There was a comfortable silence between the two boys as Jungkook walked Taehyung home.
He had already informed Jimin that Taehyung was leaving so that the boy wouldn't go crazy looking for him.
Jungkook was too lost in his thoughts to speak, meanwhile Taehyung was suddenly too shy to start up conversation.
The moon was beginning to shine down on them, the wind howling loudly.
Taehyung's teeth chattered lightly at a particular gust of wind, making Jungkook's head snap to the side.
"You're cold." He frowned, already removing his black hoodie.
"Oh no, it's fine-" Taehyung began before Jungkook practically threw the sweater on him.
He blushed furiously, suddenly grateful that it was dark out.
"Thank you." He mumbled softly, unconsciously sighing when he inhaled Jungkook's cologne.
The sweater was definitely big on him, creating cute sweater paws that had Jungkook smiling gently.
Taehyung's brows furrowed when he put his hands in the pockets, feeling a small box inside.
He pulled out his hand only to see it was a pack of cigarettes that Jungkook kept.
Taehyung frowned at the realization that the box only had two cigarettes left.
"Why do you smoke?" He mumbled, eyes focused on the small cancer sticks.
Jungkook had spaced out, shaking his head to focus at the sound of Taehyung's voice.
"What?"
"Why do you smoke?" He repeated.
Jungkook stood silent, gulping harshly at the question. His throat burned with the overwhelming feeling that erupted in his chest.
"It's stupid." He replied, eyes refusing to meet Taehyung.
The small boy watched as Jungkook reached out and took the pack from his hands.
Jungkook inspected it from all angles as if seeing it for the first time.
"No, it's not." Taehyung spoke.
He didn't reply after that, Taehyung believing that the conversation was over and Jungkook wouldn't answer him.

They were passing by a beautiful flower field when Jungkook finally spoke.
"My father used to smoke. Or maybe he still does, if he's still out there somewhere... That's what my mother told me," he paused, feeling his throat burn.
Taehyung remained silent, listening to the sound of their shoes hitting the pavement.
"At first I started doing it because I thought it was the only way I would somehow feel closer to him. Even if it was initially his decision to leave me. Now I admit its spiraled out of control. I think I've just become addicted to it."
Taehyung took in his words, noting the raw emotion in his voice and the slight waver of his words.
He stopped walking, making Jungkook stop as well.
"Let me help you." He whispered, looking up and facing Jungkook.
The muscular boy appeared to be contemplating his next words before he slowly nodded his head.
Taehyung's eyes landed on the box still in Jungkook's hand, slowly reaching out and taking them from his hold.
Jungkook watched as Taehyung took out the two remaining cigarettes and chucked them down a sewer drain.
It was silent for a moment before Jungkook inhaled slowly, feeling slightly panicked that he had no more cigarettes for the night.
But that all vanished the second Taehyung turned to him with a small smile on his face, encouraging him with his eyes.
They talked for the remainder of the way home, Jungkook's hands stuffed in his pockets.
They were two houses down when Taehyung giggled adorably at something Jungkook had said.
Jungkook suddenly became aware of the dark figure standing on top of the porch.
His smile dropped and his hands felt clammy. Taehyung must have noticed what Jungkook was looking at as well, appearing nervous.

They lowered their voices as they reached the front of Taehyung's house, very aware of the person watching them.
Taehyung was about to say goodbye to Jungkook but a loud booming voice from the top of the stairs prevented him from doing so.
"Taehyung, get inside."
Jungkook's eyes stayed solemnly focused on the small boy as he gave him a weak smile before turning and walking up the stairs.
Jungkook looked up only to see the angry eyes of Taehyung's father staring down at him.
He glared back at him, watching as Taehyung disappeared behind the door.
They had a bit of a stare down before Taehyung's father turned around and walked inside, leaving Jungkook alone in the street.

Back inside the house, Taehyung's trembling hands were well hidden beneath Jungkook's hoodie.
Once inside the house had he remembered that he forgot to return the sweater.
The loud slam of the front door had him wincing lightly. He whimpered when the angry eyes of his father stared down at him.
"I thought you were going to church to practice your singing with that little friend of yours." He spat out.
Taehyung shrunk lightly under his burning gaze, feeling so small.
"I-I was. It's just that Jimin's friend came along and we all practiced together." He lied, immediately feeling awful about it.
"I don't want to see you near that boy again. He's a good for nothing street rat. Do you understand me?" He ordered, tone threatening.
"...Y-Yes father." He whispered, head bowed down.
"Speak up boy!" He bellowed, stepping closer to Taehyung.
"Yes father." He repeated, tears building up in his eyes.
"Good. Now go to your room." He demanded.
Taehyung quickly ran upstairs, opening his bedroom door and closing it shut.
He threw himself onto his bed, burying his face into his pillow.
Sobs racked his body as he cried out his feelings. In the midst of it all, he could hear loud footsteps nearing his bedroom before they suddenly stopped outside the door.
The sound of keys could be heard which meant only one thing, his father was locking him in.
He sniffled loudly at the realization, feeling more tears steam down his face.
He cried and cried until his eyes felt puffy and sore. He couldn't help but inhale Jungkook's lingering scent from the hoodie he was wearing.
It was the only thing that managed to calm him down. He fell asleep after that.
