- Ash's POV -
Ali and I are having some alone time since we have the house to ourselves.
And by alone time... Well you can figure that out yourself.
"Ash... Aaaaash." Ali moans.
- Paige's POV -
Jade, Oakley, and I walk into the house laughing at something Oakley said, and we walk towards the kitchen after setting our stuff down to get some drinks.
"Oh shit!" I say as I see something I didn't want to see, and both Jade and I cover Oakley's eyes.
I shut my eyes, as I am trying to get that image out of my eyes.
"Oops!" I hear Mom. "We'll be right back." Mama says before we hear the two run upstairs.
I feel someone grab my shirt and pull me back gently.
"I don't even wanna know what just happened." Oakley says. "Trust us, you really don't." Jade says.
"You okay, beautiful?" Jade asks. "Nope, no." I say as I rub my face. I feel her arms wrap around me as she pulls my head into her chest.
"I really wish I could unsee that." I mumble. "I know, me too." She says. "Well I mean I've walked in on them before but it's just worse every time." I say.
After a little bit, Mom's awkwardly walk into the room.
"Hey, how was the beach?" Mama asks.
"Amazing." All three of us say, acting like nothing happened. "That's good." Mom says and we nod.
We then carry on, forgetting what just happened.
- The Next Day -
"Alright everyone, food is ready, get what you'd like." Mom comes outside and announces to all of Jade, Oakley, Danielle, Sonnett, and I.
We all stand up before heading inside to get a plate of food. We all do and wait for each other to sit down.

We go around, saying what we're thankful for, which has always been a tradition for us, even in Jade and Sonnett's families.
Mom's talk about their appreciation for each other, and our family.
Sonnett talks about how she's thankful for family, biological and football, her job, and friends.
"First of all I would like to say that I'm thankful to be able to join this beautiful family for dinner tonight, so thank you, Ash, Ali." My girlfriend says and Mom's nod with a smile. "I'm thankful to still be alive for another year, have a job in which I help others, have a family, now a newly welcomed one, and be able to call this beautiful woman my girlfriend." Jade says with a smile and looks at me near the end, which she kisses my temple when she finishes speaking.
Then Danielle goes.
"I'm thankful to also be part of the family in which my little sister grew up with, and that after a long time I was able to reunite with her after we both went through a lot. I'm also thankful that I was able to meet this amazing woman in who I will be marrying soon." She says as she and Sonnett look at each other.
"I'm thankful to have a family that didn't give me or my sister up after the first few days. One that provided us with all of the resources we needed. A family that we, well... I fit into very well in my own opinion. Which I don't think we ever said, but thank you, Moms." Oakley says, and hugs Moms. Then everyone's attention turns to me.
"Well. I've done a lot of thinking these past few days, wondering what I'm thankful for. There's many things this year, but I have one in particular... I've been through a lot in the past year, and beyond that. I am thankful for life, but that's not the particular one I have in mind. On my mind, I've had the thoughts of why I've been able to make it through everything, and I've come to the same conclusion everytime. I was raised to fight, I was raised to never give up. I was raised to continue on, no matter what and I've done that every single time I've been faced with a conflict in which half the time I wanted to stop going. I'm going off of my own little winged message real quick to say that of course I'm thankful for all of you and our family, especially being able to luckily meet this amazing and incredible woman sitting next to me while I was abroad for a job and she just happened to be on vacation." I say and everyone laughs as I kiss her cheek. And I look around to see that no one has a dry eye.

"But I'm very happy to have come to the conclusion I did, and am beyond happy to be who I am today, and what I became when I was just six years old, thanks to my Moms." I say, and look at the two. "So in conclusion, what are you thankful for, Pai?" Oakley asks.
"It's not a thankful for, it's a thankful because." I say, and notice some confused looks.
I look at my Mom and Mama as I say this.
"I'm thankful for my Moms because I'm A Krieger Harris."

Demons Don't Lie
Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally. It's up to the reader to decide what is the truth and what is the lie. Promotion Full quality cover image
