CHAPTER III :
Haunted In
My Sleep

【 𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘖𝘝 】
To be honest, I don't really want
a bodyguard, my father and my grandfather never had any
bodyguards so why should I?
But since Ayaka already put in the effort, and all of them have taken their time to present themselves for me.
It would be rude to decline them.
All of the candidate guards are good. And as Ayaka said, they have served under her agency for years and they have never failed at their job.
Its just a matter of preference now.
Emi is skilled in sword fighting. Although, personally, I don't prefer being protected by a sword.
It has its merits. Admittedly, a sword will surely cut someone. But we're no
longer at feudal times.
Which is why Aurum, for me, appears
to be a good choice. Like Ayaka said, she's very skilled with guns. And she
has impeccable aim. And apparently
can create explosives...?
I don't really think that's gonna
come in useful someday. Its not like
we're fighting in a war or something.
I used to sneak out to the mall, and
I've never been kidnapped or hurt
or anything. So I think explosives
are a little bit over-killed...
Which makes me think that Alice is the best choice. Being protected by martial arts is milder in comparison to being protected by a gun or a sword. Alice is
the goldilocks zone between Emi and Aurum, atleast in terms of my preference. I'm sure the others
are talented aswell.
But it's clear that Alice won.
Y/N : "I'll choose Alice." I announced.
I looked at Alice,
and she simply
looked back at me.
Ayaka : "Pleasure doing business."

Its now night time, I'm in the halls
and I'm watching the butlers.
I finished signing the contract with Ayaka and Alice earlier in the morning, Alice is prohibited from carrying any firearms because she'll defend me with just martial arts. Which is what I want.

I think a gun or a sword is a bit over
the top since there has never been
any kind of threat against my life.
And I don't think there ever will be.
After the signing of the contract,
Alice is moving right away to my mansion. Which is now.
The butlers are now moving the
baggage that Alice brought.
Clothes.
Books.
Little pieces of furniture.
And gym equipment.
It seems that the butlers are
struggling with the gym equipment-
But Lucius hastily helped them
move the gym equipment inside
the spare room. The spare room is where Alice will be staying, it's just some few distance away from my
bedroom. It seems reasonable
that my personal bodyguard's room
is in close range from my bedroom.
"Thank you, sir, for choosing me."
I heard a voice come from beside me.
I looked and saw Alice.
Y/N : "Oh- Alice- It's no problem.
You were the best choice afterall."
She nodded at my response.
Looking straight into my eyes.
I looked away, fidgeting about.
Her gaze makes me feel very uncomfortable, perhaps I should
have chosen Aurum instead-
Oh wait-
Aurum's gaze isn't any better.
And her smile is very scary.
Damn.
I'm stuck with Alice afterall.
Alice : "Something bothering you, sir?" Her voice snapped me
out of my thoughts.
Y/N : "O-Oh- Yes- I mean no! No-"
I nervously fumbled.
Alice : "Okay...?"
I looked away with a hot
face, slapping my forehead.
While I was dying in a pool of burning embarrassment, a butler approached us.
"Master Y/N, Miss Alice, we
finished moving the baggages."
The butler informed us.
Y/N : "Thank you." I thanked
the butler, now recollecting myself.
I turned to Alice.
Y/N : "You can stay at the room now, Alice. Please feel at home."
Alice : "Thank you."

I watch Alice enter her room as
the butlers walked away, finishing
their job. As Alice disappeared
from my sight, I spotted Lucius
walking towards me.
Lucius : "Y/N..." He said my name between pants, sweat pouring
out of his forehead.
Y/N : "Oh wow, you're sweating alot-"
Lucius : "Yeah... We finished...
Anyways, I'll be at the living room.
You should probably get some
sleep, it's getting late."
Y/N : "You're right."
Lucius : "Goodnight, Y/N."
He then walked away.
I sighed, today's business is finished.
I now have a personal bodyguard.
How interesting...
I walked in the halls, passing by the door of Alice's room. It was shut.
I wonder what she's doing...
I continued walking until
I arrived infront of my room,
opening the door,
I entered and
I quickly flopped down to my bed.
I gaze out the windows,
looking at the night sky,
watching the stars glow.
Y/N : "How beautiful..."
I closed my eyes.

My skin shuddered at the
sound of my father yelling.
"Sorry father..." I weakly apologized.
Looking down at the wooden floor,
where broken pieces of a porcelain
cup were scattered inside a
small puddle of coffee.
"Can't even deliver a
cup of fucking coffee."
"I'm sorry..."
"Sorry won't work on
the real world, boy."
" I'm sorry..."
"Didn't you hear me? Don't
tell me you're deaf as well?"
I bit my lower lip,
desperately holding
my tears back.
Despair was eating me, but it was interrupted as Alice entered the
room. She was focused on installing
a silencer on her pistol.
My father saw what she
was doing and immediately
stood up. Screaming for help.
"Butlers! Get here!"
Alice finished installing the silencer.
She calmly aimed the pistol towards
my father's head, shooting him.
The shot, despite the silencer,
resulted into a loud bang,
which transformed into
ringing. Buzzing. Inside my ears.
Like a bee stuck in my eardrums.
Buzzing.
Ringing.
Buzzing.
Ringing.
Alice stared at me, extreme fear and anxiety building up inside my stomach. It feels like the world is spinning. The blood of my father spilling on the floor, mixing with the puddle of coffee. The silencer on Alice's gun tightly fitted.
I held my head, trying to cope with
my head now throbbing, aching.
Sweat was running all over my body,
my clothes soaked in my sweat. As if
it couldn't get any worse, the ringing intensified, intensified, intensified.
My eardrums are bleeding.

Y/N : "AAAAAAHHHHH!!" I screamed out in absolute fucking terror,
I immediately sat on the bed,
frantically looking around to check
if the world is spinning, it was not.
Y/N : "Shit... It was a weird nightmare..."
I started massaging my eyebrows,
taking in slow and gentle breaths.
Feeling my body tremble,
under the sunlight which
enters from the windows.
Y/N : "Fuck... I've been
having nightmares lately..."
The door made a loud bang, aggressively opening.
Alice : "Who's there!?"
I looked at Alice with weak eyes.
Alice : "Oh... Is something wrong, sir?" She questioned as she looked around.
Y/N : "N-No- Just a nightmare.
Sorry If I woke you up..."
Alice : "What happened?"
I looked at Alice,
her lips were blank,
her eyes were emotionless,
but her eyebrows were gently
furrowed with concern.
Y/N : "Don't worry- It's nothing,
just some nonsense nightmare."
I lied to her, I don't want to worry
her that I saw her in my dream,
shooting my father's head.
It would be foolish to scare
my new bodyguard like that...

The Demon’s Bride
Elise had about to change into the dress that was lying on the corner of her bed when she heard a knock lightly calling from her door. Curious, she turned the door knob only to have a tall man towering in front of her.«Master Ian!» She called.Ian smiled with the usual mischievous smirk that he always used. His crimson eyes trailing a little over her room and spotted the black dress over her bed and shifted his eyes over to the woman in front of him. He stepped forward and spoke. «Where did you acquire that dress?»«Mr. Harland gave it to me.» Elise replied and strained her neck to see Ian’s brows knitted in its elegance.«Do you know why a man would love to give a woman a dress?» He gave the riddle that she always had to think twice before replying. But this time, she found no answer and instead shook her head. «I don’t know.»His grin grew bewitching as though something had stirred deep inside the scarlet eyes that he had. He slowly slid his hand over the collar of her dress, sending a cold shiver that startled her for a moment due to its freezing temperature. After unbuttoning the first two buttons on her collar, he tilted his head down, whispering to her ears. «Because they want to be the one to undress the cloth.»He paused and kissed her neck, turning the pale skin to red before retracting his move to fix his eyes on her and leisurely replied. «Unfortunately, you can’t wear the dress over there with this.» He chuckled and passed a box over to her hand. «And the fortunate news is I prepared a dress for you.»
