to feel like and that was a feeling that I was going to hold onto for a very long time.
Heather gently cupped my cheek so she could meet my gaze and I noticed the warmth in her eyes, then, too.
"I'm glad I met you too, Zoe," Heather said, as she snuggled in a little closer to me.
There we remained in her room for a little while longer, both blissfully happy with each other and hopeful for the future of us, too.
