Zane's POV
"Let go of my brother!" Y/n shouts as she jumps off her dragon. In what seems like slow motion, she draws back her hand as if winding up for a punch, and when she gets close enough to the overlord, she thrusts both her arms forwards. A mix of elements shoot out of her palms, and the blast is so powerful it knocks me down to the ground.
Y/n takes my place between the spikes of the armour, only she's not touching them. Her arms are still in front of her, forming a surge of f/c energy.
I groan as I get back onto my feet. "Y/n!" I call. "Get down from there!"
She ignores me. The overlord starts throwing punches, but y/n fights back with everything she's got. She blocks all his attacks, and the power swirling around her becomes stronger.
I shield my eyes from the brightness as y/n's power overwhelms the overlord. The overlord backs away slightly, which distracts him long enough for him to drop his hold on all our teammates.
"Come on, y/n!" Kai cries, rooting for her. "Beat his sorry little ass!"
———-Lloyd's POV——
As soon as I'm free from the overlord's tentacle thingie, I bolt towards where Zane is standing. Once I get there, I keep going and start summoning a dragon, wanting to go up to help y/n.
"Whoa—where do you think you're going?" Zane asks as he grabs me by the arm.
"I have to help her!" I cry. "I can't just stand here and do nothing!"
I try to resist against Zane, but he holds me by my shoulders. "If you go up there, you'll break her focus and you'll both be killed!"
"I love her, Zane! I can't let her do this alone!"

With that, Zane lets go of me so I can summon my dragon. I fly up to join y/n, but once I'm looking at her from above, I lose my concentration and I crash into her.
"Lloyd!" She cries, surprised by my arrival. I had fallen right on top of her, but she caught me before I could plummet to the ground.
"How are you...?" I ask, noticing that she's literally hovering ten meters of the ground.
She looks down, but still remains pressing her powers against the overlord. "Holy crap that's high!"
"Well, it looks like you've mastered the power of gravity," I say with a laugh despite the situation.
Y/n takes a deep breath and closes her eyes. "Don't look down don't look down don't look down," she mutters.
"Don't worry, I've got you," I assure her, holding onto her waist.
She blushes, and unfortunately, the overlord notices that she's slightly distracted; he sends a large ball of dark matter hurling towards us. Dammit—Zane was right. Y/n yelps and releases her control over gravity, allowing us to fall to the ground.
We tumble onto the street, but although I got up right away, y/n remains on the ground.
"Y/n?" I ask, going over to her. She's lying on her side, and her head is bleeding.
"What happened?!" Nya cries as she comes over.
"She must have hit her head," I say, rubbing my own. Why does my head hurt so much? I'm not the one who landed on it.
"You okay, buddy?" Cole asks me.
"Yeah," I answer with a grimace. The headache is worsening.
"Hmm," Sensei mutters, stroking his beard. He's looking back and forth between y/n and me curiously.
"Uh, guys?" Jay exclaims. "We might wanna regroup somewhere else!"

I scoop up y/n and carry her as we all run away from the overlord. "Argh!" I mumble. "Why is my head pounding?"
"I think I have an explanation for that," Sensei says as we reach the side of a building.
"What?"
"I'll explain later," he says, much to my annoyance. "It's related to how y/n can use golden power as well."
"W-where am I?" Y/n mumbles. "What happened?"
"You hit your head," I explain. "And it feels like I hit mine, but I don't remember."
"Okay, it's later," Sensei says, as if impatient with himself. "I'm tired of waiting, so I'm going to tell you now."
"Tell us what?" Y/n asks.
"You two are soulmates."
Y/n and I exchange glances, then turn back to Sensei.
"I thought that was common knowledge..." Nya says, confused.
"It is," Sensei replies. "But in this case, the term 'soulmates' has a different meaning: your souls are physically linked together."
"Linked?" Cole asks. "As in... connected? Or chained together?"
Sensei shrugs. "How would I know? This isn't supposed to be a real thing."
"Linked souls don't work the way most souls do," Misako says, aiding Sensei in explaining. "When one of you gets hurt, the other will feel the pain as well."
"Okay..." I say, trying to wrap my head around this concept. "That would explain my headache. But when did this even start? And what does this have to do with the golden power?"
"I'm not entirely sure, but there is one thing that comes to mind," Sensei says. "When y/n helped Lloyd face the overlord the first time, she gave a bit of her soul—unknowingly, of course—to you, in order to change your destiny. In return, you must have transferred some of your soul to her, and now you have a deep connection."
"So that's why y/n can use Lloyd's element," Jay realizes.
"But, Sensei... if y/n contains some of Lloyd's golden power, then that means..." Zane thinks out loud, but he trails off.
"They have to face the overlord together, as one unit."
"Sure," y/n says weakly. "Just give me a five minute power nap and then we can go kick his ass."
Everyone's laughter was interrupted when a ball of darkness comes whirling towards us. I scoop up y/n and dodge to the side, barely making it out of the way in time.
"I know you're exhausted," I say to her as I set her down on her feet. "But we need to fight him. Now."
She nods. "Okay," she breathes.
Without thinking, I lean down and kiss her... just in case I won't have another chance.

Ancient Bones: The Changed Ones book 1 (Post-Post Apocalypse LitRPG)
Is it truly an RPG Apocalypse... if no one can see the RPG? Generations after the Fall, Mankind has achieved a balance in a world it is no longer the master of. But your prospects in this Malthusian world are limited. Johanna Milton and her friends have an answer: delve into Ancient ruins, avoid Changed beasts and mana pockets, and salvage Ancient materials, collectibles, and trinkets to sell. It pays well if you avoid the perils of the Ancient world. But when they find the skeleton of an Ancient, their lives take a strange turn. Suddenly, Talents straight out of fantasy novels become theirs. While they try to make sense of what happens, eyes turn to them, to the four who seem to break all rules. Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. It is an homage to the venerable ancient RPGs of the Golden Box era, the Baldur's Gates, and many others, offering adventure where You must gather your party before venturing forth. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.

How The Weak Live
This was a rough draft. Quite a meh one. The newer version is These Games of Ours. ---------- Lucious is deserter among many, living by dagger and beggary. Argento’s thirst for knowledge is endless, as is his belly. Kora is the perfect soldier, yet her sword grows dull in monotony. Formally known as the Empire's legend, the Captain is now stuck in stagnation. The Gods, grown weary of human deeds, have decided to indulge themselves in a different way. -------------- THE 7 REALLY IMPORTANT STUFF Clichés shall be avoided like the cancerous tumors they are. The world shall not spread its pink butt cheeks for the main character’s convenience. No character shall be thinner than one slice of white American cheese. No female character shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main character is. No villain shall serve to highlight how overpowered and fabulous the main characters are. Grammar laws shall be upheld sometimes. I, the author, swear not to be a prick. I, the author, swear not to go away without warning. If other LitRPGs are like Skyrim, then this is going to be a combination of Dark Souls and Total War. Don't expect action for the sake of action. Be warned, this is a slow novel. Read the reviews to see if this novel is a decent fit for you. Disclaimer: I do not own that gorgeous cover art.
