Yue Lingsi did not know what happened. It was late at night when she just disembarked from the plane.

She had been working hard for Yueying in the past few days, so she was exhausted.

She got the driver to send her to Hospital T as she got into the car because she had something for Deng Wenwen to review. Although Xi Xinyi and her were in charge of Yueying now, they still needed to report back to Deng Wenwen. Otherwise, they would be in for a harsh scolding if there were any mistakes.

Yue Lingsi was quite dismayed by it. While Deng Wenwen said she was handing the business over, she would not allow them to make many decisions. Yueying was still Deng Wenwen's turf now, so Yue Lingsi probably would not even have the right to speak if she was not from the Yue family!

This stubborn old lady had been suppressing her since forever. Although she treated her quite decently, Yue Lingsi was not comfortable being ordered around by her every day, especially when Xi Xinyi still had to report back to her every night even though she declared that she was handing Yueying over to Xi Xinyi. From her perspective, the two of them had become Deng Wenwen's puppets!

Unbeknownst to Yue Lingsi, a powerful storm was brewing right inside Deng Wenwen's room in Hospital T!

Deng Wenwen was sitting on her bed with a tablet in her hand. Her face was strained and she could not believe what she was seeing. Her eyes widened as her hands trembled.

Her assistant beside her was feeling afraid, and even uneasy.

"What should we do now, CEO Deng? This has evolved into quite big news. I can't reach Mrs. Yue and Miss Xinyi isn't picking up my calls as well. All the stakeholders are panicking. If this goes on, then Yueying will really be done for!"

The assistant looked at Deng Wenwen anxiously.

She was here to deliver the news to Deng Wenwen. The news had spread lightning fast after it was released on Weibo, and it was too late to stop it. Several directors close to Yue Lingsi had called her office number, but she was abroad. Upon realizing the severity of the situation, the assistant rushed over to find Deng Wenwen, hoping to find a solution and stop it. Otherwise, things would totally spiral out of control!

No doubt this was another huge blow to worsen Yueying's current situation. With the departure of Yueying's second-largest stakeholder and half of the higher management staff leaving together, it was already nearly lethal for them. Now, with Yue Lingsi's scandal...

Deng Wenwen stared at the news on the screen and her eyes turned blank as she continued reading further down whilst her whole body trembled uncontrollably.

Thud!

The tablet fell out of her trembling hands and crashed onto the floor.

"Impossible... Impossible... This is impossible! Not possible! Impossible!" Deng Wenwen mumbled to herself. She seemed out of it as she could not believe what she just read. She gaped at the assistant blankly and went on muttering.

"This is impossible. She worked by my side closely for many years. How could she do something like that? Impossible! Impossible! Investigate quickly who used these to defame Lingsi and is trying to strike a final blow at Yueying? I don't believe it. Lingsi would never do this! Never!"

Deng Wenwen trusted Yue Lingsi a lot, so she could not accept it.

"CEO Deng, are you alright?" The assistant bent over to pick the tablet up as she looked at Deng Wenwen with concern.

"I'm alright! Go investigate who is trying to defame her! What about the Yue family? What did they say? I should call them right now. Quick, give me the phone! The phone!" Deng Wenwen grabbed her blanket tightly and struggled to sit up as she frantically searched the bedside table.

The assistant went up and handed the phone to her.

Deng Wenwen's hands were quivering slightly as she was a little short of breath. She anxiously looked through her contact list and then gave a call to the Yue family.

After just several beeps, the call was ended!

In shock, Deng Wenwen called again and got the same result!

No one was picking up!

Deng Wenwen could feel that something was not right. Feeling suffocated, she pressed her chest when she found it hard to breathe. She calmed herself down after a while and continued calling the Yue family, but no one picked up again...

Her eyes darkened as the uneasiness inside her grew stronger by the second.

Could Yue Lingsi really have done all these behind her back?

Deng Wenwen then remembered how Xi Mushan forced Yue Lingsi to divorce with him. Maybe...

She then forced herself to calm down.

"CEO Deng, is no one picking up?" asked the assistant carefully when she saw Deng Wenwen's expression cloud over. She was freaking out as well. She was worried and afraid to see Deng Wenwen like this!

"What exactly happened?" Deng Wenwen's face changed as she grabbed the tablet back from the assistant. She stared blankly at the indecent photos on the screen.

While the photos were dark, it was clearly Yue Lingsi's face. The man she was with had sunglasses on, but at first glance at his stature, Deng Wenwen recognized it was Arthur, the artiste they were cultivating right now. Back then, Yue Lingsi was the one who had recommended him!

After staring at it for a while, Deng Wenwen suppressed her emotions and tried her best to keep calm. She demanded, "Where's Arthur? Where is he now?"

"CEO Deng, we've contacted Arthur, but his phone is switched off. Even his manager doesn't know where is he right now. We can't find him at all! Maybe CEO Yue might know where he is," the assistant replied with a frown.

The long night dragged on.

It was quiet around the Grand Waves Villa area. Inside the warm Maple Residence, Xi Xiaye came out of the bathroom after taking a shower. She saw the man sitting in the living room watching TV while drinking some tea.

"What are you watching?"

She sat down beside him as he poured her a cup of tea and handed her the remote control. "Nothing really interesting."

"Caitlyn's new movie is pretty impressive. I heard it did very well at the box office. Want to take a look?" Xi Xiaye then searched for the movie.

"Li Si cleared out West Park. You didn't really talk to me about it the whole night. Don't you have anything to say?" Mu Yuchen sipped some tea, then he put his cup down and glanced over at her. His eyes were looking right at her adorable little face.

She looked down at her cup and toyed with it for a little while before letting out a sigh. Turning to face him, she said, "I've seen the news. I didn't know things would escalate this way. Many people say that we're..."

"Just let them be. People have freedom of speech. We can't just block their mouths, can we? You worry too much, always being too considerate about everything. That's why you're always so restricted." He put his arm over her shoulder as his tone sounded a little helpless. "Do you think I'm wrong?"

She shook her head and took a deep breath before pursing her lips. "I just feel that compared to your decisiveness, I'm just very inferior. I can only regain a little bit of confidence whenever you stand up to them for my sake."

She then peered at him with her beautiful eyes. "Mu Yuchen, do you think I'm too weak? Though I've been trying to change..."

He laughed and just embraced her in his arms while he ran his fingers through her silky, long hair and chuckled. "Do you think I don't know you enough by now? You're not yourself anymore if you change. You are you and you don't need to change anything. I think you're fine as you are. It'd be unreal if you become too perfect, understand?"

"No," she replied seriously.

"You don't have to understand then. You just have to know that I fell in love with you simply because there's a feeling. I felt that you were the right person and I married you. The end."

He smiled as there was a warm light in his eyes. Xi Xiaye felt like she was wrapped in layers of warm light every time she saw him like this. It was as if she would never feel cold anymore even in the middle of the cold rain and strong breeze.

Was she feeling more and more inseparable from him?

She would feel empty if she woke up in the middle of the night and found him not sleeping beside her.

Someone once said many marriages skipped the bonding of love and went straight into a family bond. She did not know if they would be like that, but she did think about it when they first got married. However, she wanted more now...

"Sometimes, I wish I would've met you earlier, then... I'd be able to live happier, and I wouldn't have had to endure everything by myself."

She sighed. "Of course, Mr. Mu, you are an extraordinary person from head to toe. If you met me earlier, not only would you have had a wonderful childhood, but I'd have made sure all your seasons were memorable."

"That'd make us childhood friends then. I don't want to be your childhood friend."

She rolled her eyes at him.

"Why? I was pretty good looking even back then. Didn't you say you'd like guys who are good-looking, tall, talented in basketball and are top students? I'm that guy! What's wrong with being my childhood friend?" Mr. Mu narrowed his eyes at her in doubt.

"We'd know too much about each other, so the mysterious element would be gone."

"Mysterious? What can you hide about yourself? I can see through you with just a glance. Anyway, Ah Mo and Lingshi went to Los Angeles. Our wedding is getting near. I'll be heading over to the Shen Residence to officially propose for marriage. You don't have to go to work next week. Rest up at home and do whatever you have to. I don't want to see an exhausted bride beside me." Mu Yuchen was looking forward to his upcoming wedding.

"Bride, huh? Now that I think about it, we've been married for several months."

"Do you think time will wait for you? As for Yueying, you don't have to worry about anything and you should just leave it to me. Just focus on being my bride, alright?"

"Mmm, so I'll leave it completely to you then?" She was more than delighted that someone was willing to clean up the mess for her. Most of the things regarding Yueying was handled by Vice President Liu anyway, and she also found out about Chenye Movies and Televisions much later.

Xi Xiaye suddenly remembered what Su Nan told her yesterday evening. "By the way, Yue Lingsi's news on Weibo... Did you..."

As she arrived at Deng Wenwen's room and was about to head in, the door suddenly opened from inside. She quickly stopped and raised her head.

It was Deng Wenwen's assistant!

Why was she here?

Yue Lingsi frowned and glanced at the woman before her suspiciously.

"CEO Yue, you're finally back! I've been calling your phone, but it was switched off!"

The assistant was slightly relieved to see Yue Lingsi. "Come in quickly, Mrs. Yue. Things are bad! CEO Deng, she..."

The assistant had not finished when Yue Lingsi already heard the sound of things being thrown from inside the room followed by Deng Wenwen's cold and odd tone.

"Let her come in!"

The assistant trembled and quickly bowed slightly to Yue Lingsi whose expression was strange. She stared at her with a complicated gaze before she said softly, "Mrs. Yue, best you go in quick. The company..."

When she saw the assistant hesitate, Yue Lingsi realized that the matter did not seem to be a simple one. Then, she picked up her pace and went into the room.

Inside the ward, Deng Wenwen was leaning against the headboard while her hand clutched a tablet as she flipped through it. The light above the headboard shone on her and Yue Lingsi could already fell the coldness from afar, especially after she heard her footsteps. In that instant, Deng Wenwen looked up and Yue Lingsi could see the anger and hostility that flashed in her eyes.

Stunned, Yue Lingsi quickly walked over to her bedside. "Mother? What's wrong? Why don't you look so good?" she asked in concern.

The moment she opened her mouth, Deng Wenwen's pair of old eyes cut through her like cold, sharp blades. She stared coldly at Yue Lingsi and could see the shock in her eyes.

"Mother, what's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?" Yue Lingsi asked uneasily.

Deng Wenwen's gaze became even colder as she handed the tablet to Yue Lingsi. Her sharp voice which was mixed with an icy, biting-cold wind entered her ear. Unable to bear the piercing cold, Yue Lingsi immediately tensed up and took the tablet nervously.

Yue Lingsi looked down at the tablet. The picture on the screen immediately greeted her eyes, that familiar face, that ambiguous entanglement of shadows...

She immediately turned pale and her whole body shivered as her hands trembled without control. Her legs even stiffly took a step back while her eyes instantly turned dull.

This scene was taken all in by Deng Wenwen's sharp eyes.

Without a doubt, from such a reaction, this must all be true!

Her aged eyes instantly turned chilly as ice. Her gaze was sharp as she glared at the pale Yue Lingsi. She ground her teeth till they almost turned to powder, feeling extremely disappointed and angry. Her tone was exceptionally hostile as she said, "Look at you. Does that mean all this must be real then? Am I right? Tell me! Is this all real!? Tell me!"

The fury that Deng Wenwen held back in her chest finally exploded at this point. She picked the cup by her side up and flung it at Yue Lingsi. "I had such high expectations of you, yet you went and did such shameless things, bringing shame to the Xi family. Furthermore, it's with a male star that the company signed on! How great of you! Do you know how to write the words 'no sense of shame'?"

Yue Lingsi trembled in panic at once. She did not evade the cup Deng Wenwen had thrown in time, and with a whoosh, the cup smacked Yue Lingsi accurately. The pain blossomed before Yue Lingsi could even snap back.

"Mother, I..."

Yue Lingsi was disconcerted. She trembled as she read the things on the tablet and her heart immediately felt like a hand had furiously grabbed and squeezed it. The sharp claws made her heart sting!

Xi Mushan had used this to threaten her for the divorce back then. She remembered that they had clearly been burnt to dust, so how did these things surface to be exposed?

Could Xi Mushan have lied to her?

That was impossible. If it were Xi Mushan, he did not have reason to do so since they were divorced now. He had achieved his goals. Based on how he was like, he probably would not have done this.

Still, Yue Lingsi could not ponder further at this point. Deng Wenwen's stern scoldings were just beginning to enter her ears.

"Don't call me Mother! I'm not your mother! How dare you do such things? Where is the Xi family supposed to put our dignity? Tell me what all of this is about!"

"Mother, I... I really didn't..."

"If I guess correctly, back then, you agreed to sign the divorce papers so quickly because of this." Deng Wenwen's cold tone did not have a hint of mercy as she fixed her gaze on Yue Lingsi with hostility.

She remembered back then that she had asked Yue Lingsi why had she signed the papers, but she did not say anything. She just wept. Back then, she thought that Yue Lingsi was just done being wronged, so she let go. Who would have thought that it would be because of this!?

Yue Lingsi panicked as she felt a suffocating pain surge up, and she almost fell limp.

"Hmm, now that things have come to this point, what else do you have to say? I've already gotten the company to call Arthur, but his phone is switched off right now. Who knows where he's hiding?! I can't believe that you'd do such a thing! You've really disappointed me! I've treated you so well all this while! And you... You're trying to destroy Yueying! You're a Mayoress. How can do such shameless things? How embarrassing!"

"Mother, it's not like that. Let me explain!" Yue Lingsi walked up and wanted to calm Deng Wenwen down, yet she smacked her hand that reached out away.

"Get lost! Shameless, lowly thing! I always trusted you, yet you did such disgusting, lowly things. Now, Yueying's going to be destroyed by you! Fool!" Deng Wenwen started to rain down with curses again. Her old face had turned beetroot at this point.

Yue Lingsi shuddered slightly, enduring the pain that suddenly arose in her chest as her eyes began to redden. Immediately, they welled up with tears and she held the hand that Deng Wenwen had struck as she stared in horror at Deng Wenwen. "Mother, what are you saying? How could you curse me like that?"

"Am I wrong? Did you forget how you promised and guaranteed me back then?" Deng Wenwen spoke sternly.

"Mother! You don't even know how Mushan and I are like! I've married him for over 20 years now. Apart from that night, he's never so much as touch me. I'm a woman too. Why do I have to be a grass widow all my life? I've put my whole heart in for the Xi family, quietly loved him for so many years, and what did I get? He hates me! His hatred for me has been increasing. He said I was disgusting and malicious! In the end, he just used divorce papers to kick me aside. All the things I've done all these years, what were they all for?"

As Yue Lingsi lashed out, the anger and unhappiness in her heart could not help but be released too. Her eyes were hot, and in the blink of an eye, they turned misty with tears.
