《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 22-Silence the Chaos

JC's legs go weak and I catch her before she can fall completely to the ground. I cradle her head in my hands, her unnatural blonde hair a mess. Drake and Jared rush to our side. "What happened?" Jared asked.
"She just passed out." I say staring at her features which are resting peacefully on her face.
"I smell rouges." Drake suddenly says and I see Jared getting visibly nervous. I catch the smell too. Jared and Drake are considered rogues, but this smell is different. More distinctive and purely evil.
"Me too." Jared says and I pull JC's head into my lap, checking her pulse. Her heart is still beating, very fast actually.
Her hair falls so I can see her birthmark on her upper cheek bone and it mesmerized me for a second. This is the mark I dreamed and had visions about.
"We need to get her out of here." I say and lift JC's unconscious body. She's lightweight, maybe one-hundred and twenty pounds. She fits in my arms perfectly. That's when I notice black veins creeping up her arm in a fast motion, up to her neck and face. What the hell?
I don't have time to think much about it, I still carry her to the car and put her in the backseat. "Drake you drive, Jared get in the front." I order and they do what I told him. My instincts tell me to look out the window, I see a pack of wolves in the trees- their eyes watching us.
The rouges sit in the shelter of the trees and I fell bad for leaving JC's car there. They will get a good smell of her scent and track her much easier with it. There's nothing I can do. Jared says the tank is on empty.
Drake sees the rouges too and we speed out of the gas station parking lot and back on the interstate, further into Tennessee. We will need to turn around somewhere and I need to call Jackie to let her how some crazy stuff is going down. I need to call my father too.
We may all need to work together to protect JC. I don't know the exact measure of protection she may need, but I have a feelings in the pit of my stomach.
I get out my phone and dial Jackie first, she answers on a couple rings. Her voice is stressed and emotional. "Theo?"
"Hey. I have JC, she's okay-I think." I tell her and look down at JC's wrist, the black veins still protruding. I hear a sigh of relief over the phone.
"Thank God, can I talk to her?" She asks and I immediately feel bad, but know I have to tell her the truth.
"She passed out." I respond back, looking at her blonde head resting on my lap. I'm hoping the hair is a wig but instead she must have died her hair.
"Is she sick?" Jackie asked and I could hear shuffling around in the background. Werewolves rarely get sick. If they do it can be connected to her heat, wolfs-bane or silver.
"I don't know Jackie, something is wrong I can't tell you that. We are working our way back to Florida."
She is in her second heat, I can smell it. Maybe that's why she passed out, the pain of it.

I picture those black eyes staring back at me, over and over again. I wasn't scared of her. But I was and still am terrified of what's happening to her. Jared is quiet, and I think he knows a lot more than he's telling. I want to know the story on how these two met.
A more pressing question however is, has she been running this entire time just because her eye color?
"Get here soon then. There's talk throughout the council that the rogues are looking for someone special and once they have them, they are starting a war." Jackie lets out a breath.
I was completely unaware of this. A war? Against us?
"A war against who?" I ask feeling the question weigh on my mind for some odd reason.
A pregnant pause follows.
"Against every supernatural being."
We arrive back at JC's home pack and we are greeted by the Alpha James, Luna Bethany, Jackie, Conrad, Allen, and a couple other's I haven't recognized.
JC is still passed out and I want to think it's because of the heat, but I pull down her robe to cover her arms and neck anyway. I hadn't said anything about the veins to Jared or Drake. I don't want other to scare anyone. A thought lingers in that maybe I should tell the pack doctor, it could be something he would have the answer to.
I get out of the back seat and grabbed JC. I pick her up bridal style. She hangs limp in my arms. Jackie comes over and touches her daughter with tears in her eyes.
"Glad to have you back, but who are these men?" Alpha James brings up. Drake and Jared stand uncomfortable. The pack stares at them, they can smell the rouge on them.
"They're friends. They've helped a lot. I'm sorry I didn't alert you ahead of time." I say respectfully. I guess I should have talked to Alpha James before bringing rogues in his territory.
Jared and Drake are clearly embarrassed by their rank, or their lack of.
James nods and doesn't act angry. "Come, let's get inside."
Dark clouds loom over the pack house, the darkest I have ever seen. It will be raining soon. We all walk to the pack house just as a few rain drops begin to drop. "Thanks for not giving up." Conrad comes from behind me and says.
I look down at JC once again as I've done a thousand times already in the last seven hours. I can never get tired of looking at her or touching her. I can't imagine why she thought that she needed to stay away from me, even with everything she's going through.
"I'd do anything for her." I say completely truthful. No matter what life brings, I will always fight for her.
We enter the pack house and I immediately take JC up to her room and lay her softly in the sheets. She's freezing cold now, so I cover her up with a blanket. I push some stray hair out of her face and she moves ever so slightly.
She is really not going to be happy when she wakes up.
"Theo, what happened out there?" Jackie asked quietly, coming up from behind me. I'm sure I have dark bags under my eyes. I stand up off the bed and walk to the window, making sure it's locked and shut. Then, I push a screeching dresser in front of it for extra assurance.

"A lot." I answered simply. I'm not even sure I can put it into words.
Maybe I will have Drake come and sit with her while I talk to her pack and family. I can't keep her condition a secret forever. They need to know the situation, even if I'm unsure what the full situation is. I may have an idea.
"I need to call a meeting. Meet me in the kitchen in fifteen minutes. Also, tell Drake I need him to watch her." I tell Jackie and she nods, exiting the room. I knew Jackie would have rather stayed with JC, but we all needed a private conversation about this.
Drake is better alternative to watch JC besides Jared since Jared let us know he's only fourteen.
I wish I knew all the answers so I could help. So I could silence the chaos in her heart. She's hurting so I'm hurting. I hate seeing my mate in the state she is in.
Drake comes in the room, "You're on JC duty. If she wakes up, get me right away." I say, giving a glance to my gorgeous mate. I don't want to leave her, I will be more than happy to stay by her side for hours on end.
Her being in heat doesn't make it easy for me to leave either, but a threat may be coming.
I walk to the kitchen where James, Bethany, Jackie, Conrad, Allen, and Jared wait for me. James looks annoyed I called a meeting in his own pack, but I couldn't give a damn. The rain is falling heavily outside now, making sounds on the roof.
"Alright everyone let me tell you all I've learned." I start off. I'm already itching to get back to my mate's side but I didn't want to discuss this if she could hear it.
So I told them about where I first searched for her at and what the News channel said in Kitty Cafe and Milkshakes. I connected the dots when JC showed her eyes. I got the web on my phone and pull up the article, which had more information on it. They give a exact description of JC and call her the Demon Werewolf. My theory seems correct.
"JC is scared of the possibility of hurting people she loves. So, from what I've been told- she distanced herself from her family and pack but she knew she wouldn't be able to do that with me. So she ran. She's terrified of what she can do. She thinks she's evil." I say and everyone's faces lights up in pure confusion and unbelief.
Jared walks up beside me and stands, "She can do things that no werewolf can." He mentions and looks down at the floor in disappointment, "I was sent to give her wolfs-bane in a sandwich at a hotel. My father said it was to prove my loyalty to them. I decided to give her a fighting chance. When I was with her-" He pauses, "... she locked the door, then when I screamed she put her hand over my mouth."
"That sounds pretty normal." Conrad adds in and I too was a little confused since Jared hadn't said anything to me about that.
"No. She did it with her mind somehow. She locked the door without touching it and put pressure over my mouth without even putting her hand there." Jared says and everyone stares at him like he's crazy. Except for me.
Jared then adds quite fast, "She asked me to come with her to escape because I'm sure my pack would have killed me for letting her get away. Th-ey said she was evil. "
Jared knew as well as I do that JC isn't evil.
"Her eyes turn black. I've seen it." I input and look at Alpha James particularly. I haven't seen her do anything else weird, although her silver and black eyes are enough to freak anyone out.
He's looking at me in a dead stare, convinced that all of this must be a joke. "I know all of this sounds crazy, but she needs our help. Rogues are targeting her, they want to take her or kill her-I don't know."
Alpha James taps his pencil on the desk- thinking.
Jackie stands ready to speak. "What can it be?" She asks, trembling a little in her hands. I can't imagine how Jackie must feel being a mother, JC's mother at that.
"I don't know. Maybe she's cursed." I reply back and feel my heart sink in my chest saying the word cursed. Curses can never be reversed.
Then I think of possession, but if she is possessed, wouldn't she be ruthless and not trying to run and hide? Demons love chaos, JC is trying to avoid it. I decide not to bring the possession idea, it's not possible anyway.
"JC has never had a run in with a witch before, that couldn't be possible." Jackie shakes her head and looks back down to the table. She folds her hands over the table and Conrad strokes her back.
Luna Bethany rises from her seat, "If she is a threat, we can not have her here."
Conrad, Jackie, Jared, and I both stare at her in complete disbelief. She can't be serious. JC is a part of this pack. My thoughts go into words by Conrad who becomes angry.
"She's not a threat. This is her home and we are not tossing her out in the streets for the rogues." He says with a snip in his tone.
Alpha James growls under his breath in warning, "Do not speak to your Luna like that. She is just protecting this pack, we have children here. We don't know what JC is, and that is a threat."
Conrad nods his head apologetically but I can see the sour look on his face. He is not happy.
"Until we can determine what she is-if she even is anything, we are going to keep her in a cell, in the basement." James states and stands from his chair, ending the meeting.
I want to growl, but bite my tongue. I have to keep reminding myself that I don't really know my mate. I don't know what she could be capable of. I'm just so quick to defend her.
"Take her to the cell." James says to Allen who nods immediately and moves in the direction of her bedroom..
I growl out harshly, "I'll take my mate."
