Today's case didn't prove too complicated. Hank had assigned Jay and me to get a couple of witness statements at Chicago Med. Since we weren't in a rush we decided to grab some coffee from the cart outside the hospital.

It was cold outside but Jay and I sat by a bench not wanting to take up space inside. Jay opened his arm for me and I snuggled into his side as we sipped on our coffee. "How are your bruises?" He asked me.

"Better, I think the cold has helped them go down." I turned to show him the almost invisible bruise on the side of my cheek from the ordeal in the cabin a couple of days ago.

"Antonio's been trying to convince me to go to the polar plunge-" Jay started.

Our conversation was interrupted when we heard an ambulance speeding into the hospital, we turned to see it was Ambulance 61. "It's Brett and Foster,"

"Looks serious," Jay commented.

"Well, I hope everything goes well." we watched as the ambulance disappeared behind the building.

Jay and I continued chatting for a couple more minutes before we finally decided it was time to head back. We were walking to the car when we saw Brett and Emily appear from inside the hospital.

"Hey, you guys following a case?" Brett greeted us.

"Hi, yeah just taking a few witness statements, nothing too serious." Jay shrugged.

"We saw you guys coming in hot everything alright?" I asked.

"Hopefully, this kid crashed onto the back of 51s truck, almost choked on his own vomit, we did the best we could, it's out of our hands now," Emily answered.

Her phone then started ringing. I saw Brett's attention drawn to the phone call as well, Foster checked the number and sighed frustrated as she hung up. "Is everything alright?" Jay asked.

"Yeah just this random number that keeps calling me, excuse me." She walked inside the hospital.

I turned to Brett. "She doesn't want to make it a big deal but there's this doctor, Jim Shaw, look's like he didn't take her rejection well and now he's trying to make her life impossible. I'm pretty sure he's the one who's been calling her nonstop." I could tell she was really upset about it.

"Do you want us to look into it?" Jay beat me to ask.

"No, I mean not yet at least. We'll see how it plays out, but thank you guys, I better get back inside. It was nice to see you." she smiled as she started walking towards the hospital.

"Alright, but please Brett give me a call if things get worse." I insisted.

"Of course, Bye." She walked off.

Jay and I shared an unconvinced glance, Jay wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walked back to the car.

"I'm definitely looking into this Shaw guy," Jay whispered to me.

"I really love your stubbornness sometimes." I laughed.

"Oh, you're saying you weren't going to look into him?"

"No of course I was but I just wasn't going to tell you," I smirked.

He bumped me with his hip causing me to stumble slightly and causing him to burst into laughter. "Not funny." I tried to bump him back but he braced himself causing me to simply knock the air out of myself and make him laugh even more.

On the drive back to the precinct I used my phone to access the district's database and look into this Dr.Shaw.

"Son of a b*" I started reading.

"What?" Jay asked keeping his eyes on the road.

"This guy has had 3 complaints from women claiming they've been harassed by this man, two of which ended up losing their jobs because Shaw sued them for defamation."

"Who was the officer working the case?" Jay asked.

"They were all different, happened within months of each other though." I huffed annoyed at what I was seeing.

"Well, we let Brett know to call us if she needed anything, we'll keep an eye out for Foster." Jay placed his hand on my leg squeezing it gently.

"Yeah, but if he lays even a finger on her I'm arresting him." I put the phone down intertwining my fingers with Jay's hand.

"We're near Felix Burgers d'you wanna grab some lunch?" Jay smiled.

"Mhmm, yes please." My stomach grumbled just thinking about food, Jay's smile gre wider seeing how my eyes lit up at the mention of Burgers.

"50-21 George, 50-21 Trent come in." We heard through the radio.

"Yes, this is 50-21 George and Trent." Jay answered.

"We need you to take another witness statement at Med, the ambulance is rolling in 10." Dispatch came back.

Jay and I turned to look at each other rolling our eyes since we were a couple of feet away from Felix Burgers. "Nooooo!" I pouted.

"Copy that, we'll head back," Jay answered.

"I'm sorry, I'll drive us back once we're done." Jay rubbed my leg again.

"I'm so hungry." I grabbed Jay's hands placing it on my stomach as if he'd be able to feel my stomach grumble.

Jay rubbed my tummy. "I'll feed you soon baby." He laughed.

We were arriving at the hospital when we saw Brett and Foster at the front, Shaw was standing in front of Emily looking furious. The guys from 51 were all there.

"Stop stop stop," I told Jay, he stopped the car and I hopped out hearing Shaw threatening Foster.

"Detective, y/l/n." Boden saw me.

"Excuse me is there a problem here?" I walked towards Emily.

"Detective, I want to press charges on this woman for verbal assault and defamation." Shaw walked up to me cocky as ever.

"Is that right Dr.Jim Shaw, you want to press charges on this fine Paramedic just like you pressed charges on Helena Jameson, Lena Bright and Monica Thompson?" I stood my ground.

I watched as Shaw's demeanor changed, he was surprised I knew all of this but soon his face filled with even more anger than before. "I'm sure detective you're aware I won two of those cases." he remained cocky.

"The difference with me and all of those officers you were able to persuade is that I know these people better than anyone in this city Dr, and if there's one thing I'm sure of is that there is no way in hell I'm letting you ruin their lives." I approached Shaw. "So I suggest you get your ass back in the hospital and continue doing the job you're being paid to and forget all about Emily Foster because I promise that if I hear anything about you bothering anyone again... I'm rubbing your name in so much sh*t you won't even be able to get a job as a janitor." Shaw was speechless. I saw his eyes look behind me.

"I wouldn't test her man." I heard Jay's voice.

Shaw huffed annoyed but in defeat before turning around and heading back in the hospital. I felt Jay's hands on my shoulders before he kissed my cheek. "That was hot." He whispered making me smile.

Emily walked up to me, I could see she was struggling to find the words. "Thank you."

"Don't mention it." I winked rubbing her arm.

"That was badass, I'm totally getting you on speed dial after this." Brett laughed.

"Yeah, way to go Bear!" Kelly hollered at me.

"Hey, anyone gives you hell you know where to find me." I spoke to everyone."

"Thank you, guys." Boden nodded at both Jay and me.

"No problem Chief." Jay nodded back.

Jay and I were about to head in. "Hey, guys!" We heard Otis.

"Yeah."

"You should come to the plunge this afternoon." He wore his mischievous smile.

Jay nudged me. "No way." I laughed. "But thanks for the invite Otis, I'll come and watch."

By the end of the day, Jay and I were driving to the plunge to watch the guys take a dive and Jay was going to join in too. I noticed he had packed a really big bag of clothes and I just thought he had brought blankets and a bunch of sweaters.

We were late so when we got there the guys were already lined up ready to go in, I noticed Emily had also joined them, I went to the front with Jay so I could get a really good view of their suffering.

"You made it!" Emily and Brett were excited to see me.

"Yeah, I'm not going in." I laughed. I noticed Jay and Severide exchanging suspicious glances. "What?" I was afraid of what they were planning.

"About that..." Jay laughed.

"HELL NO!" I knew what they wanted to do so I started backing away.

"You're not going anywhere!" Antonio had stood behind me stopping me from going anywhere and when I tried to run forward Kelly had picked me up and plopped me over his shoulder.

"PUT ME DOWN! I didn't even bring a change of clothes I'm gonna die!" I was terrified.

"No, but I brought you an extra set of clothes, you'll be fine." Jay laughed.

"GO!" The announcer shouted and I wasn't able to do anything as Kelly ran forward.

I started yelling as I felt us getting closer to the water before my heart stopped as I felt the cold water slowly and painfully surround my whole body.

I rose out of the water shivering but laughing at what I had just experienced and seeing everyone else suffering the same way I was, yes I was forced into this but the guys knew I'd regret it if I hadn't done it and I was so happy to be a part of this.

Emily and Brett joined me and we all hugged laughing our asses off at the guys as we all sneakily made our way out of the water quickly. After the plunge, Boden invited us all back to the firehouse where Cindy had prepared some hot chocolate for us all and we all took turns hopping into a warm shower. Without planning it this was one of the best days of my life.
