《Soulmates/ Jolby》Chapter nineteen

Corey watches the girls as they play with little Sarah, a small smile on his lips. The man looks over to his friend next to him to find him looking out the window.
"What's wrong, Aaron?" Corey asks, gently putting his hand on Aaron's shoulder.
Aaron jumps when he feel the large hand of Corey on him. Realizing that Corey is talking to him; Aaron weakly smiles at him and says a quiet, "I'm fine." The man knew something was wrong with him by the way that his head felt like it was going to explode, or how his stomach felt like he was on a scary rollercoaster.
Corey was going to leave Aaron alone, but caught sight of his flushed face, and the sweat on his forehead.
"Are you sure you're okay?" Corey asks, placing a hand on his friends forehead, but quickly pulls it back. "You're burning up, Aaron!" Corey yells.
Noticing all the commotion, the girls come sit down next to the men. Devyn takes note of how sick Aaron looks, and instantly goes to get him some water and blankets. Corey and Kat get on either side of Aaron, and lead him over to a more comfortable couch.
Devyn comes in hold blankets in one arm, and a glass of water in the other. Just as she is starting to lay out the blankets, Aaron starts to hyperventilate.
"Shit! What's happening?" Corey yells, sitting Aaron up.
"Colby! Uncle Colby!!!" Sarah starts to scream, knowing her uncle will have a good explanation for this scary scene.
•••
Colby puts his arm around Jake's shoulder, and smiles at his boys. They finally feel as if they're getting somewhere with the apocalypse; all they need now is Kat.
Before the men can say anything about where they could find Kat, Sarah's screams are heard from the living room.
"Colby! Uncle Colby!!!"
The alpha wastes no time before he starts to run full force towards his niece. Bright red eyes shine as they scan every hallway the Alpha goes down.

Sarah is about to scream again, but all of her boys come running through the hallway they were down. Colby frantically looks around the room he is in, but finds no intruder; only a heavy breathing Aaron.
"What happened?" Colby demands as he walks toward his friend.
"He wasn't looking too good, so Kat and I brought him over her. After we payed him down, he started to hyperventilate; that's when Sarah called for you." Corey explains from beside Colby.
Colby puts his hand on Aaron's forehead to find him still burning up. Before Colby can order Reggie to start a healing potion, Aaron sits straight up and lunges forward toward Corey. Everyone in the room backs up, and watch as Aaron growls at the others like a crazed animal.
Sam puts the pieces together before anyone else. He pulls everyone into the next room, and quickly closes and locks the door behind them. Aaron starts to bang on the door, and starts to yell.
"It's the spell!" Sam says, heavily breathing.
The information instantly makes sense to the boys who knew, but to everyone else it doesn't. Elton starts to explain everything while Aaron still bangs on the door.
•••
"That. . ." Elton says, pointing toward the door. "Is what happens if we don't find a way to say the spell so everyone doesn't get infected."
"Well, why do I have to do it?" Kat asks, fear in her eyes.
"You have pure of heart, Kitty Kat." Reggie says from beside Corey.
Colby watches as Sam wraps his arms around a frightened Kat. The Alpha feels bad for her, but he knows they can't hide in this room forever. Knowing that he has to take action now, Colby walks over to Reggie and tell him to take Kat to the other side of the room, and teach her the spell.
•••
"You got this." Devyn whispers in my ear while holding onto my hand.
Even though the spell isn't hard for a driven person like herself, Kat still feels nervous about going out of the safe room.

"What if I hurt him?" Kat whimpers, holding onto both Devyn and Colby for support.
"You won't. Nothing about that spell can hurt anyone. You've got this." Colby reassuringly tells Kat.
Finding her courage, Kat twists the door-handle, and opens the door all the way. As soon as she opens the door, Kat notices that Aaron isn't in the living room anymore, or so she thought.
Kat turns in the direction of the frantic pounding of feet on the hard wood floors, and sees 'Aaron' running toward her.
Seeing her friend running toward her with a crazed look in his eyes makes Kat freeze in her spot. She would have been killed by Aaron if Reggie's voice didn't snap her out of her daze.
"Now, Kitty Kat, now!"
Hearing the voice of her teacher, Kat raises her hand toward Aaron and yells the spell; small sparks of violet comes out of her hand. Kat watches as Aaron bends over and starts to cough up green sparks. The spell is leaving his body.
Aaron looks as if he's about to fall face first onto the floor, but before he can; Kat is there holding him up. The small, sweet, bubbly girl looks up to her friend and sees a small smile on his face.
"Thanks." He whispers, his voice coming out hoarse from the screaming.
"Is it safe to come out!?" Sarah yells, ruining the friends moment.
Everyone files back into the room and pat Aaron on the shoulder. The tall man smiles at his friends, but it disappears when he spots his Alpha in front of him. Colby stares at his friend as he shakes with fear.
"Alpha, I didn't mean anything by what I did! I swear!" Aaron begs.
"I know, my friend." Colby replies, pulling Aaron in for a hug.
"I'd hate to ruin the moment, but where's Jillian?" Reggie asks from beside Jake.
The pack share a worried look before running up the stairs to Jillian's room.
Colby is in front of the large group, and when he gets to the wooden door he doesn't bother knocking. When he enters the girl's room, he finds her curled up in the corner of the room; shaking.
"Jill!" Jake and Reggie yell; running toward her.
When the two men get to their sister she isn't talking. All the girl does is shake. The two of them try to get the girl to talk, but nothing happens.
"Let me try." Colby says.
The man makes his way toward Jillian; crouching down to her level. Colby puts his hand on Jillian's shoulder and whispers her name. Almost instantly, Jillian flinches and looks at Colby with fear in her eyes.
"You're okay, Sweetie." Colby whispers, holding Jill to him.
"I-I could here him at my d-door. . . I thought you guys were d-dead." Jillian cries into Colby's shoulder.
Colby looks up at Reggie and Jake to see them looking as if they're in pain from watching their sister cry. The Alpha quickly hands the girl off to her older brothers, knowing that they are who she needs right now.
•••
"We need to figure out how to cure everyone; we can't have something like this happen again." Elton says to everyone in front of him.
The whole pack is curled up together in the living room trying to figure out how to solve their predicament. While the others are talking about ideas of ways to get the cure spell out to everyone in the world, Jake has already come up with an idea.
"Guys! We're Youtubers! Why don't we just do a video?" Jake suggests.
Everyone looks at the man next to their Alpha and smile at him. Everyone thank him for the idea, and they start to talk about when they should do it.
"The sooner the better." Devyn says, still holding onto a shaking Corey; he's still a little shaken up from what happened.
Colby smirks at his pack and says, "it's settled then. We start tomorrow."

That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit.
