"I can't believe this is the last time I'm going to drop her off at daycare" I sighed as Billie pulled out of the parking lot. She placed a comforting hand on my thigh.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled.
"Don't be sorry," I shook my head. "So, what are we gonna do in the studio?"
"We definitely need to record that song you sent me," Billie exclaimed.
"Ion' know, it's pretty shitty."
"What the fuck are you even talking about? I love it!"
"Okay okay," I chuckled, laying my hand on top of hers that was still placed on my thigh.

"Finneas!" Billie called out as we walked into the house.
"He's already downstairs," A girl I assume to be Claudia caught our attention.
"Clauds," Billie exclaimed, pulling her into a hug.
"Hey, how are you?" Claudia asked her as she hugged her back.
"I'm good," she pulled away, stepping back to stand beside me, "This is Carter. Carter this is Finneas' girlfriend Claudia," she introduced us.
"It's so great to finally meet you," Claudia beamed.
"You too," I smiled back.
"Alright, we're going downstairs," Billie announced before grabbing onto my hand and leading me through the beautiful home.
"Finneas," Billie called out in a baby voice.
"Hey," Finneas smiled, standing up from his chair. "Carter, it's so great to meet you, Billie doesn't shut up about you."
Billie proceeded to smack his arm making both him and I laugh. "It's great to meet you too," I added before my eyes scanned the huge room filled with equipment. It was like his old room on steroids. Better than any other recording studio I could ever imagine. My eyes shifted to the drum set sitting in the corner, looking completely untouched.
"You play?" Finneas caught my attention.
"Not really," I chuckled, sitting down in the stool placed behind them. "I used to fuck around with it when I was like...." I thought for a moment. I can't remember how old I was when I used to use drums as a way to drown out the screaming of my family members. "Probably like ten."
"Oh my god, play something," Billie practically squealed.
I shook my head with a grin but picked up the sticks deciding to attempt it.

Knowing how to play drums makes anyone 20 times hotter if you ask me. The moment she started, I was in udder shock. She just keeps amazing me. Once again I took a snap, sending it to Zoe and Drew.
help me
Wait what's she doing at the studio?
she sent me a recording of a song she wrote and we're recording it
awwwww
As I was beginning to type I received a private text from Drew.
Bil, can you come over tonight?
yeah is everything ok?
It's fine I just need to talk to you
i'll pick you up at 7
I realized the drumming had just stopped so I pocketed my phone, walking over to the couch as Carter followed me. "So, Billie showed me the recording you sent her and I couldn't resist making an instrumental for it."
"Oh my god, play it!" I exclaimed. I saw Carter curl up into a ball on the edge of the couch as Finneas started playing the instrumental he had made.
"Wow," Carter breathed out.
"If you wanted a different vibe I completely underst-"
"No," Carter interrupted, shaking her head, "It's perfect."
The smile on my face just kept growing wider. "Do you want to add some vocals?" Finneas asked.
"I-" Carter stuttered, still wrapped up adorably.
"Oh come on," I chuckled, pulling her arms away from her and pulling her off the couch. "I can plug my ears if you want."
"You've already heard me sing loser," she joked, our hands still clasped together.
"Then why are you so shy all of a sudden?"
"I don't know," she took a deep breath.
"You wanna start from the top and just go through it once to feel it out?" Finneas asked as he handed her a set of headphones.
"Yeah," she nodded, placing the headphones on and walking towards the microphone.
"Awesome," Fin agreed and I plopped down on the couch, secretly filming this because she's adorable right now.
"Yesterday is over, it's the first day of my life
You look so fuckin' pretty, and I know it's not the wine
You spin me 'round in circles underneath your starry eyes
And now, I feel alright
And now, I feel alright" she started, her voice a little shaky, I'm guessing the nerves getting the best of her.
"'Cause you're so fuckin' special, oh
And I don't wanna let go, oh
Advertisement
'Cause now I think I'm lookin' at you like it's the very first time
You're just so fuckin' special
So I never wanna die, no
I never wanna die" she belted and my eyes grew wide as she finished, the instrumental coming to an end.
"That was..." Finneas started, obviously thinking up the words to explain how amazing that was, "better than Billie."
"I'll fight you," I gave him a death glare.
"I'm kidding. Your voices are polar opposites and there's no way to compare them."
"True," I agreed. "That's why we sounded so good together the other day," I grinned, looking up at Carter who now had beat red cheeks.
"So... ya'll really mean all that because I hate those people who think they can sing but literally have no grasp on pitch" Carter explained.
"You hit every note perfectly," I exclaimed.
"I didn't finish the Instrumental because the recording had ended and I didn't know how many verses and choruses you have. Do you have the lyrics written out?"
"You want to record the entire song?" Carter asked with wide eyes.
"I'm down," Finneas shrugged. Carter looked back at me with questioning eyes.
"I only got plans at 7, let's finish this!"

As Finneas was finishing up a few of the final touches Claudia walked downstairs with a smile on her face. "Hey, how's it going down here?"
"Great," I answered.
"Shit, we gotta go Bil," Carter exasperated.
"What's the time?" I asked.
"Five," she answered, gathering her things together.
"Oh damn, alright," I frowned, wishing we could stay here for hours longer.
"Thank you for everything Finneas," Carter thanked him.
"Of course. I'll send it to you when it's done," he smiled.
"Claudia, I look forward to getting to know you more."
"Same," Claudia smiled.
We both grabbed our bags and made our way out to the car, once I pulled out of the driveway I realized how hungry I was. "You okay if I stop for some food?"
"Actually, I could use some food," Carter agreed.
Only a few minutes later we were sitting in my car in front of Taco Bell, both eating before having to go pick up Hazelee.
"You got lettuce in your hair," I chuckled, pointing to the top of her head.
"Are you for real?" She huffed, blindly reaching in her hair.
"I'll get it," I reached forward, grabbing the lettuce she somehow got on the top of her head. "How the fuck did you manage that?"
"I don't know," she giggled softly, our faces inches apart.
"You know, you're like...perfect," I whispered, softly grabbing her chin.
"Lies," she pursed her lips before placing her hand on my cheek, attaching our lips in a deep kiss.
Only seconds later she pulled away, "we gotta go get Hazelee," she frowned.
"Right," I nodded, turning back towards the steering wheel.
After picking up Hazelee I parked in front of her apartment building, waiting for her to get out. Though she seemed like she was in some sort of daze, staring into nothingness.
"Carter?" I questioned softly, resulting in her snapping her head towards me.
"You okay?"
"Y-yeah, just tired." I could tell she was lying.
"Hey, everything will be okay. I'm so sorry tomorrow is the one day where I'm booked doing press."
"It's good, It's fine," she stated plainly before stepping out of the car and getting Hazelee before she walked up to my window.
"I'll see you. Text me, okay?"
"Mhm," she nodded before walking away. My eyebrows faltered as I watched her and Hazelee walk inside the building. It's like a flick was switched after we left Tacobell. Like all her hope and happiness were sucked out of her.

"How does Slurpees sound?"
"Sure," Drew nodded. I parked at the 7/11, the sun slowly setting by the time we walked back to my car with Slurpees in hand.
"So what did you want to talk about?" I questioned as we were back in my car.
"Carter," she stated.
"Carter?" My brows furrowed.
"I used to know her."
"Huh?" I set my Slurpee in the cupholder.
"I'm worried about you hanging out with her so much an-"
"Wait wait, when did you know her and why are you just telling me now?"
"I knew her in grade 12 and I thought maybe she had changed."
"Are you serious?" I scoffed.
"Yes Billie, hear me out, she's not a good person," Drew pleaded.
"Why? Huh? Why?"
"She's a drug dealer, her-"
"Have you gone psycho Drew? I'm taking you home." I interrupted, clutching the steering wheel and speeding back to her house. Drew isn't someone to keep secrets or makeup lies so at this point I don't know what to believe. But Carter a drug dealer? I just don't see it.
