《I'm A Krieger Harris》Chapter Fifteen

- Paige's POV -
Camp was only a few days long so here I am, walking into school. On a Monday. Of all days.
I still haven't really talked to Pinoe. I know she regrets what she did but I can't forgive her yet.
Anyways, I get out of my car before heading to the door I always enter through.
"Krieger Harris." A voice to my right says and it's the principal. "Follow me." Well shit, this can't be good. I follow him through the school and to his office.
"So... What's going on?" I ask. "I was just going to inform you that what happened at the assembly was totally uncalled for and we did not know that those things were going to be said. I want you to understand that none of this was your fault, and I am sorry for your lost." He explains. "Yeah I knew that, and thank you." I say quietly, not looking him in the eye. "Also, your third period is now your free period, your third is now your fifth." "Okay." I say. "You're free. Have a nice day back, Miss Harris." "Thanks." I say and leave his office, before walking to first period.
It was an okay first two periods of school, and now I'm walking to Danielle's classroom, since attendence was already taken. Oh and yeah she's now the full time science teacher for a few classes. Once I get to her classroom, she looks super concentrated on whatever she was reading on a paper. The door was shut so I had to knock. She looked up and smiled before coming to open the door.
"Hey Paige, I thought you weren't here today." She says and we hug when I get in the room. "Yeah I'm here." I say. "Wait a minute, you just talked!" She exclaims. "Yep. That I did." I say and look down. "Oh thank God. I've been so fucking worried about you." She says quietly. "I know and I'm sorry." I say. "Don't worry about it." She says. "Anyways, how's teaching?" I ask. "It's great! Alot of the kids are super nice, and they're all pretty smart." She says. "Good, good." I say. "Do you have a fucking book in your hoodie pocket? It's also about to fall out." She asks me. We're sitting across from each other at the lab counter. I look down and remember my songbook is there. "Oh yeah." I say and pull it out, laying it on the counter. "Oh my god, I haven't seen that since..." "Since the day of the accident." I say. "Do you have any pictures of all of us?" I ask. "Yeah why?" Danielle asks. "A teammate found and kept my songbook but ruined the letter from mom and dad and lost my only picture of us." I say as I hand her the paper. "Who because I will beat-" "No you won't." I say. "Yeah I have pictures. I know this was the last three things you had of them." She says. "Yeah, but I do thankfully have the letter memo- Wait, do you think they knew this accident was gonna happen? I mean with the way the letter to me was written, and it was kinda a hit and run?" I say. "I don't know, maybe. But Paige, do not go snooping please." She says. "I won't." I say then the bell rings. "Well, I'm gonna go get lunch." I say. "Alright, bye Pai." "Bye." I say and leave the science room.

While at lunch, I'm sitting in the cafeteria eating when I feel a presence in front of me, so I look up to see two of my school teammates. Shana and Brooklyn.
"Hey Paige, we know we haven't been really been close, but we were wanting to invite you to a party tonight, seeing as you are a teammate. One of the boys on the boys soccer team is hosting it at his place, and he invited basically the whole school. So, wanna come?" Shana explains and asks. "Uh... I'd have to ask my moms." I say. "Can you maybe do that now?" "Uh yeah, sure." I say and pull my phone from my pocket.
I texted and asked and they both said I could. They're not in town for the rest of today or tomorrow. "They said I could." I say. "Okay, cool. What you're wearing right now is totally great for tonight, so you could just come with us after school." "No, that's okay. You could just pick me up before the party. I'd rather shower and freshen up first." I say. "Oh well that's okay. I can give you my number." Brooklyn says. "Sure." I say and hand her my phone. A few seconds pass before she hands me my phone back. "We will be there to pick you up at nine, so just text me your address." "Okay, cool." I say and they tell me later and leave.
I feel like something is up.
- 9:30 PM -
"Okay, for real you two, what the fuck is going on? I know that thay kid doesn't live here. This is city property and that's a no trespassing sign." I say when we get out of Brooklyn's car. "Oh come on, have a little fun for once!" Shana says. "No. I'm not getting arrested if cops come out here. I have a reputation to uphold." I say. "Of course you do." Brooklyn says. "Either come party, or you're off the soccer team." Shana says. She's our soccer captain. "I knew I was being set up." I say. "What's it gonna be Harris? Are you just gonna walk away and be off the team or live a little dangerously?" Brooklyn asks. "I guess I'm gonna walk away. I don't need to be on a highschool team." I say and turn on my heel to start walking. "Have a sucky life without fun then!" I hear one of them yell from behind me. Once I turn in the direction we came, I pull out my phone as I'm walking on the side of the old road and put in directions for Alex's house. Oh would you look at that? It's literally an hour by walking. In the dark. Alone. But I honestly don't care.
I get maybe twenty minutes into the walk to her place, and a cop lights up their lights. There's been other cars but no one stopped. I stop and the cop car blocks my way of walking. "Hey, Krieger Harris." A female voice says beside me. I look over to see one of our student resource officers. "Hey Officer Baker." I say and get closer to her cruiser. "What are you doing all the way out here this late?" She asks me. "Uh nothing." I say and scratch the back of my neck. "Do you really wanna lie to a cop? I know you're not like this." She says so I sigh. "I'm just trying to get somewhere. I was set up and there's a party going on on private property owned by the city." I say. "Well get in and I'll give ya a ride home." She says. "I couldn't let you do that. You're probably busy anyways." I say. "No actually. I just got off duty. Get in." She says and motions to the passenger side. I reluctantly get in the other side of her car and she says something into the radio about the party and turns us around.

"Where to?" She asks. (A/N- this address and street is made up) "146 Maine Drive." I say. "Okay." She says. It's a quiet ride to Alex's place. "Let's go." She says and gets out. I don't know why she gets out.
- Alex's POV -
I'm chilling on the couch with Blue when the doorbell rings. Who could it be at this time of night? It's ten thirty. I walk to the front door and open it, revealing a female officer and Paige next to her.
"Good Evening, I'm Officer Baker and I was just making sure Paige got here safely, but Miss Morgan, I know you're not her mother." Officer Baker says and looks at Paige with a small frown and Paige looked away from her. "Paige, why did you get brought here by Officer Baker?" I ask the teenager. "I'd rather explain in a little bit." She says and I let out a sigh. "Come on in." I say and Paige walks in and past me. Once I hear her talking to Blue, I turn back to Officer Baker. "I was on my way home and found her walking on the side of Davis Road out in the outskirts of Orlando. She said something about a setup and a party. I alerted other officers about the party since the kids are trespassing. As far as I know, Paige didn't trespass." She explains. "Okay. Thank you." I say. "No problem. Have a nice night." She says. "You too." I say and she walks away from the door so I shut it.
I walk back to the living room to find Paige sitting on the floor with her knees to her chest petting Blue. I sit back down on the couch and just watch her with Blue.
"Sorry for just showing up. Especially with a cop." She says. "It's okay kiddo." I say. "Why didn't you just go home though?" I ask. "Moms are in Satellite Beach and I don't wanna be alone." She answers. "Oh, well that makes sense." I say and she nods. "Would you care to explain what happened?" I ask softly. "Sure..." She says. "Uhm at lunch Shana and Brooklyn who are two of my teammates, well ex teammates now asked invited me to a party and I knew the host of the party which he's on the boy's soccer team lives here in the city but we ended up at a farm owned by the city and there were no trespassing signs. I told them I wasn't trespassing and they said I'm off the team if I walk away so they asked if I'm walking away or gonna live a little dangerously. I walked away because I'm not a person to break the rules." She explains. "But you love soccer." I say. "I've got the national team. I come to some of the Pride practices. It's fine, and plus that's the first time they've actually talked to me in a conversation." She says. "God you deserve so much better." I say. "Nah. I'm fine with my life as it is. Nothing's perfect." She says. "You're one hella smart human being." I say. "I know." She says and lets out a small chuckle as she gets up. "Is it okay if I crash here?" She asks. "Yeah of course. I mean you have your own room here." I say. That's true, she does. "Thanks Aunt Alex, you're the best." She says and hugs me. "You're welcome, and I know." I say and we laugh. "I guess I'm gonna go sleep. Goodnight. And dont tell my moms about this please." "I won't, don't worry. Goodnight Pai, sleep well." I say and she gives me a soft smile before going upstairs.
She's a good, smart, kid.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.

Gamer
This story is abandoned and has not been authorized for distribution on any sites but RoyalRoad. Given the Gamer ability after shattering a crystal inside a game, Jon's world is upturned as he is thrown into a life he considered fantasy. Making new enemies and encountering a god, he cannot escape the quest which is forced on him. Different worlds and different situations, can he come out on top? He's neither perfect nor a saint, he is Jon. Welcome to Gamer. This has been dropped, I didn't like the way I forced a few plotpoints and I lost my notes on the story itself. Read below if you want to be spoilered. As far as I recall, he would change race into a higher human after using a spell to overload his mana repeatably until his body forcibly adapts, he would train up his rift usage spell with some better targets than God's Realm because he keeps hitting his stats limit until the cost lowers enough that he can actually grind it. His world is being invaded by multiple worlds, so the god had many backup plans where a lot of people went into their own fantasy settings and came back to defend Earth. Jon never is the strongest one out there, he has to keep grinding and grinding before he gets stronger than the other heroes, and at that point the invasion is nearing the final stretch. Jon's two biggest advantages is that he can keep grinding without hitting a cap he can't evolve, and that even when he is eventually killed. He would have respawned in the nearest 'Safe Zone' after dropping a level and everything he did to gain that level. I also had a bunch of ideas for mini-arcs where he would play in multiple worlds in multiple situations, not that great of an idea in retrospect.
