《Mrs. Maximoff》Seven

A week had gone by and still didn't get any call.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't even a little bit jealous of Jules talking about how amazing the job was and how nice Mrs. Maximoff was, at least to her.
She asked me multiple times if I was okay with her talking about it, one thing that I learned about Jules was that she is very thoughtful and will do anything to make sure the people around her are comfortable. Even though it left me with a bittersweet taste in my mind, I told her to just do it and that she was free to express her happiness around us.
We've hung out quite a lot during the past week, especially during the night. It's usually just us three, and I'm obviously the third wheel most of the time.
Tonight wasn't different from the others: we met at what became our favorite bar and drank until we could barely stand anymore, that was the fortune of having a personal driver, you could get wasted and still get home safe.
Poor Stewart who had to put up with all of this, but when we tried to apologize to him the first time this happened he told us to not worry about it and that we should just enjoy our lives until we still can, even if it means getting wasted and possibly puking in his car.
Morgan did that, by the way.
They were fine though, Stewart loved Morgan as if they were his own, so he let them get away with it.
It was a bit chilly tonight, and it finally started to feel like fall was here.
We sat at our usual table, talking about everything that came to our minds.
"Oh, I totally forgot to tell you guys this! Mrs. Maximoff gave me my first article to write! I was sooooooo amazed, I couldn't believe it was realllllllll..." Jules was slurring all of her words, yeah, she's the lightweight of the trio.

"Oh my, I am sooooo jealous..." even if I wasn't very drunk, I immediately slapped a hand on my mouth, thankfully Jules was so wasted that she thought I was joking.
"And I am sooooooo bored, I'm gonna get us more drinks," Morgan got up from the table, they were still a little sober, but I knew that it wasn't going to last long.
Jules and I kept talking when I needed to go to the bathroom, so I excused myself and went to find it.
I did everything I had to do, including fixing my hair a bit, and just as I was about to close the door, I felt someone grab me.
"Hello, Y/N. How are you?"
Her voice. Her voice that I hated so much.
Okay Y/N, play it cool.
"Hello, Mrs. Maximoff, it's nice to see you." At that moment, after I didn't get the call, it really wasn't. "I'm doing fine. What about you?"
It wasn't her fault, I was the one to fuck everything up, but I still couldn't stand the fact that she acted that way with me at the interview and at the fundraiser too, it was like she was setting me up.
"I could scold you about lying, but I'm not going to. I am doing fine, just like you."
"So you also didn't get a call after one week?" The words slipped out of my mouth, but I honestly didn't regret that they did. I was done with her acting as if she controlled me.
"What did I say about being a brat, Y/N?" She used a challenging tone, and it honestly just made me want to slap her.
"Listen, I don't even care about what you say anymore. You have your reasons as to why you didn't call me, and as much as I wanted the job, I'm not gonna let it ruin my career, or even worse, my life. Thank you for giving me some kind of opportunity, though, Mrs. Maximoff. Goodbye." I told her getting out of her strong grip that made my wrist a little red.

"Y/N..." I couldn't let her ability to get her way by just changing her voice get the best of me, so I walked out and went to find my friends.
"Ah, there she is, my best friend in the whole world!" I immediately recognized seven drinks Morgan, which meant affection-deprived Morgan, which equaled hugs and cute things that Morgan will never remember saying.
"Your best friend in the whole world is feeling kind of sick, so I'm just gonna drink some water, sober up a little and take a bus home," I admitted.
"What! Nooooo Y/N...don't leave!"
"I'm sorry, I just am not feeling okay. I have the key, the spare one is in your bag." I told Morgan if they even listened to me.
So I went to the counter and asked for a bottle of water, drank half of it and waited a little bit to sober up.
Once I felt sober enough I went outside and waited for the bus near its own stop, and surprisingly it wasn't late.
It was just a ten minutes ride, and as soon as I got home I immediately jumped on the bed.
I didn't even bother changing into more comfortable clothes, I just wanted to sleep.
I was about to when my phone rang, making me scoff.
"Ugh, can't a girl just catch a break!"
I went to check for the notification, expecting it to be a very drunken text from either Jules or Morgan, but it was from an unknown number.
"You start tomorrow at 8. Come into my office first. W.M."
Holy shit.
