《Harrisons - The Last Chapter》Chapter Twelve: A Big Announcement
Advertisement
The day after the wedding, Maria and Silas were invited for dinner at Marcus's place. The entire Wayne and Harrison family was invited. Since Elizabeth and Leo would be leaving in two days – Marcus and Charlie decided to host the dinner before they go. The dinner was thrown to celebrate Maria and Silas's wedding and also because the couple has an important announcement to make.
Owen was the first one to arrive, following Elizabeth and Leo. Although, Charlie asked Leo to bring Liam and Sharon along – who were in the town as well, as everyone expected Leo didn't bring them along. The fact that Sharon is Elizabeth's attacker's mother and Liam is her son – Leo knew things could get a little intense at the dinner. He decided to keep them separated from the Harrisons – much to Elizabeth's displease. Maria, Silas, Franklin, and Ezra were to arrive together in the last. Marcus let out a soft groan when he saw Silas walking in with his dog on the leash. As soon as Bear saw Marcus he snarled. Marcus rolled his eyes and walked into the kitchen, while everyone laughed.
Marcus's house come to life with his entire family were in present in his house, with the kids screaming and playing along with the dog, Franklin and Owen were chatting in the living room, Maria and Leo were talking among themselves. Charlie was upstairs feeding Ella while Silas and Elizabeth were nowhere to be seen and Marcus was in the kitchen. He decided to help his cook and staff in the kitchen. Although Charlie prepared lasagna and the bread, the rest of the dishes were prepared by the cooks and Marcus helped them all. That's the least he could do.
"Jesus, Elizabeth. You are disgusting! I am going to throw up!" Silas gagged as he swiftly climbed down the stairs with a laughing Elizabeth following her down. Marcus chuckled as saw Silas muttering something under his breath with a scowl on his face. Since he could see everyone in the living room, his eyes went to Leo – who pinched the bridge of his nose – he knows how his girlfriend can be.
Silas walked into the kitchen with Elizabeth on his tail. "What? So, what did you think? Your sister never had sex? Pfft, brother – Leo has done some pretty amazing things," She rolled her eyes in delight as she mumbled. A foul taste embraced his mouth as he wrinkled his nose and along with Silas groaned at the mention of his sister doing things with her boyfriend. To make things worse, Leo entered the kitchen just at the time when Elizabeth was busy telling them about – stuff.
Leo's eyes widened, "Elizabeth!" He spoke in pure horror. Elizabeth turned to look at Leo, whose cheeks had gone red and eyes widened. "For the love of God," He mumbled under his breath. Elizabeth laughed – she was the only one that believed it was funny. She was laughing while the three men stood in complete horror. Marcus often forgets how his sister doesn't have a filter in her.
Silas grimace, "I am going to throw up," He mumbled and aimed for the sink.
Marcus glared at his brother, "Not in the sink, Silas. In fact, not in the kitchen. Go to the bathroom – it is bad enough I have to clean my kid's vomit almost every day." Marcus told him and pushed his brother of the kitchen. Silas didn't object – he didn't want to be around her sister. So, he could his chance and rushed out of the kitchen. Marcus heaved a sigh and looked at smirking Elizabeth. Her smirk slowly wore off when she saw how unamused her elder brother looked. She scoffed, "Relax, will you? I was just teasing him. He was being an ass." She tried to justify.

Leo heaved a sigh and shook his head, "You are impossible," He told his girlfriend. Elizabeth looked at his and winked. "Please, don't do that again – it's –" Leo was lost of words.
"Scaring? Appalling? Certifiable psychotic?" Marcus spoke while glaring at his sister, who still thinks that it is funny to mess with her brothers like this.
Leo glanced at Marcus, "Yeah," he softly mumbled. Elizabeth gasped and punched Leo's arm. Leo looked completely unfazed by the punch. She turned to look at her brother, "Don't be a douche, Marcus. It is not like you haven't rocked Charlie's –" She couldn't even complete her sentence due to the intense glare she received from both her brother and Leo.
"Get out of here," Marcus spoke sternly. Elizabeth didn't have to be told twice. She cursed under her breath and skipped out of the kitchen. Marcus barely ever gets angry, but when he does – it can get catastrophic.
Leo awkwardly scratch the nape of his neck, "I am sorry about her," He pointed his thumb towards Elizabeth, who was now sitting beside her father – taking part in whatever conversation he and Franklin were into.
Marcus exhaled, "Yeah, well – I am sorry too." He chuckled softly. He saw a ghost of a smile appearing on Leo's face. "She is crazy," Marcus commented – wiping his hands off the towel.
"Tell me about it," Leo replied amusingly. This is the most the two talk since Leo came to attend the wedding.
Leo soon walked out of the kitchen and entered Charlie with a baby monitor in her hand, "I put Ella down for a nap. We are good for at least an hour," She chuckled and fetched a bottle of water from the fridge. She glanced out in the living room to see everyone sitting around and talking to each other. "I will miss this," She heaved a sigh.
Marcus followed her gaze and smiled when he saw his somewhat disoriented family having a good time together in his living room, "Me too," He replied. "Growing up, I didn't get to feel at home like I do now with you and all of them. It feels nice," He mumbled.
Charlie smiled and hugged Marcus from the side. Elizabeth and Leo will be leaving in two days. Owen will head back to London for a couple of months for work purposes. Franklin will return to Chicago and Silas and Maria will be moving to their new house and soon they will get busy with their family. They heard Kathie's laughter and mutually looked towards her to see her play with Bear. Charlie smiled, "She is growing up too fast," She spoke softly.
Marcus smiled flattened as he notice how his daughter's height has increased. Her curly hair has grown longer. She talks a little more maturely with age. She is still a little girl, but she is no longer just his tiny little girl, and one day – one day she will grow up, and Marcus not be his favorite person anymore. He dreads that day. He hates how fast she is growing. "Hmm," He only hummed. He is not ready to have a conversation about his little girl growing up.
After an hour, the dinner was ready. The food was on the dining table and the Harrisons and Wayne's sat around the table. Marcus stood on his feet before they ate with a glass of wine in his hand. He raised the glass, "To Silas and Maria and the beautiful life they have ahead of them," He proposed a toast. Everyone smiled and clinked their glasses, cheering the good wishes to the newly married couple, and drank their wines.

Marcus and Charlie shared a glanced and decided that it was time to announce their news, "Well, apart from the fact that we all are here to celebrate Maria and Silas's wedding. Charlie and I have another news to share with you all," Marcus announced. Charlie looked at him and smiled. They both held their hands together while Marcus was still on his feet – Charlie sat on the chair beside him. All the curious eyes fell on them.
Elizabeth gasped, "Oh my God, you are pregnant again!" She pointed her finger at Charlie with her eyes widened.
Marcus quickly brought his eyebrows together, "What? No!" He spoke. "God, no!" Charlie spoke at the same time. Maria chuckled and Silas grinned at the horror on the couple's faces – they already have their hands full with Kathryn and Ella.
Elizabeth slowly slid back into her chair, "Oh," she mumbled. As Marcus was about to say something, she gasped again, "Oh my God, you both are moving away from here!" She guessed again. Silas rolled his eyes at his sister this time. Maria and Charlie looked amused, while Leo softly chuckled at his girlfriend.
Marcus dully looked at his sister, "Lizzy, no." He told her.
Elizabeth squinted, "You dying?" She asked.
Everyone looked at Elizabeth with horror, "God, Elizabeth." Owen said as he shook his head. She slowly sunk in her chair while Leo held her hand under the table, "Jeez, fine. Say it," She mumbled. Leo chuckled and looked at her while she was looking down at their intertwined fingers.
Marcus sighed, "Well, we wanted to announce that Charlie and I have decided to get married," He announced with a smile while Charlie grinned at him.
Elizabeth huffed, "We already know that. You both are engaged – since like forever," She commented. Charlie chuckled at her comment, while Marcus only passed his sister an annoyed look. Leo smashed his lips together, trying to suppress the smile. Elizabeth shrugged and took a sip of wine from her glass.
"Tomorrow," Marcus added.
This Elizabeth to spew the wine out of her mouth and to the person that was sitting right across her – which unfortunately was Silas, "Jesus, Elizabeth!" He scolded as he wiped the wine off his face and clothes with a napkin, but no one paid him attention as they all were surprised by Marcus's announcement.
"Tomorrow? As the tomorrow? The next day from today?!" Elizabeth exclaimed – her eyes widened. Maria had her mouth ajar with her hand on her chest – still trying to process the news. Silas was busy trying to take the wine stain off his shirt. Owen and Franklin looked at Marcus with their eyes widened and their lips shaped into a big grin. Leo looked at Charlie and Marcus with his eyebrow raised. While Bear was busy eating his dinner in the corner, Kathie was still giggling at Elizabeth spewing wine on Silas.
Charlie smiled, "We know it kind of a sudden, but we don't want to wait longer and we also don't want a lavish wedding. We just want you all to be a part of it and since Elizabeth and Leo are going back the day after tomorrow, we decided to do it tomorrow. We will have it in our house – in the backyard," She replied. "We hope you all are free tomorrow," She added cheekily.
Pure bliss and congratulatory wishes took over the surprising atmosphere. All of them got on their feet and hugged Charlie and Marcus. By the time, Elizabeth hugged her brother, she was crying her eyes out. "I am so happy for you," she softly sobbed. Marcus chuckled and hugged her tightly. "I can't wait for tomorrow," she added as she snuffled.
Maria gathered her crutches and stood up. She walked to Charlie and embraced her in a tight hug. The two women didn't have to exchange words. The mist in their eyes and the tight embrace was enough. Franklin was next to hug Charlie. Charlie sniffled, "Will you walk me down the aisle?" She asked him softly. Franklin kissed her on the head and hugged her again, "Of course, I will, sweety. Of course, I will." He replied.
Leo ruffled Charlie's hair and hugged, "Congratulations, Charlie. I am happy for you." He smiled at her. Charlie smiled and thanked him. The two of them have come a long way. Charlie still can't believe she had such a hardcore crush on him. She is glad things didn't work out between them, because she can't that there is another man for her other than Marcus.
"Hey, how about we men go out for drinks and play a little pool – you know, to celebrate Marcus's last night as a bachelor?" Silas proposed.
Elizabeth grinned, "And we girls can have our own girl's night! More like Charlie's bachelorette party!" She clapped her hands excitedly.
Charlie smiled and nodded her head while Maria chewed her lower lip, "Um, but what about the kids?" She asked.
"Our sitter can look after the kids for a couple of hours," Charlie proposed.
Maria wasn't sure if she was comfortable leaving Ezra with a sitter, but when she saw the glee on Charlie's face – she smiled and nodded her head – maybe she can – just for a night.
"It is settled then," Owen announced. "We all are celebrating tonight!" Before he looked at Leo, who was silently standing beside Charlie, he added, "That includes you too, young man." He pointed out.
Leo looked at Owen. He wasn't sure about it. It was more of a family night out for the men – he wasn't sure if he could fit in.
He opened his mouth to object but Owen didn't let him, "I don't care what you have to say. You are a part of our family and you are joining us. End of it. Now, let's eat people!" He grinned.
Elizabeth smiled as Leo nodded and sat on his chair. She looked at her father, who winked at her. She was glad her father was dragging Leo with them. She wants him to feel at home with her family.
