"I'll have to go back to the pack today. The Alpha was impressed with yesterday's ball; he decided to hold a mate hunt tomorrow." He said with an amused smile

"Mate hunt? What's that?" I asked and he sat up

"It's the same purpose of yesterday's ball, just less classy. Haa! A mate hunt hasn't been held in years" he snickered

"What's going to happen if you don't find your mate tomorrow?" I asked and he just shrugged

"Nothing, I'll just wait some more until the alpha's ready to step down. That's when it's going to be a real problem. Luckily, the Alpha isn't going to be stepping down anytime soon" he said and lay back down on the grass

"You shouldn't come down for diner, the food will be sent to you" he said and walked out of the room, leaving the door slightly open. I walked forward to close it but a hand stopped me. I opened the door fully and saw a grinning Joshua

"Once again, you aren't supposed to be here" I said and folded my arms across my chest

"That's why we aren't staying here. Come with me" he held my hands and tried to draw me too him but I resisted

"Last time I followed you, I ended up almost getting killed" I said and pushed him a little

"I knew you'd bring that up"

"Then you shouldn't have come "

"I wanted to try my luck" he said with a smile and leaned on the wall

"I guess you aren't very lucky Joshua. Good bye" I tried to shut the door but he stopped me

"I listened to your conversation with the Prince" I opened the door to look at him, fully aware of the scowl on my face

"Whatever. It's none of your business" I said and walked to the bed

The smell of dust and old books invaded my nostrils.

This place hasn't been cleaned in ages

I walked further into the Library, tracing my fingers through the books

I'll have to send some slaves to clean this place since I'm going to be coming here more often

After more turns, I finally reached the small chair and table, located at the middle of the library, but there was a book opened on the table. I turned it over and read the name out loud

"The ancient book of spells..."

"Finally interested in becoming a wizard my dear Prince" I turned around and came face to face with Isabella "I'll take that" she said and took the book from my hands

"What are you doing here Isabella?" I asked as she sat down. She turned to look at me with a smile

"Isn't it obvious? I'm fishing!" she said and made an illusion of a fish, sarcasm dripping from her tone

"No need for the sarcasm Isabella" I said and the illusion disappeared

"I'm practicing some spells Devon. But the real question is, what are 'you' doing here?" she asked and stood up holding another book along with the book of spells

"You refused to tell me more about my mate problem so I figured I'd try to find out myself" I said and sat down on the chair with my legs on the table

"If that's the case, you should try the books over there" she pointed towards some books

"You could just tell me all I need to know..."

"And loose the chance to make you read a book? When was the last time you read a book Devon?" she asked and walked further away before turning to look at me and I shrugged

"Maybe 80 years ago, I have no idea" I said and she sighed

"Knowledge is power Devon. You need to read if you're planning on becoming a great king" she said and walked away but stopped halfway

"Maybe instead of only focusing on your mate, you should also worry about the reason why you need a mate" she said and left

I let out a sigh and stood up

I walked over to the shelf and scanned through the books

"The mate bond...nope, the unbreakable bond...nope, the rules of mating...maybe..." minutes passed and I still didn't find what I wanted, I decided to check another row

I took all the books and dropped them all on the table. Discarding the dust, I opened the first book and started reading
