《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter thirteen

Colby had no idea what to think of the question that came out of Jake's mouth.
"Would you marry me?" Jake asks while getting on his knees.
•••
Colby is snapped out of his shock by Jake standing up from his knees. He looks down at his mate and there are unshed tears in his eyes.
"Sorry, I thought it was a good time. I shouldn't have asked. I'm sor-"
Jake is cut off by Colby's lips on his. Jake is so shocked that it takes him a second to respond. After a few seconds, Colby pulls away.
"You didn't seem like you were stopping anytime soon, so I had to do it myself." Colby says with a smile.
Jake is looking at his Alpha with confusion on his face. Colby seeing this, says "I was just shocked you asked, babe."
"I would love to marry you, but are you sure you want this?" Colby asks with hesitation.
Without saying anything, Jake jumps into Colby's arms with a smile.
"Of course I want this." He says with a giggle.
"Sorry to interrupt, but can I be the best man?" Sam says from the doorway with a smirk.
"That's a stupid question, Sam. Of course you are." Colby say with a smile.
"Ha! Told you, Kat!" Sam smiles triumphantly at Kat as she walks in.
"Don't get so excited, Babe." Kat smirks.
"You actually thought someone else was going to be my best man?" Colby laughs.
"We had a bet that you would choose either your Brother, or Sam." Kat smiles back.
The other roommates file into the entrance hall, and smile at their friends conversation.
"Y'all bet on their love life?" Corey asks while chuckling.
"Yeah, we also have a bet about Dev and you, but we won't discuss that." Sam says with a small smirk directed at Corey.
Everyone decides to leave Jake and Colby alone. After everyone leaves, Jake reaches for Colby's hand and puts the black and silver band on his ring finger.
Colby smiles before saying, "Hold on." And running up the stairs.
Jake stands in the entrance hall for only a short period of time before his fiancé comes back with something in his hand.
"I was going to give you this on Christmas, but I guess things change." Colby chuckles a bit while pulling the silver and green ring out of its box. Jake gasps a bit at seeing the beautiful ring that fits him perfectly.

"Thank you, Colbs." Jake says with a few tears in his eyes.
"Anything for you, little mate." Colby replies while pulling Jake in for a kiss.
•••
"If you guys don't get up right now I will leave without even a TEXT goodbye." Elton screams up the stairs, while holding little Sarah in his arms.
Colby laughs at his good friend, and walks over to where Elton is holding Sarah.
"I appreciate everything you have done for us, for me." Colby says while patting his friend on the back.
"Of course, man. All of you are like family, I will do anything for family." Elton says, his eyes shifting to Sarah.
"That includes you, Princess." Elton adds.
Sarah giggles before she says, "Don't go, Elty." She pouts while holding onto his neck.
"I have to, babygirl. Other people need to be saved." Elton smiles, while kissing her head.
Colby watches as the hunter and the wolf pup say their goodbye's. After listening to their conversation, Colby notices that Sarah has started to use their old nickname for Elton. Colby looks at the other roommates as they come down, and nod towards the two new friends.
Everyone is in awe of how close Sarah has gotten with Elton in only two days.
"It took Elton two weeks to get used to us being around, so how did THAT happen." Corey whispers, pointing towards the scene in front of them.
"I have no idea." The alpha laughs a bit.
Colby watches as Elton walks over to Kat, and puts a pouting Sarah in her arms.
"I have to go, little pup. I'll be back to see you soon." Elton reassures the little girl.
"Promise?" Sarah sticks her pinky out.
Elton chuckles before he stinks his bigger pinky out to wrap around her little one, "I promise." Elton adds to the promise by kissing their connected pinky fingers.
"You know what? Here."
Elton takes off the bullet necklace he has on, and places it around the little girls neck.
"I love this necklace. Will you hold onto it for me?" Elton asks Sarah.
Sarah nods her head, and gives her friend a kiss before he picks his stuff up.
The pack watch as their youngest members plays with the bullet on the necklace with tears in her eyes. She waved goodbye to her new friend, and cuddles closer to her mom.
•••
It's been three weeks since the proposal, and Elton leaving. While the Alpha is happy about his new fiancé, he is worried about his princess.

Ever since Elton left, the pack has noticed that the pup's smile doesn't reach her eyes, or that she doesn't eat as much as she use to. Colby is ready to call a pack meeting just because he is so worried for little Sarah. After thinking for awhile, Colby decides that that's the best thing for him to do, have a pack meeting.
Colby picks up his phone and goes to the house group chat, "Everyone downstairs. 10 mins."
•••
When the pack gets downstairs, they see their Alpha sitting on the couch already; the look that he has is the look of sadness and stress.
Colby looks up to his pack and notices that Sarah isn't with them.
"Where's Sarah?" Colby asks, exhaustion clear in his voice.
"She's taking a nap." Sam replies.
"Why are we here, Colbs." Jake says, getting to the point.
Without saying anything back, Colby reaches for his mate. Jake, noticing Colby's stress, walks across the room and sits on Colby's lap.
"I called you all here, because I'm worried about Sarah." Colby looks at his pack, his friends, and sees the same worried expression on their face.
"So, we all agree." He adds.
"I can see a big difference in her." Kat says, taking Sam's hand.
"I think we all can. The real question is, why?" Jake asks.
"Well, it's obviously Elton leaving, but I don't get why that would upset her so bad." Devyn adds.
"Maybe you should ask me yourself." The little voice that could only be Sarah, says.
The whole pack, even their big Alpha, turns to look at the little girl standing on the last stair. Sarah's hair is all messy, and one of her pants leg is rolled up mid leg. Colby would have laughed if he wasn't so tired.
"Baby, what are you doing up?" Sam asks his daughter.
"I wasn't sleepy anymore, Daddy." Sarah's sweet voice answers back.
"I'll tell you everything, if you promise me ice cream." The little girl smirks.
At the sound of the word "promise", Colby's eyes go toward the girls neck to see the same bullet necklace hanging low on her shirt. He smiles at the sight, remembering his old friend.
Colby comes back to reality just in time to hear his best friend say, "Of course, baby."
Everyone watches as their beloved pup giggles and runs over to her daddy, and sits on his lap.
"Have I ever told you the story of my parents death?" The pup starts.
Everyone in the room shakes their head no, and wait for the little girl to continue.
"You see, I'm not full werewolf. My dad was werewolf, but my mom. . . She was a hunter."
Before anyone could say anything back to that, Sarah continues.
"My mother didn't want my father and me hurt, so she made us move deep into the woods where father could train me to be like him, an Alpha. One day, my father was trying to get my Alpha blood to show itself, but it wouldn't. Instead of getting the perfect little Alpha he wanted, he got a weak little Omega; The weakest wolf rank. Blinded by anger, father tried to kill me." Sarah pauses her story to lift up her shirt to show the long scar across her chest.
"Before my father could do any bad damage, my mother killed him. Shot him. After that, mother and me went back to the city. We made a life out there for us. It was perfect, until mother had to leave for 'business', and never came back. I went out looking for her, but only found a dead body that was so badly cut up, that it didn't even look like her. I knew it was her though, I could see the bracelet I made her."
Sarah pauses again, this time to wipe a few tears away.
"That was the night I made my way to you guys. As you can see, I don't want to find Elton like that, or anyone like that. I just want him, and everyone else, to be safe."
No one says anything for a good while, they just watch as the little girl cries into her dad's chest. The sobs sound like they have been held back for so long. Colby, and everyone else, is shocked that this four year old girl has gone through so much in such a small amount of time. It amazes them all.
"I can assure you, princess, that that won't happen to Elton, or any of us." Colby says while making his way over to his niece.
"I'm glad you told us." Colby says, while rubbing her back.

[Comics*] Season Of Destruction
Born as mortal sons to Napoleon Bonaparte's personal surgeon and forever altered by the sinister mentor who made them orphans, bloodsucking vampire brothers Lucien, Thibault and Marcel are less Lugosi, more dashing serial killers, sour and snobbish, fond of fine things. Not unlike a competitive clan of creepy Kennedy cousins. These nearly immortal all-stars of mayhem and murder lack talons, retractable fangs and vulnerability to garlic or sunshine. They cast shadows. They make reflections in mirrors, and when buried, our boys enter a state of metabolic suspension, "sleeping" until it's safe to rise and return to their work, harvesting heads. After more than 150 years in hibernation, the vampires are revived by the spilled blood of methamphetamine users killed in a gangland ambush. The trio are instantly and utterly addicted - not to the toxic drug itself, but to the blood of those who intravenously use meth. Soon the frankendrug's grip draws their destinies into a narrow spiral of addiction, and their plans to return to modern France are sidetracked, then forgotten as they become lost in the American empire-turned-nightmare of 2028. Season of Destruction is a story that runs on bodies. It's a swim meet in a shark tank, and very few make it out alive. It's a story about the beginning of the end of the world.
