《Sophie Swan: P.L》Chapter twenty one:

"Paul! Leave some for everyone else. I get it your hungry but damn, slow down. Please."
Everyone began to laugh, as he finished stacking his plate and headed over to sit next to me grinning his face off.
I sit comfortably on the ground with the rest of the tribe and pack, chatting away with the girls and sometimes the guys. This is going to be the first I, and some others, hear about the Quileute's history and stories.
I watched as Jake walked my sister over and sat down in front of the fire.
"The Quileute's have been a small tribe from the beginning. But we've always had magic in our blood. We were great spirit warriors, shape-shifters who transformed into the powerful wolf. This enabled us to scare off our enemies and protect our tribe. One day, our warriors came across a creature. It looked like a man, but it was hard like stone and cold as ice. Our warriors' sharp teeth finally tore it apart, but only fire would completely destroy it. They live in fear that the cold man was not alone. And they were right. She took her vengeance out on the village. Our elder chief, Taha Aki, was the only spirit warrior left to save the tribe after his son was killed. Taha Aki's spirit wide could see that we would lose. The third wife was no magical being, no special powers but one. Courage. The third wife's sacrifice distracted the cold woman long enough for Taha Aki to destroy her. She saved the tribe. Over time, our enemies have disappeared. But one remains. The cold ones. Our magic awakens when they're near, and we sense it now. We feel the threat in our blood. Something terrible is coming. And we must all be ready. All of us."

After Billy shared the story, everyone went back to speaking and enjoying the night. Paul went off to get a drink and I turned to Emily and Sam.
"I'm going to tell Paul about the Volturi and how they want Bella and I to transition into one of them. I don't want to keep any secrets from him."
"We're here for you and Paul."
"We will protect you, Sophie. We won't let it happen."
I nodded before getting up and walking over to Paul. "Paul? I need to tell you something."
"Okay, what's up?"
"Why don't we head somewhere more private." We walked behind Billy's place near the edge of the forest.
"What did you need to tell me?" I looked over to the group, seeing that Sam was watching very intently in case anything goes south.
"Um, well remember when I went to Italy for a few days?"
"Yeah."
"Well, while we were there, saving Bella's boyfriend from the vampire kings. They said that Bella and I had to either be put to death for knowing too much about their kind or..."
"Or what, Sophie?"
"We had until graduation to become vampires."
"WHAT!" Paul began to shake, I heard Sam call out but I couldn't hear him.
I walked up to Paul and held his face in my hands. "Paul I don't want to turn into one of them. The Cullen's are trying to come up with a way where I don't have to turn. I don't want to lose you. I love you too much. I love you, Paul." I felt tears flow down my cheek. I pulled Paul into a hug and held him like I would lose him.
He stopped shaking and hugged me back. "I love you too, Sophie. I love you so much. I promise you I will protect you. You won't turn into one of them. We can get married, have kids, grow old together."

"You would do all of that for me?"
"I would."
I looked him in the eyes, feeling our faces become closer. We locked lips. Sparks erupted throughout my body. Paul is the one. He's the one for me, I love him so much and I'm not afraid to say it.
"Come on, why don't we join the group again? I heard they're bringing out cake and cookies."
He laughed and we walked back over to the group. Paul and Sam nodded to each other and we all ended the night with laughter.
*****
Tonight was the night of the graduation party, hosted by the Cullens.
I was dancing away with Jessica and Angelia when I saw Embry, Quil and Jake. I thought Bella uninvited Jake because of the kiss. Oh well.
"Embry! Quil! Come dance!" I called them over, leaving Jake with Bella.
We danced for around 15 minutes before we were pulled away by the Cullens.
"They'll be here in four days."
"This could turn into a bloodbath."
"Who's behind it?"
"I didn't see anyone I recognised. Maybe one."
"I know his face. He's local-Riley Biers. He didn't start this."
"Whoever did is staying out of action."
"They must be playing with the blind spots in your vision."
"Either way, the army's coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town."
"Hold up. What damn army?"
"Newborns. Our kind."
"What are they after?" I looked to Embry, catching his eye.
"They were passing around Bella and Sophie's scent. A red blouse and black cardigan."
"They're after Bella and Sophie? What the hell does this mean?"
"It means an ugly fight with lives lost."
"Alright, we're in."
"No. You'll get yourselves killed. No way."
"I wasn't asking for permission."
"Edward."
"It means more protection for you."
"You just want Jacob dead, so he'll stop trying to take Bella away from you," I mumble.
"Jacob, do you believe Sam would agree to an understanding?"
"As long as we get to kill some vampires."
"Jasper."
"They'll give us the numbers. Newborns won't know they even exist. They'll give us an edge."
"We'll need to coordinate."
"Carlisle, they're gonna get hurt."
"We'll all need some training. Fighting newborns requires knowledge that Jasper has. You're welcome to join us."
"Alright. Name the time and place."
"Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourself into."
"Bella, this is what we do. You should be happy. Look at us working together. You are the one who wanted us to get along, remember?"
After this little meeting, we headed back to the party. Paul is going to be mad when he hears that I'm in more danger than before.

Two Sides
Heroes and monsters are the staples of fantasy. Swords and magic, fairies and dragons, adventures and death; all things went hand in hand in some worlds not our own. Elaine Dawn grew up listening to those stories as a child, imagining, aspiring, yet as she grew she slowly lost her dreams and became detached from what the world could be, slowly becoming one with the world that was. Yet one night she found herself in a dream that became reality, and oh there they were; heroes and monsters, swords of steel, magic of tales, fairies and dragons of old, and adventures that held riches and death both. She had no fantastic magic, no supernatural strength. All she had was herself, her coin, and her life. But that was enough. As she stared into the distance, to the mountain-sized horrors of the night, she smiled and tossed her coin once again.

To The Far Shore
Post apocalyptic Oregon Trail. The apocalypse has come and gone. And come back again, and left again... nobody really knows how often. Nothing lasts forever, but nothing is ever completely gone. Which is a shame for young Mazelton, as his family has been around a terribly long time, and made an astonishing amount of enemies. Millenia's worth. So he has to run- from mobs, cannibals, soldiers, sailors, cholera, cattle, thieving sales-monks, starvation, mechanical horrors, vengeful spirits, negotiating your own marriage, and poison of every sort. Fortunately, his not terribly nice family has trained him well in the arts of core polishing. Or as you and I might know it- turning radioactive pellets into useful tools. And weapons. Updates Monday-Wednesday-Friday. Usual defensive tags applied. The goal isn't exactly family friendly, but you have probably seen worse on network TV. After the watershed. Not full blown HBO, let's say. This is the first novel I am sharing publicly, so feedback is very much appreciated and encouraged. Act 1 of the novel is completed, but do please let me know what works, what doesn't, and what you would like to see more of. Thank you, and Enjoy!
