The Only One
Chapter 18
I keep replaying what happened last night over in my head.
I was minding my own business, grilling the steaks that Ian and Nash bought at the store and out of nowhere Monica walks through the gate into the back yard.
She was talking random nonsense to me and I wasn't even listening to her.
Then all of a sudden, she was just kissing me. It was nasty! I tried to push her off of me, believe me, I did, but it was too late, the damage had already been done: Hanna walked out onto the back deck.
Monica knew that too! Monica saw that Han had come over and she would do anything to break us up.
The look on Hanna's face was awful. She looked so hurt. I mean, who wouldn't! And the look on Monica's face was disgusting. She looked so happy, as if she'd achieved everything she'd wanted to.
I've tried calling Hanna so many times, and every time, she ignores me. I know her well enough. The only thing that she's doing right now is staying in her room, not talking to anyone. She's eating ice cream, and watching reruns of her favorite show.
I'm absolute mess right now too. I haven't finished packing everything I need and I didn't even make it to rehearsal today.
"Ryan!!!" I hear Nash call from downstairs.
"Ughhh, what, Nash!" I yell back, as he comes up to my room.
"Wow, you're a mess." He says.
"Thanks Nash." I mutter.
"Sorry... So, um, what's going on? Our flight is in 7 hours, and you haven't packed or talked to Hanna I'm gonna guess."
"You're gonna guess right." I say miserably.
"Well call her!"
"Nash, I've tried and she won't answer her phone. She doesn't want anything to do with me and I don't think she ever will."

"Well if she's just going to ignore you, why don't you go over to her house?" He suggests, totally ignoring the fact that she wants nothing to do with me.
"She'll get mad if I do that..."
"So what! If she's already mad, what's getting her madder going to do?"
"Um..."
"Yeah, nothing! So go get dressed, and walk to her house now!"
I sigh, as Nash walks out of my room.
I guess it's worth a shot.

When I get to Hanna's house, her mom's not home, so I quietly walk in the door and up to her bedroom.
She looks genuinely surprised to see me. She also looks torn. Torn as if she's happy to see me, but also as if she's upset that I'm here.
She wipes away the little piece of excitement that was showing on her face and snaps, "Doesn't my ignoring all of your calls show that I don't want to talk you?"
"I'm sorry Hanna!" I say.
"For what! Kissing your ex-girlfriend, who don't forget, cheated on you, or for breaking my heart?" She yells at me bitterly, but I can clearly see the hurt that's written on her face.
"I didn't kiss Monica! And I never meant to hurt you!"
"Then why did you?! If you didn't want to hurt me, then why did let Monica kiss you?" She asks, almost letting out the tears that are threatening to pour out onto her face.
"Han, she kissed me for a second before you came outside. I tried to get her off, believe me, I did, but I couldn't!" She looks as if she wants to break at any second to forgive me, but feels she can't. "You have to believe me, Hanna!"

"Ryan, I believe you, trust me, I do,"
"So you're still coming with us?" I interrupt.
"But I can't come with you."
"What?" I look up at her sadly.
"I want to, Ryan, I really want to come. It would be such a great opportunity, it really would, but I don't want to get hurt any more than I already have. I'm so sorry Ryan."
I give her a sad smile and kiss her on the cheek, "Good bye, Hanna."

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.
