《The Tracking ✔》Chapter 39-Immortality Thieves

"We can't just let anyone become Spellbound Lycan. We have no idea what they will do with that kind of power. They will be unstoppable if we let it fall in the wrong hands." I tell JC who is casually sitting on our bed, staring at the wall where I have several family photos hanging in a collage.
"You are exactly right. Which is why I don't think anyone needs to possess it." She says looking at me this time. "I can trust you with it, because I know your intentions are pure. But when other's find out you have it, they will want it too. Because in their eyes, you are no better than the rest of them."
I sit down on the bed with her. This is the only place in the pack house that we have complete privacy. Bedroom talks are becoming a thing for us.
"I may not be better, but I am certainly different from the rest of them. I have to protect you JC, who else is more qualified to do that?" I ask. She knows the answer and we have already decided that this is what we are going to do. There is no changing that. Not when her future rests in my hands.
"I agree with you baby, I do. But what would this mean for our future and everyone else's?" I go to interrupt her but she holds up a finger at me, "Let's say you become a Spellbound Lycan. You would be the most powerful Alpha in the world. You would develop enemies, the council being one of them. They would actually strip you of your title, the title your father handed down to you. We would have to be on the run, because they would kill me, which would kill you. The rogues mixed in with everything calls for a disaster."
She is right. She is so right it kills me, but I don't even care. My mate and pack are number one. I need to protect both of them. I can't watch thousands of rogues tear into warriors and eventually get to my mate. We can't keep losing warriors.
If the council kills us, so be it. I will fight like hell to make sure that doesn't happen, but we are not standing by as this pack lays in waste. I will not risk them taking my mate. Because then, it will be the end as we know it.

"Don't you agree with me?" She asks once I haven't replied.
"You mean everything to me Jacqueline Claire. This pack means so much too. I can't watch as you both get destroyed. Even if it means the council doesn't like it and I make new enemies." I say honestly. JC understands, I can see it in her eyes. She knows that if it was me as a hybrid that she would want to do the same thing for me.
"Well I can't argue with you all the time." She laughs nervously and looks back toward the collage of pictures on the wall. She stands, and walks toward them.
"Your father would be so proud of you." She says, looking a picture of my dad and I when I was a kid. I haven't allowed myself to cry about my father's sudden tragic death. I haven't had time to be left alone in my thoughts. JC hasn't really brought it up either, except for now.
I want to be as great of an Alpha as my father was for this pack. I want to lead them, inspire them, make them stronger, and I want to show them how a real leader acts. I want to make my father proud.
I walk up to JC from behind, wrap my arms around her, and lean to kiss her cheek. "I hope so."
"We still need to make a decision about Bellamy and Kelly." I add and JC lets out a groan of annoyance.
"We need them, but I'm not giving in to their request." She says turning toward me and puts her arms around my neck. I place my hands on her hips, giving them a slight squeeze.
"So how are we going to get them to stay and help us?" I ask looking into her eyes as if they would speak for themselves.
"Leave it to me." She replies and kisses my lips, then pulls away. "We better not keep them waiting any longer."
JC
"So when will the witch be here to do the spell?" Kelly asks, getting excited as I enter the room with a mellow face. Theo walks in behind me and I take a seat in front of Kelly.
"Calm down, let the woman explain how the process will work first honey." Bellamy says, gently tapping Kelly's knee. She smiles bashfully, then focuses back on me more patiently.

I almost feel sorry for this couple. They obviously love each other, but so did other Alpha's and Luna's. Maybe the moon goddess has a place for all of us after death, but I can't give everyone a forever.
"There will be no process. Theo is the only one who does this, no one else." I say carefully.
Bellamy's face grows red, but he says nothing. Kelly is the first to speak, as usual. "Excuse me? You need us! You can't expect us to fight without that."
I look at her hard for a moment, to make sure she is done and then fire back. "So you are telling me that you are weak unless you become a Spellbound Lycan?" Kelly looks embarrassed and turns toward Bellamy as if he will have something to say in defense.
"There are people's lives at risk. You can choose to help us by the goodness of your heart. Or you can watch as we fight tooth and nail for everyone else in this world. If the rogues get to me, there's nothing else that can be done. It will be over. Are you ready to have a much bigger war on your hands then?"
Theo nods his head beside me and leans back against his seat. Good job babe. He mind links me.
Bellamy talks first this time, "Theo, it wouldn't be good for you to be the only Spellbound Lycan. Think of it, you will have thousands of enemies. You need more people to stand beside you, fight with you. We can be powerful together." Bellamy tries to reason.
Theo turns toward me, raising his eyebrows. "I'm not becoming that to be powerful. I am becoming that to protect my mate and everyone else. Your reason for becoming one is what? Power? Immortality? Super Strength? If we granted it to you, whose to say you wouldn't use it for the wrong things?"
Bellamy is dumbfounded this time and looks to Kelly. Kelly is looking at me with hatred in her eyes, or possibly jealously. She wouldn't want this, even though she thinks she does.
"We would use it to help you." Bellamy says as if we didn't just catch him in his real intentions. I don't think they are bad leaders or people, but they are defiantly greedy. If I would give this to anyone, it defiantly wouldn't be them.
Maybe they are a loss cause, maybe we should try to find another pack to help us. We can't let just anyone become spellbound.
"The answer is no Bellamy. You can walk away right now because you didn't get what you wanted or you can stay help us make history." I give the ultimatum and a pregnant pause follows.
Bellamy and Kelly look at each other and hesitantly stand. They walk toward the door and Theo and I follow them. They are leaving. They are actually choosing to leave us to die here.
"We will train our warriors for the battles ahead. You can count on us." Bellamy says with a little spite in his tone. Kelly gives me a slight smile. I let out a sigh of relief when they leave the room.
Theo pulls me into a long hug and we both allow each other just to breathe. We haven't been this relieved in a long time.
It doesn't last long however because a knock sounds at the door. Kelsia walks in suddenly with a bags under her eyes and bags in her hands.
"Chase said I could find you here." She says tiredly. I give her a hug and thank her for being here. She hugs me back and turns toward Theo.
"We need a fire. Those patrols are tight, so I think we can get it done fast in case another attack is soon." She orders and we start to walk down the hall, passing a few warriors finding their rooms.
"What else do you need?" I ask and Kelsia lets out a sigh, "I brought everything else. I just need you, him and the fire."
"Okay. Let's do this." Theo says with anticipation and nervousness.
Things are heating up! I'm pleasantly surprised at how many conflicts I have developing in this book. Don't worry, maybe there is more brewing !
