Flashback from the day of the job interview
"So, how did it go? Found anyone interesting?" Natasha's voice made me jump as I stepped into my house.
"Jeez Nat! You could've told me you were coming over!" I shouted at them while she was looking for something to eat in the fridge.
"Your fridge is empty, you seriously need to go grocery shopping." She stated, making me roll my eyes at her.
"Well, since you're literally here 24/7, why don't you go grocery shopping?"
"Nah, I'm good." They slammed the fridge's door and then looked at me. "Oops."
I walked into the living room and put my things on the couch, then immediately went to get changed.
I loved wearing suits, they made me feel very confident, but after a certain amount of time I just can't take it anymore.
I put my pajamas on and then went to the bathroom to do my skincare. Out of all the activies I take part of during one day, getting home knowing that I'll have a little bit of time to take care of myself is my favorite.
I put my hair up in a quite messy bun and then proceeded to do what I had to.
Once I was done, I walked back downstairs to find Natasha in front of the fridge, again.
"Didn't you say it was empty?"
"Well, it doesn't hurt to look at second time. And plus, by using the word "empty" I meant that you have nothing that I like. Who the fuck likes broccoli?" She said raising her voice.
"I do. Listen, it's not my fault you only eat tacos, I honestly don't know how Maria puts up with you."
"Tacos are amazing and you know that. Plus, you should know. You remember college, right?"

She did not bring that up again.
"We dated for three days." I reminded her, and they just scoffed at me.
I checked the fridge too, and she was right. I definitely needed to go grocery shopping.
Nat and I were very hungry, so I decided on ordering some takeout, but when I turned on my phone and looked at the time, I started freaking out.
"Fuck! I totally forgot there is the Stark fundraiser event tonight! Shit, shit!" I boomed, making Natasha jump out of their seat.
"Holy shit Wanda! You almost gave me a stroke!"
I glanced at them, and she knew exactly why I did.
"Sorry..."
"Oh my, I'm never going to be on time!" I started to panic.
I usually never go to big events, but this is one is a fundraiser, it's very important and I want to go.
"Well, do you have a dress?"
"For this specific event? No. A dress in general? Yes, sure."
"Do you have one that could work for tonight?"
"I think so..." Nat followed me upstairs into my room, immediately going for my walk-in closet, focusing on the dresses section.
"This one?" They asked, holding up a burgundy dress.
It was pretty, but I wasn't feeling the color.
"No." I started playing with my hands, which is something that happens a lot when I'm nervous about something.
"This one is pretty!" She was now holding a white dress, but it was too fancy.
"I'm going to a fundraiser, I'm not getting married."
"Well then, I'm stealing this." They said, throwing it on the floor.
"Nat!"
"What? If you don't want it, I'll take it!"
"I never said I didn't want it..." I started, but I knew that when it came to something they wanted, Nat always won. "You know what? Keep it."

"Thank you." She softly smiled at me.
They looked again into my closet and then picked out another dress.
"Third time's a charm."
She was holding up a light red dress which wasn't too long, and I honestly didn't even remember I owned it, but I loved it.
"Yes!" I took it from their hands and immediately went to get changed while they set up everything I needed for my hair and make up.
When I got the dress on I was happy to see that I really liked how it fit me, and I realized that I couldn't have worn anything else for tonight.
"So, how do I look?" I asked Tasha walking out of the closet.
"Can we go back to those three days we were together in college? Please. Maria doesn't have to know it."
"Shut up and do my hair."
I took a chair from my office and put it in front of my mirror so that I wouldn't have to stand while Nat did my hair.
"You completely ignored my question before. Have you found someone interesting?"
Right, the question.
"Like, most of the people didn't last for more than 2 minutes. They are terrified of me because of these stupid rumors, I honestly would have preferred if they made up some shit about me being pregnant or something. I mean, yes, I always wanted this job because I grew up reading, writing and watching my father work, but who could even go close to thinking this?"
"The internet, apparently. Can you answer my question now?" Natasha spoke, looking at me for a slight second, but oh, how did I wish they had never done that.
"Fuck, Natasha!" I yelled getting up from the chair after I felt the burning curler right beside my ear.
"Sorry Wands!" She tried apologizing, but couldn't contain their laugh. "...can you answer my question though?"
"Fine."
"Yes! Now talk."
"There was this one girl, Y/N. I read some of her pieces and they were just...beautiful. When she came into my office, she was just as beautiful as them. I had her ask me questions, I was a little tough on her, but you know I don't deal well with...not acting tough in front of other people. She has something that other people don't, and it scares me."
"Why?"
"Nat..."
"Are you scared you're going to catch feelings?"
"They say you just know it when it happens, and the thought that I felt something similar to that scares the shit out of me. You know I have no clue on how this works, I've only ever hooked up with people, nothing more."
"Not even our three days?!"
"Three days, Nat. Three days."
"Look, just do what you feel like doing. If you don't want to let go, then don't. Let go when you feel like it, understand? Just, don't let your thoughts get the best of you. I know it seems scary, but it doesn't have to be."
"But I don't even know if it's the same for her."
"Well, this is were your Maximoff charm steps in."
"Oh, shut up."
Only if I knew that I did actually let my thoughts get the best of me. How could it be that Nat is always right?

The Song of Souls
WARNING TO MY USUAL READERS: This is not my usual style of story. I've decided to turn this into an anthology of short one-shot stories, that are very atypical of my usual stories or style. Some will be horror, others romance, and others just stupid silly ideas I have. Basically, a collection of shorts I write when I need a break from my usual writing style. I'll include a summary at the start of each "chapter" telling you what to expect. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE SUMMARY! The content and quality of each story will probably vary wildly. (One is even a horror romance featuring an eldritch horror. I promise it's weirder than it sounds.) If you do want to check out my usual writing, be sure to take a gander at my ongoing series, Of Men and Dragons. It's a bit of a long haul at this point, but hopefully it's worth the read!
