When Phoebe had gotten home that afternoon, she found Eva and Diego sat on her doorstep. Something that was unusual as they were suppose to be back with their mother.
"What are you both doing here?" Phoebe asked worried when she noticed Diego had been crying and Eva was visibly upset. Her mothering instincts had kicked in and she wanted nothing more than to comfort them both. Diego ran into her arms as soon as she was at the bottom of the steps and sobbed while Phoebe caressed his back.
Eva got up and wrapped her arms around Diego and Phoebe before explaining, "Mum came home with her new boyfriend and they kept arguing and wouldn't stop. We tried to get them to stop before a neighbour called the cops but mum just started yelling at us. Telling us how ungrateful we were, how much of a deadbeat dad was, how her life was ruined and that we were nothing more than a burden to her."
Phoebe took a step back and looked at them both, "Nothing she says is going to change the fact that you're both amazing children. I don't know what's going on with her but I do know neither of you deserved what she had to say. You have family and friends that adore you both and no one can take that away from you. Whoever her boyfriend is, it's clear to see that he's not a good influence. You both have a father that's done absolutely everything he can for the both of you and for you happiness. Whatever she's going through, she's brought on herself and you don't deserve having to hear her vile words. You're both incredibly strong, smart and selfless. Don't you ever doubt that."
"How dare she?! After everything she's put the kids through, she has the audacity to treat them like this?" Antonio yelled.

Phoebe took his hand, "Antonio, calm down. They just fell asleep and after the day they've had, I don't want them to wake up. I understand that you're mad but you need to calm down and think rationally. Right now, they need you."
Antonio practically collapsed on the couch in defeat, "How could she say such words to them? They're her children too and yet after the divorce, she's done nothing but try and push them away. I love Eva and Diego and I simply hate what she's put them through emotionally. They deserve better."
"I know they do. They wonderful kids that have been nothing but patient and understanding. They don't deserve the shit their mother is putting them both through but they're both strong and they will get through it. They have you, their Aunt Gabby and grandparents, besides I'm not going anywhere." Phoebe tried to explain.
Antonio released a shaky breath, "I can't let her keep doing this to them. I'm going to file for full custody. I'm done with her games. They need stability and a positive environment, clearly they're not getting that with her."
"You going to tell the kids?"
Antonio nodded, "Of course. This is their lives and they deserve a say in where they go but after today, I can't let them stay with her."
"They're lucky to have a father like you. Take it from someone that was raised by her father, as long as you love them and is there for them when they need you, they'll be just fine. You've got this. The kids love you and as long as you do what's right by them, everything will work out." Phoebe encouraged.
Antonio kissed her hand he was holding, "Thank you. I don't know what I'd do without your support."
"You have nothing to thank me for. I do it because I care about you and the kids. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere."
"I guess I can live with that."
"Good, because I'm not exactly giving you a choice."
"I'd expect nothing less."
