《The Demon King (The Demon King, #1) - Completed》Chapter 22 - Can't Do That

So guess what I woke up with today? My freaking period. Like are you kidding me?
And guess what else I found out today. Demon women don't get periods! How freaking unfair? Like what is this? So then I was in trouble because I needed my feminine products. Pam asked Mary if there were any pads or something that she possibly could have had. And she said that they did have a stack of them but some of the other girls already used them all. And that if I wanted someone to go down to earth to get them for me I would have to talk to Dimitri about it.
Um, I was not going to ask him! I'm not insane. And it would be so awkward too. Kenneth already found out when I was talking to Pam about it and he seemed really disgusted. I don't blame him though because demons are not used to something like that.
I asked Mary if she could tell Dimitri to send someone down to earth but she wouldn't which was so annoying. She said I had to talk to him myself. Honestly, I'd rather just use tissue paper than go and ask Dimitri about it. But realistically, I knew I couldn't do that.
Maybe if I told him about it, he'd be disgusted too and leave me alone for a while. Just like Kenneth. Except I wasn't happy that Kenneth wouldn't come near me. It was annoying and rude.
I sighed as I walked up to Dimitri's room. I felt nauseous and my back was starting to really hurt. I hated my period so much. I always got really nauseous and had many back and head aches and stomach cramps and legit every possible horrible period symptom that exists. Like can I please stab myself?
By the time I reached his room, I was too nauseous to care about how awkward it would be to tell him. I knocked on his door, breathing deeply in and out. He opened the door with an annoyed look which slowly washed off his face as he noticed the sick look on my face.
"Isabella, are you okay?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowed in concern. The concern wasn't super visible on his facial expression, but it was there, however small it was. If I didn't feel so horribly sick, I would have been really surprised to see it.
I leaned against the door frame, trying to ignore the nausea that was seeming to grow. The nausea was worse than it had ever been before. "Um, Dimitri, you'll find this really disgusting. But I kinda got my... um, period... and I kinda need some pads. Can you send someone down to earth to get them for me?" I finally managed to ask, feeling really embarrassed suddenly.
"Yeah, sure but first come and sit down, you really don't look good." He said, gesturing to his couch.

"I don't have time to sit around! I need a pad right now! So hurry up and get someone to get them! Gosh." I exclaimed in annoyance. "Oh and thanks for telling me I look ugly. Really appreciate it!"
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't talk to me in that manner. And be patient, I'm telling someone right." He said, glaring at me before he left the room. I stood there glaring down at the ground for the time Dimitri was gone. I ignored the painful cramps I had in my stomach as I waited for him to come back. And soon he did.
He walked up to me before resting a hand on my shoulder. "If you want, I can get rid of your nausea for you."
I shrugged his hand off my shoulder. "No thank you. I'd rather not experience horrible pain at the moment." I said causing him to nod his head.
"Whatever you want." He said sitting down on the couch, looking up at me still standing. "Oh and I didn't say you're ugly. I meant that you looked sick. Not ugly. There's a difference."
"Whatever." I said, rolling my eyes.
Soon enough someone came back with some pads and I felt more relieved than I've ever felt. When I came out the bathroom, I thanked Dimitri. He didn't say anything except nod his head. I was surprised to see him not disgusted by this at all. Both Mary and Kenneth were so I expected him to be as well.
"I don't understand how you aren't disgusted." I said and now he rolled his eyes.
"And why would I be disgusted? It's a normal thing. Well for you human girls anyways. And if it's normal for you, then who am I to be disgusted about it?" He said. "And how's your nausea?"
"It seems to be gone for now." I replied, surprised that I didn't feel awkward anymore about this. Dimitri made this all seem so normal. Well, it is supposed to be normal, for me but not for everyone in Rovana.
*****
I was about to stab Shauna to death right now. I swear if Dimitri doesn't kill her, I will. She's so goddamn annoying.
"I didn't cheat on Kenneth!" I exclaimed and she smirked at me, knowing she was really getting to me. And I shouldn't have let her get to me but I was just too pissed off.
"Uh huh, sure. If you think you can use Kenneth to get Dimitri, then you're wrong. Dimitri's too wrapped around me. And Kenneth will be soon enough. Because unlike you, I'm actually hot." She said, twirling her hair around her fingers, with a satisfied smile on her face.
"Well, I'm hotter than you." I said, mentally face palming myself. Who even says that? I'm so stupid sometimes. Shauna burst out laughing at that. She was literally crying because of how hard she was laughing.

"You are not hotter than me. You're not hot at all in fact. You're ugly as hell. Honestly, I don't get where you got the hotter than me part. Because there's literally nothing attractive about you." She laughed, wiping her tears away.
"I may be ugly on the outside," I started off. "But I am not ugly on the inside. Unlike you."
"I don't care if you're supposedly not ugly on the inside. Because the outside is what everyone sees. You know the saying, don't judge a book by it's cover, right? Well everyone judges it by the cover no matter how good the book may be on the inside. They don't care, if the book is ugly from the outside. All people want are pretty books. And I'm the pretty book here." She said smirking at me. Why did she have to say such hurtful things? It's not like I don't know how ugly I am.
I stayed quiet not knowing how to defend myself when someone else spoke up suddenly. It was Dimitri.
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard Shauna and I've heard many stupid things in all my years alive so far. You, a pretty book? Really?" He scoffed. "First of all, you're not a book and you're too dumb to be one anyways. And no offence but you're not as pretty as you think you are." He said causing Shauna's mouth to fall open wide.
I was shocked too as I stared at both Dimitri and Shauna. Did Dimitri just defend me? Well he didn't directly defend me but he did go against Shauna and basically almost called her ugly, right after she insulted me.
"Yeah I'm not pretty because I'm more than pretty. I'm beautiful." She said as confidently as she could manage. "I'm so beautiful that in the dictionary the definition of beautiful should be me."
Dimitri and I both stared at her weirdly. "I'm sorry Shauna, but if I were to write a dictionary, I'd make sure you'd stay far away from the word beautiful. The letter U is near the end of the dictionary right? That's far enough away from the word 'beautiful'. I think you'd fit in nicely with the letter U and a certain word that's found there." Dimitri said causing me to burst out laughing now. Yeah Bitch, you totally have Dimitri wrapped around you.
"You asshole!" She screeched out in anger.
"How am I an asshole? It's not like I can change the facts. I can't change what's true just to make you happy. So I don't think it's fair to call me an asshole. I'm just stating the truth." Dimitri replied quite nonchalantly, causing Shauna to have the most angry, pissed off look I've ever seen on her face.
I was the one crying of laughter now. This was honestly hilarious. I was dying. "Shauna," I started saying in between my laughter. "If you want people to think you're beautiful, then start acting like it. You're personality is going to determine that, not your face or body."
She angrily picked up a glass vase off the table and threw it hard at the wall, making it break into a million pieces. Dimitri glared at her and ordered her to clean the mess up.
"No." She stubbornly said.
Dimitri then stalked up to her and pulled a knife out of his pocket, pressing it up against her neck. "Either you clean that up or I slit your throat." He growled out dangerously causing even me to shiver in fear. Shauna, with her eyes wide open, instantly nodded her head yes. Dimitri then let her go before he walked out the room, leaving Shauna and I alone in it.
I smirked at her before I walked out as well.
*****
Later on at night, when I was walking to Kenneth's room, I heard Dimitri crying out in pain again. I immediately rushed inside his room and found him writhing in pain. It was happening again, but this time it looked so much worse. He seemed to be in even more pain than before and there was more blood seeping out his eyes, nose and mouth.
"Leave Isabella!" He exclaimed in panic, once he noticed me inside his room. "Please, it's not safe for you to be near me!"
"How does my safety even come into this? You're the one in pain!" I exclaimed as I ran towards him. I immediately grabbed him, wrapping my arms around his tense, pain filled body. I felt him physically relax at my touch. He was still shuddering in pain but not as strongly as before.
"Please leave." He managed to choke out, between his pain filled cries.
"I can't." I said quietly as I gently rubbed his back up and down. I don't even know if he heard me but that didn't matter because I wasn't leaving.
He closed his eyes, trying to ignore the pain. "Dimitri, if you tell me what's going on, maybe I can help you better." I quietly said and he shook his head.
"You can't help me." He said. "No one can. Only I can help myself."
"Then do what you have to do and help yourself!" I exclaimed as I ran my fingers through his damp hair.
He suddenly opened his eyes and stared back at me with great pain in his eyes. Pain from the thought of whatever he had to do to help himself. "I can't do it." He whispered. "Anything but that."
