《The Girl Who Stutters and The Boy Who Mutters》Chapter Twenty Seven

There's a loud banging on the door and at first I ignore it but by the third loud banging I decide I should probably answer it. I attempt to role over so that I can answer the door but to my horror I'm being held down by something. I crack an eye open and when my eye adjusts the first thing I notice is a very well shaped chest. What kind of amazing dream is this?
But when I finally realize that it's not a dream I immediately scream and push back. I hear a loud groan come from whoever I've just shoved off the side of the bed and I look down to see Scott rubbing his forehead. I look at him a second longer before deciding to leave him there so that I can answer the door.
"Who the hell is here this early in the morning?" I hear Scott mutter before I walk over and open the door.
"Oakland?" I squint at the boy standing in front of me. He looks pretty dressed up to be up this early in the morning. He's wearing a white polo and khaki shorts with his hair gelled back and a pair of vans.
"Hey Abby," he says. He doesn't seem very affected by the fact that I'm still half asleep. "I was wondering if you'd want to hang out after class and grab a coffee with me."
"S-sure," I say trying to get him to leave so that I can get ready. I guess I might as well get dressed since somebody decided it would be a good idea to wake me. With everything that's been going on I haven't exactly thought about the fact that this is my first time going back to my classes in God knows how long.
Suddenly I feel a pair of arms slither around my waist and I'm being pulled back into a body. I look over to see Scott resting his chin on my shoulder looking rather smug.
"Can we help you?" Scott asks as he smirks at Oakland.
"I've already got what I want," Oakland shrugs before winking at me. I shift on my feet uncomfortably. "I'll see you after class Abby."
Scott's expression turns stony and soon enough I'm being released from his arms and he's slamming the door in Oakland's face. Scott looks over at me with a look of confusion on his face before muttering something about needing to use the bathroom. As he's rushing towards our bathroom I can't help but think about out conversation from last night.

"Will you be my girlfriend?"
I look up at Scott and right now I'm practically having an asthma attack. I wasn't expecting any of this. If someone had told me a year ago that I was going to be on a date and practically falling for my freshman enemy I would've laughed at them. But since it's actually happening...
"Abby? Are you Okay?"
I look up to see Scott staring at me, I could practically get lost in this asshole's eyes. Bastard.
"Why are you breathing so heavily?"
When did I become such a love sick puppy?
Suddenly Scott is kneeling on the ground in front of me and my first thought is 'holy fuck he's proposing.' But then I remember that I haven't answered his question about me being his girlfriend yet so he probably isn't proposing. This is also when I realize I feel like there's no air in my lungs.
"Abby look at me."
I look up into Scott's eyes and begin to focus on my breathing which has noticeably sped up.
"I-I'm a-alright," I say as my breathing finally begins to slow down. I'm looking anywhere but at Scott until I feel a finger slip under my chin and I'm forced to look up into his eyes again.
"It's alright I have this effect on women," he says as he smirks at the look of horror on my face. "And since it's clear you're so surprised by my gracious offer that you're incapable of answering, I'll give you time to compose yourself before answering me. No rush."
How the hell did he turn me nearly having an asthma attack into an ego boost for him?
"Anyways it's getting late. Time to get home."
I can't help but think about this all the way through my first class but I'm finally able to focus on my work about halfway through my second period considering the amount of work I have to finish. By the time I'm walking to my third class which is world religions, I'm pretty much done for the day.
"How you holding up champ?" I look behind me to see Victor jogging up next to me.
"M-my leg hurts," I complain to him. "T-these books are h-heavy. W-world religions is a very b-boring class. I'm t-tired. I w-wanna go home-"

"Sounds like we're having the same luck today," he says before taking my books from me. God bless this young man's soul. Victor walks with me all the way to my world religions class even though him next class is all the way across campus. When I get into the classroom about half the class is here already and since I don't know any of them I just walk straight to a seat in the front. I rest my head on the desk and decide to rest until class actually starts.
"You're alive!" I jump and nearly fall out of my seat when I look up to see the teacher, Mr. O'neil or Stan as he likes to be called, standing two inches away from me.
"Um-"
"You haven't been to class in a while," he says looking down at me curiously and tilting his head. "Anything you want to talk about."
"Um n-no-"
"Well," he says narrowing his eyes at me in an intimidating manner. "I have a nephew with several bruises who would beg to differ."
What the hell?
"Have a nice day Abby."
The look on his face right now is making me feel...uneasy. And now he's kind of just standing here staring at me and I'm already freaking because if this guy decides to attack me, then I'm just going to get attacked because no one in this class really likes me and I'm too tired to fight back. Maybe if I just stand up now I can limp over to the door and get a five second head start.
Just as I'm staring at the door intently and thinking about making my great escape the door opens and none other than Scott freaking Rogers walks in. How could I have forgotten he was in this class? But he doesn't walk in alone, several girl's are trailing behind him and the one next to him is grasping his bicep like it's some kind of trophy.
Scott suddenly stops walking to look around and he scans the room. When his eyes land on me his smirk immediately grows wider. That is until his gaze shifts up to Stan who is still, for whatever reason, standing next to my desk. Scott's expression noticeably changes, almost as if he's threatened. It's the same look he had this morning after Oakland winked at me. Am I missing something?
"I j-just don't know B-becca," I say as I lie on the bed in Becca's dorm. I'm getting advice from her about my Scott problems obviously, even though those probably aren't the problem I should be focusing on right now.
"Abigail," she says looking over at me from her book. She's probably wishing that I had went to Anna about this instead of her. But I haven't seen Anna today so I figured she was the next best thing. "Scott asked you to be his girlfriend. Now, you and I both know that that is the most effort he has ever exhibited for anything relationship wise over like the last two years."
"O-okay?"
"Do I have to spell it out for you?" She looks at me like I'm the biggest idiot in the world and I just stare at her blankly and she rolls her eyes at me. "Abby if you like him my input should not have an affect on your answer."
I nod and stare up at the ceiling. Would it really be that bad if I said yes to Scott? Actually now that I think about it, I shouldn't just keep pushing this off and expect for him to wait for me. This is unfair to him.
"C-can you p-pass me my phone?" I ask Becca and she throws me my phone without looking up from her book. When I find Scott's name in my text messages I stare at his name for a while as I consider what I should send to him. But I also know that if I consider this too long I'm going to end up talking myself out of doing this.
Why is my life so complicated?
Finally, I decide to go with something plain and straightforward. Something that will explain exactly how I feel about his offer. So I send him this:
