《Jay Halstead x Reader Story/Imagine》(19. She's a lucky girl)

I was in uniform waiting for Jay downstairs since we were going out on the lookout for a specific license plate that could be carrying drugs when I saw Mouch was walking down the front steps in a sneaky manner after talking to Kim.
"Hey, Mouch" I caught his attention and he was surprised to see me.
"Hey y/n, what a coincidence, what are you doing here?" He asked me nervously laughing.
"Mouch I work here, what's going on?" I laughed with him.
"Nothing just stopped by to hmm grab a flyer that's all." He said grabbing a flyer that was hanging by the door and starting to walk away. "I'm late for work though so I've gotta run." He ran out.
"Ok..."I spoke to myself laughing at Mouch's poor attempt at acting casual.
Jay showed up beside me then with the keys to a squad car. We started driving around when we heard Atwater through the radio letting us know they had spotted the license plate around the corner from where we were at.
I turned on the sirens and drove us there. We pulled the car over and got out of the squad car. We slowly began to approach, I approached towards the driver's seat and Jay on the opposite side.
"Sir please place your hands on the steering wheel where I can see them." I hollered at the man and he did as told.
I began approaching still slowly, my hand on my gun ready in case anything happened. Just as I suspected as I approached the car window the man quickly pulled out a gun pointing it at me. I heard a gunshot that made me jump but realized quickly Jay had shot and killed the man.
"Thanks." I looked at Jay as he lowered his gun.
"You alright?" He asked me.
"Yep, let's see what he has back here," I told him wiping some blood spatters off my face and walking to the back of the pickup truck.
We uncovered the tarp thinking we were gonna find drugs but instead found a body missing a hand. After further research at the precinct, Jay and I were then sent to Gnomic to see what they could tell us about Roger Harrington. The lawyer at the company though refused to give us information.

We questioned Harrington's wife on the whereabouts of her husband and generally any information that she could provide us and although she denied any involvement in the case, everyone got a different feeling.
We decided to bug Nora's house with the help of Mouse to see if we could get any information when she thought she wasn't being watched. We all suited up and headed to her house. Jay and I stayed in the van as lookouts while everyone else went inside to bug the house.
After we had successfully done so with a close call Jay and I stayed back in the van to watch and listen to the conversations Nora was having. It seemed as though she knew her house was bugged because she turned on speakers loudly preventing us from hearing anything. We did however get a picture of a guy Nora was meeting with and we were able to send that to the team to I.D the guy. Aaron Franceur.
With this, we had gathered just enough to bring Aron and Nora to the precinct to question them further. They had been in the interrogation room for only a short period of time when Dana, the lawyer walked in with Adam who was gonna show her to the interrogation room when she walked past my desk, glaring at me.
"It's this way," Adam told her pointing down the hall.
"Give me a sec." She said stopping at Jay's desk.
She grabbed a pen from my desk and a post-it from Jay's and wrote something down. Everyone was watching. She gave him a wink before giving me a fake smile and walking away with Adam.
"Did she just write her number on there?" I laughed asking Jay.
He lifted up the post it to show me smirking. "Mhm." He confirmed.
"Mmm." I shrugged.
"Ooooo, what are you gonna do about it y/n?" Kev asked.
"Me? Nothing, maybe you should ask Jay though." I turned and smirked at him.
"Hmmm, yeah I think I'll just save it for later." Jay pretended to put the post-it in his pocket making me roll my eyes at him.

"Very funny," I told him grabbing my pen back from his desk.
"Look." He said ripping the post it up before chucking it in the trash.
A while later Dana was walking back out of the interrogation room and once more approaching Jay who was chatting to Mouse by the stairs.
"So how about dinner later detective?" She smirked at him.
I sat back and watched annoyed. "Uhm, I don't think so." Jay smiled at her.
"Oh, c, mon we can put work aside." She tried again stepping closer to him.
He took a step back. "No, I'm going out with my girlfriend actually so..."
"Oh, my apologies. She's a lucky girl." She stepped back.
"I am yeah," I said loudly and she turned to face me. I gave her the same fake smile she gave me.
"Oh." That was all she said losing her smile before making her way out.
Jay started laughing. "That was fun." I laughed with him.
Not long after our failed attempt at bugging her house we were able to find another place Nora frequented, a storage unit. And once we went to investigate we found two men moving the encrypted chips with Aaron Franceur as their driver. After bringing Franceur into the office he started talking, telling us all about Nora's and his plan.
—————————
After I was finished with my paperwork I decided to lighten the mood a little. I grabbed a pen from my desk and walked over to Jay's.
'Be home in 15 minutes... I'll be in the bath.'
I wrote on the piece of paper winking at Jay making him laugh. I walked away and he grabbed the piece of paper and I saw his smile drop slightly before he adjusted himself on his chair. He quickly got back to finishing his paperwork.
I was at home and I poured myself a glass of wine, I left another empty glass on the counter for when Jay got home. I started pouring the bath and getting undressed. I lit some candles while the tub finished filling up.
I slipped into the bathtub and I heard the front door open. "Babe!" I heard Jay holler.
"In here," I called him and I heard his footsteps getting closer.
He walked into the bathroom and his eyes lit up at the sight. He started undressing as soon as he saw me wasting no time in getting in the bath with me.
Once he did he pulled me over so I had my back lying on his chest and his arms going over my shoulders.
"Why didn't you get jealous today when that lawyer gave me her number?" Jay asked me.
"Did you want me to be jealous?" I asked him back.
"Well I think a little jealousy is ok, kinda makes me feel like I'm fully yours you know" he admitted
"Well I was a little jealous, Dana is a gorgeous lady, but it wasn't about that, I also like to think that I trust you enough to know that you won't act on things like this," I told him.
"I'm glad you do because I wouldn't." I could tell he was smiling as he rested his head on top of mine.
"I wanted to ask you something." I turned slightly so I could see him.
"What's that?"
"I want you to move in with me, I mean you're practically living here already and paying rent elsewhere for no reason, I think we're in a good place in our relationship where I think we're ready to take that next step. So do you want to move in with me?" I expressed myself.
I could see he was taking a second to take in what I was saying. "Yes, I would love to move in with you." He smiled leaning down to kiss me.

War Beast
The future is savage. Jenny Summer is a news reporter who hates her job. One day, an accident sends her through a time portal, straight into the distant future. A future of warring Beastmen tribes, deadly monsters, and magic from beyond the imagination. When the savage world is full of many threats, how will the average modern-day girl survive? Author's Note: This is a rewrite of my fiction with the original title. Instead of changing my chapters in my other draft, I made a copy with a different beginning and a few new chapters. The beginning will move straight to the fantasy world like most Isekai light novels. As usual, each chapter will go between 500 and 2,000 words. I deleted the other draft since this draft will be my focus. Enjoy and let me know what you think of this new draft. There may also be grammar and spelling errors too. This series is still in development.
