《The LOVE of a BETA》Chapter 8: First Date

I opened the front door of the pack house to see a dark blue expedition waiting at the bottom of the stairs with Caleb leaning against it.
My body hummed with excitement seeing the way the white V-neck t-shirt he was wearing clung to his broad shoulders. The dark blue jeans he had on were fitted and showed off his muscular thighs perfectly.
I had purposely worn my fitted jeans and tight black shirt. The shirt clung to my biceps and my jeans made my ass look good. I felt myself twitch as I watched his eyes examining me. He jumped slightly when his eyes finally met mine.
"You ready" Caleb asked with red-cheeks.
"Yeah" I replied. I made my way to the passenger side door, opened it, and got in. I was met by six green-eyes. Gideon had his arms folded and was scowling at me from the back seat. The other two were sitting in captain chairs looking absolutely terrified. I had no idea what to say so I just stared back at them.
I turned to Caleb as he got in. "Alright my loves, Beta Dane is going to start spending time with us. He has already apologized for being an ass so let's try and start fresh. Since this is the first time he is taking us out on a date, why don't you pups pick where we go" he said looking over to me with a wink.
Without hesitation Seth yelled, "Chuck E Cheese!" The other two quickly were nodding their heads in agreement.
"Alright...Chuck E Cheese it is then" Caleb exclaims.
Silently slapping myself, I should have known that "us" meant his pups. This was not how I pictured our first date but I don't have a choice. My mate and pups were a package deal.
Caleb was punching something into the GPS when I ask him, "what exactly is Chuck E Cheese?" He smirks and says "you'll see." While the mischievous gleam in his eyes made him look even more sexy, but also made me feel nervous as hell. What was I walking into to?
It was silent for the first agonizing fifteen minutes. The oldest boy finally broke the silence.
"Are you guys mates?" Gideon asks. I look over to Caleb. "Good question little bit...I'll let Beta Dane tell you" he said. His eyes didn't leave the road but I could tell he was trying not to laugh.
Well, thank you mate for throwing me under the bus I said to myself. I shifted side-ways in my seat so I could have a clear view of all of them. "Yes. Your dad and I are mates. And you all can just call me Dane" I respond.
"Are you guys going to have babies" Gideon asks.
Caleb was quietly laughing but didn't say a word. "Well...I don't know. I mean male werewolves can have babies" I awkwardly reply. I almost prefer him kicking me in the balls to his questions.
The car went quiet for another ten minutes. This had so far been to most uncomfortable car-ride I had ever been on.
"What are those pictures on your arms?" Seth quietly asks. Finally, a question that wasn't awkward as ass.

"They are called tattoos" I said.
"Why do you have them?" he asks.
"I like them. Each of the tattoos has a special meaning to me" I reply.
"Do you just have them on your arms?" Seth questions tilting his head trying to get a better look at my arm.
"No. I also have them on my back" I answer him back.
"Did it hurt when they drew them on you?"
"Yes" I replied.
"Are you going to get more?" Seth continues with his questions.
"Yes."
"Daddy...do you have any tattoos" Seth asks Caleb.
"Nope" he responds
"Mr. Dane...can I...can I see?" Seth asked nervously.
"Sure" I say putting my arm over the seat. The booster seat he was strapped in would only allow him to reach his hands to right above my wrists. He took my hand and slowly examined my arm with his eyes. I had never really paid attention to little pups before. They have only really been a nuisance to me. But I smiled watching him trace the outlines of my tattoos with his tiny finger. He seemed mesmerized by the different colors. I saw Sariah looking over at my arm as well. I looked up and gave her a quick smile. She quickly bent her down but at least she wasn't crying this time.
Seth let go of my arm and whispers out a "thank you."
"My daddy is a doctor. What are you?" Gideon asked. Goddess...this kid and his questions.
"I am the Beta" I counter.
"Yes I know. But what do you do?" he asks rudely.
"Tone it down Gideon" Caleb sternly says.
"I train the pack to fight. I am also in charge of keeping the territory and pack house safe" I inform him.
The remainder of the car-ride was spent answering question after question from Gideon and Seth. The little girl never said a word. I was exhausted by the time we arrive at a building with a large sign that said "Chuck E Cheese."
When we walked in, we were immediately assaulted by the loud screams of children and the smell of pizza. I smelt the air, no other wolves, just humans. There were table and booths all around the building. Arcade games, rides, and an indoor playground was at the center of it all.
I didn't quite get the name of the place until I saw a big plastic mouse-man statue. Maybe it's because mice like cheese..?
"Don't think too hard about it. It's loud, has food, and the kids love it" Caleb says chuckling.
"Why don't you guys go get a seat and I will order the food. Dane...the kids will need tokens to play the games. There is a token machine over there" Dane said motioning towards the corner. I gave him a quick nod and headed towards the area he pointed to. I picked us out a booth and got tokens for each of the kids. Gideon and Seth took off with the coins while Sariah sat in the booth with her head down. I could see her trembling.
I looked around and notice that the part of the room was for younger kids like Sariah and the rest for older kids. Thank goddess, I had chosen a booth on the younger kids side.

"Sariah...why don't you go a play?" I ask. She didn't look up or answer me. I took a deep breath trying to lessen my frustration. Even my Warriors knew to answer my questions.
She's scared you idiot. She's a child not a warrior. Zeus snorted at me.
I grunted.
Maybe because a man 10-times her size is glaring at her. Trying being nice! Zeus shouted.
I take another deep breath and try to make my voice as soothing as possible. "Sariah...I will go with you if you want" I tell her. She slowly looks up and nods. Hesitantly, she gets out of the booth and makes her way to a game with a rubber mallet and twelve holes. She stands in front of the game and looks back at me.
"If that's what you want to play, put the token in" I say calmly. My guess is that Caleb has done almost everything for her. She stands there for a while before she slowly puts the token in. The first time she didn't even pick up the rubber mallet. She just watches as the animals came out of the holes. She put another token in and just watches again. The third time she finally held the mallet and hit almost every single one of the animals that popped out. I'm shocked...she figured out the pattern. Well shit. Smart kid...
I knew that Caleb had sat down at the booth several minutes ago and had been watching me. Zeus whimpered knowing that he didn't trust us. I left Sariah playing the game and made my way back to Caleb. This may be a chance to get to know him better.
Taking a seat in the booth across from him, he looks at me and smiles proudly, "she's my smartest; at first people think she is slow because she doesn't talk a lot. She's not" he said almost sadly.
"Are you ok?" Caleb asked me. "That was quite a brutal car-ride."
"I survived" replying to him. His oldest was going to be a challenge.
When are going to mate him? Zeus whined.
Just then a human male teenager came over with two pizzas.
"Gideon. Seth. Sariah. Come eat!" Caleb yells. All three came running back to the table.
Dinner was filled with chatter from Gideon and Seth about how many tickets they had won. Once dinner was over, Gideon and Seth ran back to the games. They would come by the table every once in a while for a drink or more tokens. Sariah spent most of the time snuggled next to Caleb. I noticed that she would only get down to play the games closest to the booth that were available. This went on for a couple of hours. I found that Caleb and I had more in common than I thought. He was easy to talk to and had a dry-sense of humor.
Our conversation was interrupted when we heard Sariah cry. Looking over, Sariah was at the animal game again and a taller boy was next to her pulling the mullet out of her hands. Caleb quickly jumps and starts towards her. I step in front of him, stopping him from advancing.
He gave a low growl and glares at me.
"Trust me" I calmly tell him. Sparks flew when I put my hand on his chest to try and calm him down. His eyes widen and I knew he felt it too. I held my hand in-place until I felt his body relax.
Smirking, I give him a quick kiss on the cheek and head towards Sariah.
I make my way over to Sariah and stood next to her. My heart felt weird seeing her cry and I felt the need to comfort her but I also need her to stand up for herself. Someone was not always going to be there. I look over at the boy, his eyes were wide and he was scared.
"Sariah...why are you crying?"
She just looks up at me with tear stained cheeks.
"Sariah...why are you crying?" I ask more sternly.
"He...took it" she whimpers pointing to the mallet.
"Were you playing the game when he took it?" I ask.
She nods.
"Well, then you need to let him know that you were playing the game and to give you back the mallet" I tell her.
She bent her head down and her little shoulders were shaking.
Out of the corner of my eye I could see Caleb fuming. He was close to barreling over and sweeping her up in his arms. I stare at him hoping he would calm the hell down and to stay put. He glares back but at least he didn't move.
"Sariah...he is not going to hurt you. You are stronger than he is. You were using it so tell him to give the mallet back" I direct her trying not to let my voice rise.
Her little body takes a deep breath, she tightly clenches her fists, and raises her head looking right at the boy, "I was playing first. Give me" she exclaims as she snatches the mallet from the boy. The little boys eyes widen and he quickly scampers off.
I look over at Caleb and give him a wink. He blushes and looks away. Looking back down at Sariah, her eyes are bright with confidence and she's beaming.
"See. Don't be scared of anybody Sariah. You are strong and you have to let people know that they can't take advantage of you" I say smiling proudly.
She runs to Caleb and he scoops her up in his arms. "Good job baby girl" he whispers in her ear.
He put her down in the booth and looks back at me intently.
"Thank you" he quietly said. He took a step towards me and gives me a kiss on my cheek. Sparks flew again when I felt his lips on my skin. I shudder when he pulls back trying to ignore the growing bulge between my legs. Definitely not the place or the time...
Caleb turns and calls for Gideon and Seth. I took the opportunity to let my eyes admire his perky little ass.
"Like what you see?" Caleb smirks looking over his shoulder.
"Hell yeah" I whisper.
