《Taken》Chapter 44

We haven't really gotten anywhere in finding out what Liam was and what happened to his parents. Nor did we find any relatives yet. I was hoping we could have found one of these out in the last few days we've been researching but there was nothing. I didn't give up hope though. I was determined to make the boy happy.
Adam was taking care of some pack business so it was just me and Liam.
I gave up researching for now, deciding to spend my time with Liam. We were playing in the first building with some of Adam's old toys. Liam was having a blast playing with them, as much as one could be after losing their parents. But now he was winding down and growing bored of the toys. He just laid there on the ground, staring out the window. His dark brown hair flopped into his eyes and I knew he needed a haircut.
"What do you want to do now?" I knew he was bored and tired of staying inside, he had been getting restless, but he didn't say he wanted to go anywhere else so we didn't.
"I want to go outside," he exclaimed, "I'm bored in here."
I smiled nicely. "Okay, we can do that. I was wondering when you might ask."
His face lifted instantly and a smile grew largely on his face. "Really?"
I nodded, "yep. Come on. Let's go." I stood up from my spot on the ground and held out my hand to him. He quickly followed me and grabbed my hand. I went to the door and opened it to the stairs. They were out already so we didn't have to worry about taking them out. We were able to walk down them right away.
Liam was down the stairs within a few seconds, he had ran really fast down them. He was really eager to get down them by the looks of it.
I reached the bottom not to long after him and he was waiting there bouncing on the balls of his feet. As soon as I stepped off the step, he took off running.

"Liam!" I called after him and ran to try and catch up even though I knew it was pointless. "Wait up!"
Liam looked back over his shoulder and he did wait up for me, but he ran in circles in a ten foot radius. He was examining the trees and glancing at me every once in awhile until I caught up.
"Can I climb?" he asked pointing up at the trees. I looked at them all and then at one specifically he was pointing up. The closest limb to the ground was just even with my head. I looked down at the little guy who was half my size. "I don't know, are you able to reach it?"
Liam nodded eagerly, "yeah, I can. Watch." He came and stood next to me. Without using me or the tree, he jumped right into it. I just stood there stunned; all he used was his little legs and he had jumped into the tree with no problem. Who could do that? No creatures I've came across in my research could do that.
Without missing a beat, Liam turned around with a grin, "see? Easy. Now, can I climb?"
I was hesitant, I didn't want him to get hurt but he seemed happy in the trees and when we found him, that is where he was. I couldn't say no to him. "Okay, but be careful. Please?"
"I will!" He called and started climbing. This was definitely the happiest I saw him and I was happy I decided to let him climb. He kept jumping from branch to branch with ease as he went higher. About halfway up, he called down, "hey Mia! Watch this!" He started walking across a thin branch with no hands, balancing on it with ease.
"Liam!" I called up to him scared for his life. My heart was beating fast and my breathing sped up. I put a hand over my heart. "Get down from there! You're going to hurt yourself!"

He just laughed, "no I'm not! See!" He jumped onto a knew branch, laughing and swinging along. He had jumped from one tree to the next. He was fearless in the trees when he was like this.
He kept laughing as he jumped one branch to the next and one tree to the other. Every time my heart would pick up the pace when he did this. I made sure to stay under him wherever he went. This went on for what seemed like forever until he swung down off the branches.
"That was fun!" he exclaimed when he stood next to me jumping up and down. "Again?"
This time I shook my head. "Sorry, but I think that's enough for one day. What do you say we go back?"
"Okay!" he said upbeat, "if I can do it again tomorrow."
"Fine," I promised him, "you can do it tomorrow."
"Yay!" he yelled and back toward the tree house.
I swear, this kid was going to give me a heart attack one day doing all these dangerous acts. Without delay, I quickly raced after him so I wasn't to far behind him.
---
"Well, I have another thing you can add to the search of finding out what Liam is." I told Adam tge next time I saw him. We were back in the tree house in our own room while Liam was climbing up to the lookout point above the house. I kept my eye on him while I talked to Adam.
"And what is that?" he asked curiously leaning back on the bed.
I leaned against the wall and turned my head away from the window to look at him. "He has strong legs to jump into trees easily, and swing and jump from branches with no problem, and I guess we can say loves the forest more than anything. He prefers to be in trees." There was also something else but I wanted to hold off on saying anything until I was certain. That it wasn't just my imagination.
"Okay, this is good. Anything else?"
I sighed and looked out the window again. "Maybe? I'm just not quite sure. Did you fibd anything?"
"No. I can definitely rule out all the common paranormal creatures. What we're looking for I'm going to say is much more old, possibly believed to be extinct or not something you hear very often. It's going to take a lot more research than we thought it was going to take."
"Well, we haven't been at it very long so don't be discouraged. We have time. Did you find out anything about relatives maybe?" I asked.
"No," he sighed, "did you find out about anything with his parents?"
I shook my head and looked back at him. "No, but I feel like we're getting there. I think within the next few days he's going to say something."
"Well then, I guess we'll just wait till then." Adam stood up and came behind me, wrapping his arms around me. "We'll figure this all out I promise."
I leaned into him and closed my eyes for a brief moment. "I trust you. And I hope we figure this all out soon because it really is frustrating."
"I know and we will. But as I said, it's going to take some time."
I agreed with him and opened my eyes again to see how Liam was doing. When I did, I did a double take. Besides not wearing shoes while he climbed, there was something else. He was climbing up the tree with no branches. Not very well might I add but he was doing it. "Are those claws?"
