《Halstead's Daughter》1

It was just a normal spring afternoon in Chicago until Maisie Halstead ended up in the back of Ambulance 61, with her Auntie Gabby and Auntie Brett and was now on her way to Chicago Med, and she is dreading bumping into her Uncle Will, who is most definitely going to end up calling his brother to let him know that his daughter is in the ER.
With the ambulance pulling up in front of the ER, Brett gets out the drivers, then walks around the back to open the doors to help Gabby get the stretcher out, so that I could be wheeled into the ER and the first thing heard was Maggie shouting.
"Dr Halstead, incoming for you" was what Maggie said, causing my face to drop, know my Uncle is going to tell my dad or is going to make me call my dad to let him know the situation. I'm a daddy's girl, always have and always will meaning he is overprotective of me because I'm his little girl. My mom is a little bit more lenient but has her strict parental moments.
Out the corner of my eye, I could see my doctor uncle walking over, so I grab my sunglasses out of my back and put them on, but I knew that wasn't going to work because Gabby was about to do the handover. "What have we got?" Will asked.
"Maisie Halstead, 17years old, was walking out of Chicago Central High School and was pushed on the stairs of the exit and started to complain of pain in her left ankle, she also bumped her head on the fall and is complaining of a slight headache. BP 120/66, GCS 15" Gabby stated and then helped me off of the stretcher onto the hospital bed, before she left.
"Maise, what are you like. Does your mom and dad know you are here?" my Uncle asks me. "No, they don't. I was literally leaving school to head to the district, to go and see them like I do every day and then Miss little I'm perfect in everything Yasmin and her group of friends think it's funny to push me down the stairs in front of a majority of the school" I replied with tears on the brim of my eyes.
Will notices his niece is about to cry and pulls her into a comforting hug and tells her everything is going to be alright and that he is always going to be there for her when she needs him. "Call your dad and let him know that your in the ER, whilst I got and sort out an X-Ray for your ankle and a CT for your head," he said before walking away towards the nurses' station. I grab my phone out of my bag and dial my dad's number. It rings for a little while but then it goes to voicemail. I try my mom and it goes straight to voicemail. So, I decided to call my Grandpa Hank, because I know that he will always pick his phone up. Within two rings of the dialling tone, I hear a gruff voice at the other end of the line.

Hank: Voight
Maisie: Hi Grandpa
Hank: Maisie are you alright?
Maisie: No! I can't get hold of my mom and dad
Hank: Your mom and dad are out on a job at the moment. Why what's wrong Maisie?
Maisie: I'm in the ER at Med at the moment. I was pushed down the stairs outside the school, hit my head and somethings happened to my ankle. Uncle Will told me to call dad to let him know because I'm normally at the district by now but I'm not and I don't want my mom and dad to worry.
Hank: Once your mom and dad are back, I'll send them straight down to Med
Maisie: Thanks Grandpa, see you later
Hank: Bye sweetheart
Jay's pov
Just coming back from a job with my wife Hailey, we get back to the district and head up to the bullpen and I look into the breakroom to see if I can see Maisie which I don't because she is normally here right now, as she comes straight from school. Just then Voight comes out of his office and over to me and Hailey.
"You alright Sarge," I ask. "Jay, I have just had your daughter on the phone. She's in the ER, was pushed down the stairs at school, hit her head and has hurt her ankle. She wants her dad. Will is treating her." Voight told me as soon as I arrived back into the bullpen. "I'm going to go and be with my little girl. She may be 17 but she will always be my little girl. Babe, you coming with me?" I said. "You go, but I'll see her later," Hailey said before walking off to her desk.
I ran out of the bullpen quickly, got into the car and drove down to Med, but the run to Med wasn't going to be quick as the rush hour traffic was slowing starting to build up. But after 20 minutes of battling the traffic, I arrived at Med and went straight up to the nurse's station to ask about my daughter and to see where she is. "Hey Maggie, Maisie was brought in earlier, can you tell me where she is?" I asked. "Maisie is in Room 5" Maggie's replied. I said thank you and walked as fast as I could to be by my little girl. Once I got to her room, I could see her, just staring into space and not being the normal happy Maisie that she usually is. I walk into the room, grab the chair pull it up to her bedside pick up her hand and hold it. "Hey Princess, I'm here," I said.
Maisie's Pov
At the moment I am sitting staring into space, but I feel someone picking up my hand and then a voice saying 'hey princess, I'm here. My dad is the only one who calls me Princess and has always had since I was little. I just stop staring into space turn my head slightly to the left and see my dad sitting next to me, holding my hand to comfort me. Whenever I've been ill or had t go to the ER, I've always wanted to be with my dad. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom but when certain things happen, I just have that special bond with my dad.

"Mai, how did this happen? Grandpa Hank told me that you were pushed down the stairs outside school. Is that true?" Dad asked me in a calm tone. "Yeah, it's true, it was the usual girls that did this to me. Yasmin and her little crew. None of the teachers came to help me I had to call 911 myself. I was so lucky that it was Auntie Gabby and Auntie Brett that responded to the call" I replied, just as my Uncle walked into the room. "Okay Maisie, You have a minor fracture in your ankle, meaning you're going to have where a boot for 6 weeks and have crutches as well, just to keep the pressure off when your walking. The CT scan of your head has come back clear. You may experience headaches for a couple of days due to hitting on the ground but just take some paracetamol if you get one" Will told me and my dad. A few moments later, Will came back with the boot and put it around my ankle to support it, whilst the fracture heals. He hands my dad the crutches and then he helps me off of the bed and then my dad hands me the crutches, ready for me to hobble out of the ER over to dad's truck to head to the district.
When dad parked the truck in the parking lot at the district, he got out of the truck and walked around to my side, opened the door picked me up and carried me up to the bullpen, whilst I hold my phone and crutches. Dad buzzes us in and we head up to the bullpen to see the other members of intelligence. The first person to see me was my mom.
"Oh Maisie, you alright sweetie," she asked. "I'm fine mom, I've got a small fracture in my ankle and I have to wear this glorious boot for 6 weeks" I replied. "Oh, and dad carry me over to Uncle Ruzies desk so I can annoy him," I said with a cheeky grin on my face. So my dad carries me over to Adam's desk puts me down in the chair next to his desk and then heads over to his own.
"What's up Uncle Ruzie," I said as we did our special handshake. "I'm good kiddo" he replied and we started to make little paper balls to throw at my dad. When I'm at the district, me and Adam are the ones that annoy people the most but we both get enjoyment out of it. Just as I was about to throw a paper ball at my dads head, Grandpa Hank came out of his office and stood by the whiteboard, which has lots of pictures on, "What information have we got on the drugs case, near Chicago Central High School?" was the question Hank asked the unit. "Nothing at the moment Sarge," my mom said. I started to lean back in my chair, until 4 pictures caught my attention, as I was looking out the corner of my eye. So, I grab my crutches and hop over to the board to take a closer look at the pictures in question. I look at the pictures and I instantly recognise the 4 pictures in the top right-hand corner. I started to lose my balance, but my dad came over to me and put his arm around me so that I didn't fall. "Princess, what is it?" my dad asks me. "I know the four girls in the top right-hand corner" I stated. "Who are they?" Grandpa asks. "The first picture is the ring leader Yasmin Harrington, the second one is Holly Jameson, the third one is Kelsie Connors and the final one is Xanthe Ryans. I knew something was fishy about this group of girls. Always being so secretive, using what looks like burner phones, when they are in the school toilets, and not to mention, they are the ones that pushed me down the stairs outside the school. They torment me day in and day out because I don't have many friends and I spend most of my time studying and preparing myself for when I apply for the fire academy after I finish high school" I said to the entire intelligence unit.
