《Black Cat » The Vampire Diaries》It's D-Day

"Rise and shine granddaughter of mine." I hear Emily's annoying voice say as I was forcefully awoken.
"Leave." I mumbled grabbing my pillow like a child. Why did I have to deal with dead relatives again? Oh yeah, reborn as a witch. Thanks a bunch, universe.
"No can do, that communication device of yours won't stop buzzing and there are two vampires at your door." She replied, I could feel her rolling her eyes at my petulant attitude.
My mouth felt dry as if I had spent last night smoking weed, and my hair didn't smell great either. I wasn't wearing my comfy pajamas either, even if I fell asleep again it wouldn't be that comfortable.
"Alright, alright..." I begrudgingly said, sitting up on the bed. I was still wearing last night's get up, at least someone had taken my shoes off. Since I didn't remember going to sleep, never mind getting home, it was pretty obvious that I had passed out in the middle of a house on fire. "Eww, I smell like barbecue."
"And you look like a vampire fresh out of the grave too." Emily commented, her distaste rang loud and clear.
"Thanks." I sarcastically replied and grabbed my phone. It was Caroline, no surprise there. But It was 7am, she could have let me sleep longer.
"Take the call, take a shower and then go downstairs and deal with the vampires. They're making the rest of the witches chatty." Emily ordered.
"Who's downstairs?" I asked, hopefully not the Salvatores because I would need a cup of coffee and at least a shot of vodka to deal with those morons so early.
"The good looking Original that enjoys wearing suits and, from what I gathered from the conversation, the vampire you lot rescued last night." Emily replied, before vanishing to the Other Side.
I let out a sigh of relief, thank god it's not the Salvatores, before accepting the call. "Why are you calling me this early?"
"Duuh, it's D-Day Bonnie." Care replied, as if it was obvious.
"Dick day? Are you getting laid today?" I asked confused. "And who's dick by the way?"
"Very funny, I bet you haven't had coffee yet." Caroline said, sounding both amused and annoyed at the same time. "I meant that today's the full moon, as in the Sacrifice."
"Ohh, you meant Elena's Death day." I finally understood, and let out a small smile. "Suddenly my mood just took a one-eighty."
"Let's not joke around the imminent death of our friend, please." Care said, now she just sounded exasperated. "You are going to sacrifice John in her place instead yeah?"
"Only if he comes to die on his own, I'm not going to hunt him down on purpose you know." I replied, but I was counting on that. Canon did seem to happen one way or another, from what I had seen. I didn't show up at the dance, but somehow still went according to the plot. Then again, that party was all about killing ... well, me... except this time Klaus knew that I wasn't Elena's weapon against him.
"Fine, I'll take care of the details. Jenna is finally on the know, and since you made that deal with Klaus she should be fine." Caroline informed. "How do you feel? We got out after you froze the flames, which was super cool mind you, but you didn't wake up. I gave you some of my blood so be careful today."

"I feel like I crawled out of hell, and I smell like it too. Other than that, I'm fine." I replied, thinking about the previous night. My instincts were telling me something was up, and you don't ignore the witchy spidey senses after all. "What happened after?"
"Well, Elijah drove us back before he and Kol left. I put you to bed and got home just before my mom, and Enzo said he would find somewhere to crash for the night and that he would come to see you today." She replied.
"Alright, I need to take a shower asap so I'll call you later ok?" I would think about it later, now I needed to hurry up before Emily decided to boss me around again.
"Sure, bye Bon." Caroline said, ending the call. I got out of my dirty dress and got my ass in the shower.
____
Half an hour later I opened my front door to find two vampires sitting on my porch, one trying to interrogate the other on the origin of his species and the other one giving one-word replies.
"So you can't turn into animals?" Enzo asked Elijah, somewhat pouting.
"No." The Original in a suit replied with a bored expression on his face, but I could tell that Enzo was getting a bit on his nerves. I decided to intervene before Enzo, who just got out of this world's version of a Hydra prison, lost his heart or his head to Elijah the fruit ninja.
"Shouldn't you both be sleeping in a coffin somewhere else instead of waking up the town witch at ungodly hours?" I asked leaning against the door while taking a sip from my coffee.
"Miss Bennett." "Maze." They greeted me at the same time.
I nodded back and forced a smile on my face. "Well, go on... what do you two need?"
"I just came to thank you, for rescuing me, and to ask what payment you require for said rescue." Enzo said first before Elijah could speak.
"Well, I did say you would owe me." I replied, tilting my head to the right to think. I actually had just rescue Enzo because Augustine sucked and because they were a potential risk to me and Care. "Are you staying in town?"
"For now I guess." Enzo replied, I was pretty sure the dude didn't know what to do with his recently found freedom.
"Then, as payment try not to kill the Salvatore's." I replied. Again this was selfish of me, but I didn't want Elena winning in my ear, or coercing Caroline to wine in my ear for her. Enzo's eyes widened before he snarled.
"Damon Salvatore is in town?" He hissed, which is legit since his best friend betrayed him and left him to die. Only that didn't happen, and he got more decades of torture instead.
"He and his brother, so torture him all you like but don't put him out of his misery since they still have their uses." I replied with a shrug, before adding. "I suggest you get acquainted with the 21st century first before making any moves, as well as investigate what your buddy has been up to recently." I didn't want Enzo to mess up with Elena's D-Day after all.
Enzo nodded, but I could see that he wasn't happy with my request, and used his vampire speed to vanish from sight. I turned to Elijah and arched my eyebrow as if silently asking what his business with me was.

"I believe we should discuss tonight's proceedings." The Original explained. I nodded.
"Come in Elijah, have you had breakfast?" I invited him in, and walked inside."I'm not tapping a vein, but I do have good coffee."
"Do you perchance have tea?" Elijah replied calmly as he followed me in, but I could see he didn't expect an invite to my home.
"Earl gray good enough for you?" I asked back and walked towards the kitchen.
Then again, I'm pretty sure I could revoke said invitation in the future if needed.
___
We were both sitting in my dining room, each with their drink of choice. Of course, I could also feel my lovely ancestors watching us like they were watching a tv show. I guess ghosts also need entertainment.
"I plan to let the Salvatore's and Miss Gilbert believe that the plan hasn't changed, but I believe there's no need for you to intervere in the sacrifice tonight." Elijah said, after taking a sip of tea.
"You mean you don't want me there so that I won't change my mind and attack your brother, right?" I replied, understanding what he wasn't actually saying.
"Don't take it personally Miss Bennett, you have shown yourself to be a friend of my family after helping Kol, but at the moment you are the only one in this town with enough power to meddle tonight." Elijah explained, observing me carefully.
"Don't worry Elijah, I don't want to be enemies with you or your family. Not to mention that the Salvatore's don't have anything that could make me change my mind." I replied with a shrug. "However, my non-action would put our deal in jeopardy. After all, it was a favor in return for my help in killing your brother."
"Indeed, but it is no longer the plan." Elijah replied. "Unless you have something that would serve in this exchange. Maybe, the location of my siblings?"
"Ahh, but Kol knows it too. Unless your brother hasn't been forthcoming with the information?" I inquired back. I guess Kol is holding a grudge too, so Elijah had to come to bargain with me.
"That would be correct." The Original in a suit replied, sighing slightly.
"And If I gave you this information, it would put me in Klaus's to-kill list." I said thoughtfully.
"I would guarantee your safet-" Elijah declared, but I interrupted.
"And he would put a dagger in your heart." I stated because it was indeed a fact.
"Is that something you have seen?" He inquired.
"Well, I don't need to be a seer to state the obvious." I rolled my eyes. "Nevermind the fact that he thinks you are out to kill him."
"I see." He said thoughtfully, and I guess he got the hint that a dagger in the heart was his near future. Normally nobody other than Care would guess my hints, and my blonde friend is the female American version of Sherlock. "What you suggest then Miss Bennett?"
Since I didn't exactly plan this conversation, I didn't plan on interfering with the future of the Original family much. However, change meant divergence from the plot and I guess that wasn't all bad for me. If I helped Elijah get his siblings out before Stefan stole them from Klaus, Stefan wouldn't get Esther's coffin either.
Tessa did ask me to stop Esther from walking amongst the living, which wasn't that hard since the Original Witch needed two Bennett witches to wake her ass up. Then again, I'm pretty sure Tessa had been reading my journal as I wrote it like a ghost stalker from the other side, maybe she meant it as in kill Esther after.
Either way, the only bad thing would be Klaus's rage. But there was a way, which in turn would make Klaus much friendlier and stop another future problem.
"Say Elijah, Klaus keeps your siblings in boxes because of the danger that Mikael imposes right?" I inquired cautiously because I could tell that no Original would react well to Mikael's name in the first place.
"Miss Bennett, what do you know of my father?" Elijah inquired, and I could tell he wanted to rip my head off.
"Hypothetically, if Mikael had been desiccated by a witch a few years ago and I knew the location of his corpse and I shared it with you, you could use that information to force your brother to finally release your siblings, right? After all, after Mikael's final death there would be no point." I said in a relaxed manner as if talking about the weather.
Elijah stood still like a statue and put his teacup down on the table. "If said information was reliable it would indeed proceed as you just said."
"Who knows, Mikael might even have that dreaded white stake next to his desiccated corpse." I added, landing the bait.
"I see." He said calmly, still looking like a statue, but I could tell by the look on his eyes that the always serious Original wanted to jump out of his seat and do a victory dance. "What would the cost be for such information? Hypothetically, of course."
"A promise of silence for one, under which no one would know where you got this information or who got Kol out of his coffin. And that favor I want for a rainy day I guess." I replied, thinking about what else I could get in return. I guess I could ask for money, but It would be bad form to get it from an Original. "And any information you have on Travelers and on the Gemini Coven."
"Done." He quickly replied, as if I would take it back. I got up from my seat and grabbed a pen and a paper from a nearby drawer. I wrote down the location of Papa Original and folded the paper.
"Then it's a deal, I won't show up tonight and I would appreciate the information as soon as you can find it." I informed him, putting the paper in from of him. He didn't open it, instead, he silently put it on the inner pocket of his suit.
"You have my word, Miss Bennett." He replied, getting up from his seat. "And I appreciate your help in this matter."
"Well, try not to get a dagger in your heart, and if you do, you better not pull a Kol on me." I replied, walking out of the room. "You can show yourself out, also, call me Bonnie. You're the old as dirt dude in the room, stop making me feel old."
With that done, I could feel a change in the air already.
______
I stayed the rest of the day home, minding my own business and ignoring all calls from the Salvatore's who still didn't understand that I wasn't going near that sacrifice mess even if they paid me.
Of course, instead, I used my nifty blinking ability to spy on the proceedings of the town. Such as Klaus's epic villain entrance in the Grill with Alaric and Damon, where he told them that the sacrifice was happening. I got huge throwback feels, It made me remember my past life where I binge-watched the second season in two days.
I then followed Damon and got to see him dramatically force his blood down poor Elena's throat. And yes, she still has that whole better dead than a vampire mentality while dating a vampire which, in my personal opinion, makes no fucking sense but since we're talking about a magical unicorn nobody would tell it to her face.
I know Stelena did something lovey-dovey in the afternoon but ignored them, instead, I went to check who Klaus choose for the sacrifices. Not sure who they were, but Damon rescued them and then got bit by the wolf. I guess there goes Stefan's future summer down the drain, I wonder what will happen now that Elijah as other plans.
I'm pretty sure they were just decoys, and Klaus was going to use Ben or Pearl and Jules, or one of her pack mates. We did make a deal, after all, and he better not break it or I would steal his siblings and wake them all up. Finn included, and that guy was a buzzkill when Sage wasn't around. I might even find Freya just for shits and giggles.
I watched the beginning of the sacrifice, and indeed curiously Klaus chose Ben instead of Pearl. I guess I was waiting for him to want three women as he did originally, but I guess it doesn't matter. Jules was the lucky wolf, or not, seeing as she got her heart ripped out. The only lucky one was Jenna.
I wanted to see what Elijah would do when he got here, but I heard someone knocking on my front door, which pulled me out from my out of body experience.
"Bonnie open up!" I heard baby Gilbert on my porch and opened the door. I wasn't expecting so many people, but I guess that's my fault too. There stood Jeremy with his most hated uncle John as well as Anny Fangy and her vampire mom.
"Well, well, well... I guess after decades the Gilberts finally made peace with vampires, it only took the youngest generation to start dating the undead I guess." I said, amused as hell. "Now, what the fuck do you lot want?"
"Well, I know Elena doesn't want to be a vampire so I talked with Anna and she said that her mom had heard about a spell from one of your ancestors back in the day. So we called John, who actually found the spell mentioned in Jonathan Gilbert's journal and... what I mean is..." Jeremy said, but by the end of it lost his guts.
"Basically you have a spell, and you're the one and only town witch." Anna finished for her boy-toy.
"Cute," I replied rolling my eyes. "it's cute that you think I'll just save Elena because of the goodness in my heart. But yes, I know that spell you mentioned. The one used to save a baby right?"
"Well, the spell implies you killing John here." Pearl spoke, before glaring at the human next to her. "I thought it would be more enjoyable for you that way."
I nodded but shrugged at the same time. "It would make it more enjoyable, but not more enjoyable than me in my pajamas tonight watching SpongeBob."
"What do you want?" John spoke out, for the first time.
"You seven feet under, but that wouldn't be enough." I tilted my head as if I needed to think. Actually, I knew what I wanted from this guy from the beginning. "How about the Bennett rings? Give me those and I might kill you using that spell you want."
"What Bennett rings?" He inquired confused.
"The fancy ring on your finger John, and the one that Alaric has." I rolled my eyes. "You know, things are normally named after their creators, not the people that use them. Calling them Gilbert Rings is theft, they were created by my ancestor Emily Bennett after all. It's only fair you return them."
"The rings belong to Jeremy and Elena," John said, refusing. "They are our family's property."
"I'm sure Elena would prefer a daylight ring after tonight John." I replied with a smirk, I hated this guy. "That ring won't be much use to her after she's turned into a bloodsucker."
"John just give her the ring, she's right it was made by her ancestors and we should return it." Jeremy said, glaring at his uncle who was screwing up their chances of negotiation. "I'll give you Alaric's ring tomorrow. Please, Bonnie."
"I'm waiting..." I replied, looking at John.
I swear to the Gods he growled as he took the ring from his finger, and threw it in my direction. I easily grabbed it, and smirked.
"So, I heard you came to die?" I asked, I sounded like Voldemort taunting Harry Potter, how amusing.
"Let me grab the Grimoire, salt, and candles. Let's do this outside, I don't want your corpse stinking up my place John."
--
Later that night, on the other side of town
Kol wasn't sure what Elijah was up to, his older brother could be extremely tight-lipped with his plans, which was annoying because Kol did not enjoy being left out of the loop. Kol knew that Elijah had left early today to see the impossible witch, but he didn't show up after. So nobody told him the plan for tonight.
Elijah knew that Klaus hadn't thrown him and his siblings into the depths, so why was he going along with the charade? It was like he was asking to be daggered. Although, Kol wouldn't mind if that was what happened. There was only so much nagging he could take after all.
But still, he wanted to know what was going on so he decided to spy on the sacrifice. Nik was finally going to be free from his curse, and Kol was happy for him (not that he would ever say it out loud mind you), even if he would have to listen to that "I'm the Original-Hybrid" spiel for the rest of time.
He saw Nik drink that carbon copy dry and let out a sigh, it's done. Expect Elijah appeared right after followed by the Salvatore brothers. Not the most powerful army brother, two idiotic young vampires.
"Elena!" The youngest Salvatore screamed out, heartbroken. While the older one used his speed to ran towards the dead body of the girl.
"I can feel it, it's happening," Nik growled as he fell to the ground. Kol could hear his bones breaking, he was turning for the first time in a thousand years.
