《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(15. I love you)

I was getting out of the hospital today, Will had prescribed me some painkillers and said I was gonna feel really sore for a while but ultimately I'd be ok if I didn't do any strenuous activities.
"Hey, Doc," I called Will before he left the room.
"I told you to call me Will." He turned and smile.
"Fine, Will thank you for your help and I also never thanked you for saving me that day in the hospital, and for saving Kelly." I had been keeping that in for a while.
"I'm a doctor that's what I do." He tried to shrug it off as nothing. Just like his brother.
"Stop it, seriously thank you," I said in a little more serious tone.
"Of course." He walked over and I got up to give him a hug.
"Hands of my girl!" We then heard Jay as we pulled out of the hug.
"Yeah yeah whatever little bro." Will patted Jay on the back causing him to groan a little in pain.
Will giggled as he walked out of the room. "I was thanking him for saving my life," I told Jay as he walked over to me. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and he put his arms around my waist.
"Hmm, yeah I guess that was worth a hug." He smiled. He then leaned down giving me a kiss.
"Should we get out of here? " I said grabbing my bag from my bed.
"Let's go, I brought my car out front." He told me grabbing my hand and walking with me to the exit.
Hank had given Jay and I a couple of days off work while we healed. We decided to drive to the office to see everyone before going home. We walked up to the front desk.
"Hey Mah." I got Trudy's attention at the counter.
"Hi, honey, what are you two doing here? " She walked around the counter and gave me a soft hug trying not to hurt me.

"We thought we'd come to say hi to the team, let them know we're both out of the hospital," I told her.
"Alright, be careful, and get home right after to get some rest, and you Halstead don't get too frisky," Trudy instructed us using her serious voice.
"Yes, Mah!" was all I said as Jay and I walked up the stairs. There were only a few people who knew about Jay and I but really it was no secret that we were something.
"Hey everyone!" Jay spoke as he got up the stairs.
"Jay!" I heard people say happily as I followed after him as fast as I could.
"Hold on, we got one more." He said as my head started to become visible to everyone else.
"Give me a sec guys," I said groaning a little as I lifted each leg up to get upstairs.
Adam and Mouse met me at the last steps and helped me up carrying most of my body weight. "Thanks." I laughed.
"How are you feeling?" Hank asked us as he walked out of his office.
"Much better thanks to you guys," I told them shooting everyone a look of appreciation but focusing a little bit more on Erin who was back at her desk.
Jay began chatting with the guys and I made my way over to Erin. "Hi." She greeted me with a hug.
"Hey, can we chat?" I asked her gesturing to the coffee room.
We walked over and she shut the door behind her. "What's up?" She asked me.
"I wanted to apologize for what I said the night we came back from New York, I shouldn't have said what I said and I'm glad you're back. I also wanted to thank you for coming to get Jay and I. I know we haven't always gotten along but I really appreciate it and I'm really glad you're back." I shot her a sincere smile.
She smiled back. "No y/n I'm sorry, that night I was really just angry with myself because you were handling things so much better than I was, it sounds stupid but I was jealous of how you're able to grief without worrying about what others think. And listen in the hospital Jay told me about you guys and I just want to say I'm really happy for you, I hope you guys work out, I really do." She also had a sincere smile.

"Thanks, Erin." I walked over giving her a more heartfelt hug."I think Nadia would be happy we're finally getting along." I said causing both Erin's and my eyes to water a little.
We walked out of the coffee room and I saw Jay's attention was on me. I gave him a very slight nod indicating that Erin and I were ok and he smiled.
After chatting with the team for another while Jay and I left and drove to my apartment.
We got in and Jay had a bag packed with a few of his things in his car, he brought it up with him. "Should we order something?" I asked him feeling hungry.
"Sure, what d'you want?" He asked me pulling out his phone.
"How about some Chinese?" I suggested.
"Sounds good." He smiled proceeding to order from his phone.
Once the food arrived Jay and I sat on the couch eating and watching tv. My back was leaning on the couch and my legs were over his, his arms resting on them.
Instead of watching tv, I found myself simply staring at Jay every once in a while, taking in his features. The way his eyebrows were always slightly furrowed, his beautiful blue eyes, his jaw clenching every time he chewed, his stubble that had gotten slightly out of control from being in the hospital.
"What?" Jay smiled and turned to face me when he realized I was staring.
"I'm just happy that's all." I had a bright smile on my face.
"Why?" He giggled.
"Just that something good was able to come out of all this," I said pointing at the bruises on my face.
He extended his arms out and began stroking my face gently, more specifically where the bruises were. He just stared at me for a couple of seconds. "I love you," he spoke really softly and although he was smiling I could tell he was nervous.
I simply stared at him for a few seconds before my smile grew wider. "I love you too," I said pulling myself closer to him. He leaned sideways towards me and we kissed.
"D'you wanna head to the bedroom?" Jay giggled.
"No strenuous activities, your brother's orders," I told Jay laughing once he had started kissing my neck all over.
"Doesn't mean we can't do other things." He laughed gently pushing my legs off his and hovering his body on top of mine.
"We need to be careful, c,mon." I finally stopped him pushing him off me gently and guiding him so he would sit beside me.
"Fine." He huffed defeated.
I leaned my head on his shoulder as we continued watching tv. 'Derek Keyes has been found and killed after torturing two detectives who he kidnapped after they attempting to arrest him in an undercover operation. We have been informed both detectives are alive and recovering.' The woman on the tv began reporting.
"Mhm." I grabbed the remote and changed the channel.
"Sure you're ok?" Jay asked me looking down at me.
"No." I looked up at him. "But I will be." I smiled. "Are you?"
He thought about it for a second "No." he admitted. "But we will be."
I pushed myself up to give him a kiss on the cheek and then on the lips. I was happy, I felt at peace and I was finally glad Jay and I were here, and safe.
