《Snape X reader -a fine line-》Chapter 29 (To drunk to think)

The rest of the day was spent without a single word except for the muttering from Severus to himself. It was evening already and they were just done with eating the pasta he had made for them.
(Y/N) was sitting in front of the warm fire with a book she had grabbed from one of the thousand shelves against the walls. Severus came back from the kitchen with a bottle of firewhiskey in his hand and held out two glasses.
'Want some?' She scrunched up her nose at the offer.
'You know I'm not allowed alcohol yet, right?' The corner of his mouth lifted a bit, almost making it impossible to spot if you weren't paying close attention and he shrugged his shoulders.
'I don't mind.' He placed the glasses on the low table in front of the couch and uncorked the bottle, pouring a layer in both of them. She thanked him and took the glass with less liquid than the other one in her hand. She swirled it around before taking a small sip. Severus on the other hand, didn't take it slow and downed the glass in one take like it was water and poured in more.
They sat next to each other on the couch, legs almost touching and Severus already downed seven glasses, beginning on his eights while (Y/N) was just pouring in her second one. The drinking was without exchanging a word like always so it wasn't unusual and (Y/N) didn't even try to make something out of it.
'I apologize,' he suddenly commented.
'For what?' she frowned at him, waiting for an answer.
'That it had to be like this,' he hiccuped drunkenly. 'That you have to hide.' She didn't think the booze would hit him so fast and always thought he had a high tolerance but apparently she was wrong. He wouldn't apologize for his actions because in his eyes, what he did was good but (Y/N) thought differently.

'It's okay. We can't change the past,' she sighed. The only sound was the clock ticking and it was pretty late but neither of them seemed to care.
'You know. I've never told you about my childhood. I didn't have any friends back then, only....Lily. She was the love of my life and she left me for bloody Potter. He and his little friends thought they owned the world but look at them now, three of the four are dead,' he said slurring his words and (Y/N) was concerned this might take a wrong turn, seeing that he's getting angry and also very drunk. 'Only the werewolf is left. He was the nicest of them all you know. He actually helped me when he found out that I was hurting myself but then he told the others and they tormented me about it. Saying I'm weak. Well, look at me now! I'm the one who is alive and they are dead.'
He was waving around with his glass, the liquid was flowing like little waves almost going over the edges.
'I won and the Marauders lose.' This was something that caught her attention. The Marauders, she heard that name before. It was when she overheard Mcgonagall and Dumbledore talking about Snape to leave the past behind. Severus stood up and grabbed the bottle of whiskey to bring it to his mouth.
'I think you had enough.' She tried to snatch the bottle out of his hand but he pulled away.
'No. I'm going to that werewolf and teach him a lesson.' He walked towards the fireplace to probably floo to Hogwarts but (Y/N) stopped him by grabbing his wrist.
'You're drunk. You should sleep, it's getting late.' She was behind worried at this point, afraid he might do something he will regret the next day after sobering up. She knew he was talking about Professor Lupin and (Y/N) actually really liked him but wouldn't say that to Snape to avoid argument. Severus tried to step into the fireplace but stumbled over his feet and fell to the ground. (Y/N) had to hide her upcoming laughter because he would kill her if he would remember it tomorrow. He would be absolutely huminialited to hear that he fell to the ground while being drunk.

'Come. Let's get you to bed.' She pulled him up and he was unsurprisingly lightweight. You could see it clearly and she was lying if she would say she wasn't worried about it sometimes. She even saw Dumbledore looking at him with concern in his eyes in the Great Hall when Severus would just pick at his food, trying to make it look like he actually ate something.
She held him steady around the waist with one arm while Severus was leaning against her so he wouldn't fall a second time. The way up the stairs was rather tricky but they somehow managed to make it up without any injury except for the bruise on her hip from bumping against the wall. She opened the door and turned on the lights, seeing his bedroom for the first time. He had one bed against the wall in the middle of the room which looked like a fairly large one. It surprisingly didn't have black sheets on it but green. The walls were grey and there was a wardrobe and a small desk opposite of the bed. Next to the bed was a nightstand with a book and some glasses on it. (Y/N) let out a gasp after finding out the potion master had glasses. The glasses itself were big and almost round but not entirely. The frame around them was black and it had a chain attached to them.
She made him sit on the edge of the bed and tried to remove his shirt but his arms didn't go up.
'Severus. Work with me, will you?.' He didn't move and was simply grinning at her with a drunken smile and (Y/N) groaned in frustration. Eventually, the shirt was off and left him bare chested and she took a brief moment to enjoy the view. She hesitated with his pants, not knowing if he would be mad tomorrow after finding himself waking up with nothing but a pair of boxers but she couldn't let him sleep in that. (Y/N) made quick work to remove the shoes and socks before unbuckling the belt.
'Please don't kill me tomorrow,' she prayed. The pants were removed and she lifted the covers from the bed so he could crawl underneath them which he did. (Y/N) tucked him in and gave a soft kiss on his forehead after removing his locks out of his face.
'(Y/N)?' he whispered.
'Yes?' She sighed, wanting him to go to sleep and sleep off his drunkenness.
'I love you.'

The Girl from the Mountain
Alexandra Bedford is a weapon, a young woman with telekinetic powers capable of leveling entire cities, born to fight in the desolate remains of post-apocalyptic North America. There is only one problem: she may be losing control of her abilities. Sixteen years after a global pandemic devastated the earth’s population, the lines in the old United States have been drawn between the Cheyenne Directorate in Colorado and the New England Alliance on the East Coast. The Directorate, of which Alexandra is a part, is a small but powerful organization dedicated to returning the country to its former glory. However, when a diplomatic mission to the New England Alliance goes wrong, Alexandra finds herself at the center of a bloody civil war. Battles are fought on the old highways and in dilapidated towns and once-great cities. And as the conflict escalates, all of North America faces the threat of being burnt away by nuclear fire. Against this backdrop of war, Alexandra tries to uncover the long-hidden secrets behind the plague, her abilities, and the two men fighting to decide the fate of the United States - Henry Bedford, Alexandra's father and leader of the Directorate, and John Martin, the mysterious figure at the heart of the New England Alliance who may hold the key to everything she seeks. None of this will matter, however, unless Alexandra can prevent the power growing inside her from taking over and consuming the very world she is fighting to save. Author's Notes: I appreciate you taking a look at my novel, The Girl from the Mountain. If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction, military thrillers, and/or cosmic horror, I think you'll enjoy this story. I completed the novel's first draft back in 2011 and made significant changes in 2016. Since then, I've more-or-less sat on the manuscript while working on other projects. Thanks to a bit of prodding, I've decided to send this story out into the wild with some touch-ups and additional revisions. I welcome any comments or criticisms, and I hope you enjoy The Girl from the Mountain!
