《The Younger Agent - Natasha Romanoff x OC》Chapter 57 - The Pieces Of My Soul

The day after they had told the Bartons about their engagement, Eleanor had wanted to ring Maria to tell her the news as well. Originally, the pair wanted to let Maria know in person but there was no opportunity to on the day of the hearing and they weren't leaving the farm for a while.
While Natasha was distracting the kids she thought that this would be the perfect time to contact her. Maria had sounded frantic when she first answered the phone, thinking that she would only be hearing from her in emergencies.
But when Eleanor revealed the true purpose of the call she went silent, before carefully saying "Congratulations" with a voice crack at the end.
"Ria, are you crying?", she said in a sing-songy voice whilst internally awing, she thought that Maria might get a bit emotional but not to the extent of crying.
"No...", her voice came through small so it was a clear lie, "I have allergies, El. Pollen count is off the charts".
"Yeah, I'm sure it is", she chuckled. "So, of course, me and Nat want you to be Maid of Honour". Maria said yes faster than the speed of light earning another laugh. "Thing is... we both can't leave and come back so we are having to do online shopping for rings and dresses and all of that, which sucks, but we can't go and get them, so as Maid of Honour... would you pretty please pick them up a week before the wedding and bring them over here? Clint has already said that you'll have a place to stay over the week and a bit so you're not travelling back and forth".
"Not a problem", Maria once again replied almost instantaneously.
"Thank you so much, you're a lifesaver. I'll send you the details for the shops later, we made sure that they aren't too far away from your place. Love you".
Now it was time to let Sarah know, which Natasha and Eleanor were going to do together. The call went well, and there were a lot of tears from Sarah and she told them that she would of course fly out as she "Wouldn't miss it for the world". Laura told them that she would collect her from the nearest airport.
Due to having it on the farm, they could only invite Maria and Sarah, but they were fine with that. Fury was off fighting HYDRA, and Steve and Sam couldn't know about the farm. But they had everyone that they needed in attendance.
The ceremony would be in a month, they wasted no time in picking the date and wanting everything sorted. Natasha didn't want to rush it too much but didn't want to leave it for a while either, not knowing how the next few months would play out or what would happen after. So, they started online shopping. Laura had told them to not worry about the venue set up as she and Maria were having lots of calls to do with that area, so they just had to worry about rings, clothes, and vows.
They looked into both dresses and suits, but ultimately the clothes that they were both separately drawn to the most was a dress. They weren't extravagant by any means, they wanted it to look and feel like a wedding, but also have a casual element to it especially as the wedding would be small and intimate anyway.
Natasha's white dress reached mid-calf, with a slit in it just off-centre. It had one thick strap on her right shoulder, so had an asymmetric neckline. Eleanor's white dress reached her knees, at the hips, it flared out slightly, it would look elegant to do a spin in, and it had an illusion neckline. Both suited them well.

The wedding bands that they got were the same, Natasha wanted to match, which Eleanor found adorable. The rings consisted of two thin bands that intertwined with each other, one of the bands was plain rose gold, and the other was the same but lined with white gems. A simple, yet elegant style.
With the orders placed, now all that was left to do was wait for the date.

Saturday 21st June 2014-
The big day had arrived quickly, almost too quickly, and the farm was buzzing with excitement. Sarah and Maria had arrived the week before so the house had been quite busy with the Barton's and four extra guests, but they made do and revelled in having loved ones together.
When waking up that morning they had all thanked their lucky stars that the sun was beaming down on them and that they weren't going to be rained on. They still would have gotten married regardless of the weather, but it was just nice that it went their way.
Natasha and Eleanor had been separated since the night before, Sarah was adamant that they follow that tradition. So, Maria was helping Natasha with getting ready, and Sarah was with Eleanor.
"You getting cold feet, Ellie?", Sarah asked as she put small white flower gems into Eleanor's freshly waved hair.
"Nope, just excited", she grinned at Sarah through the vanity mirror that she was currently sitting in front of. "Don't you think that the flower gems are a bit much?".
"It's what your mother had on her wedding day", Sarah shrugged as she continued the gem task. Eleanor's face immediately softened as she lightly smiled. "You look so much like her, it's scary".
"Good scary?".
"Definitely. If she was here right now she would be bragging to everyone", she rubbed Eleanor's shoulders before going to grab the dress of the day. Eleanor just stared at the small flowers with a newfound appreciation.
On the other side of the house, Natasha was having a minor freak-out. When Maria saw Natasha holding back tears with a blank face as she curled her hair, she was preparing to do her Maid of Honour duties and talk Natasha out of leaving her bride to be at the altar. But when she questioned if Natasha was okay she just gave a watery smile. "I never thought I'd get the chance to do this. Ever. And now I get to do it with an amazing person".
"So does she", Maria smiled and pretended not to notice Natasha quickly pawing away a stray tear. She may be an emotional person on their wedding day, but Maria didn't doubt that Natasha could beat her to death with the curling iron if she mentioned anything.
With both women now in dresses, it was time for the ceremony to start. Clint ran into the house looking very out of breath as Laura had been shouting at him to rearrange things all morning long. So, he walked into the kitchen grumbling about how everything looked fine to begin with, but he stopped in his tracks when he saw Natasha in her dress, nervously chatting with Maria.
Maria subtly slipped out of the door and into the venue when Natasha looked over to Clint, and he shook his head slightly to compose himself. "You look amazing", he brought her in for a tight hug, which she easily reciprocated as she squeezed him back. "I'm so proud of you". He had watched Natasha grow a lot over the last few years. He had seen every doubt, every success, and now he got to watch as she married her soulmate.

"Are you ready?", he pulled away and stood next to her, holding his arm out for Natasha to loop hers around. Clint was going to be walking her down the aisle. It was a no-brainer to her, other than Fury, Clint had been the only male figure in her life to look out for her. Of course it was going to be Clint.
Their arms linked and they slowly made their way outside. She first made eye contact with Laura as at that moment she was the only one standing out there, camera in hand clicking away as she took many photos of Natasha and Clint.
When Nat looked around her breath was taken away. The border for the aisle was made with hundreds of white pebbles, they were straight lines but due to the nature of a pebble it wasn't perfectly straight, but that just made it perfect.
Clint had thrown up a structure of beams overnight that lined both sides of the aisle with yellow fairy lights strung along them. On the right side, the beams continued sideways to make a square that stuck out that had a white canopy over it. A large circular table for them to eat at later was situated underneath, and the place was filled with flowers of all colours. Directly in front was a large, white wooden arch and standing at the altar was... Maria, who was very badly hiding a grin as she saw Natasha notice her.
Maria had told the two that she had sorted out the officiant. What she had failed to tell them was that it would be her. It obviously wasn't a problem though, and Natasha chucked slightly when she saw her, knowing that Eleanor would love it as well.
When Natasha had reached the altar, Clint gave her a quick peck on the cheek and wished her good luck before joining his wife in standing and facing the front.
A few seconds later everyone outside gushed as they saw Lila in a pink dress and flower crown walking out of the house holding a little wicker basket filled with flower petals. She smiled as she walked forward and messily dropped the petals onto the floor.
When she was halfway down, Cooper revealed himself as the ringbearer in his smart suit. He followed his sister down but unlike Lila who stopped to stand next to her parents, he went to Maria and handed her the rings, and then followed suit to stand at the front.
Natasha didn't think that she could feel any more blown away than she currently did. Everything was already so perfect, and so magical. It was overwhelming how much joy she felt as she looked around at everything and tried to take it all in.
And then it was Eleanor's turn, and Nat realised just how wrong she was. Joy practically exploded in her chest as she watched her fiancée walking arm in arm with Sarah down the aisle.
Tears definitely fell when they made eye contact. Neither of them could believe that they were here in this moment. It felt unreal that they had the opportunity to do so, the universe had been so against them over the last few years, but now they were able to reap the rewards of those hardships surrounded by the people that they loved.
When Eleanor reached the altar she let out a shaky breath as she smiled at Nat. Sarah gave her a reassuring arm rub before placing herself next to the Barton family.
Eleanor then turned to look at Maria and shook her head in amusement as she tried to hold in a laugh at how smug the woman in front of her looked. She didn't think about it too much though, as she immediately turned back to Nat who was looking at her with all the adoration in the world.
"Good afternoon everyone", Maria began, "We are here today to unite Natasha Romanoff and Eleanor Hughes in marriage. It is an occasion that I have personally been waiting for since 2009", she chuckled making everyone else follow suit.
"I have known these two amazing humans for many years now, and have had the joy of watching them grow into the people that they are today. I have never seen two people more suited for each other, just by being in the presence of them you can feel just how much love the two of them have for each other. It is a wonderful thing to be a witness to, and it is an absolute privilege to be able to call you my family. Now, I understand that you have prepared vows?".
Both of them nodded, and Eleanor went first. Neither of them needed to read from a sheet of paper as the two had an excellent memory and had spent the last few weeks making sure that they knew their vows word for word.
"Natasha... when planning this I didn't even know where to begin. I sat there for hours thinking 'How do I put into words just how much I love this woman, it's impossible!'. I have battled against aliens, and yet this was something that had me truly stumped". Both women gave small laughs at the comparison.
"To help me get started, I thought back to our first few months together. I remember thinking to myself, even back then, just how lucky I was to say that you were my friend. Your soul was just so... kind! And warm, you felt like a warm hug. I always thought 'Wow, this incredible human is willingly spending time with me!'. I vividly remember rambling to Clint about how awesome you were, and I know that he got very sick and tired of me. So, when I was lucky enough to call you my girlfriend, I thought my heart was going to explode, and I just wanted to shout it from the rooftops. I was so incredibly overwhelmed... in the best way possible. I never knew just how much I needed you until you were there.
Natasha Romanoff, you are my light, my happiness, and my love, and I am so lucky that I will get to call you my wife. I will spend the rest of my living moments loving you with every atom of my being, and I am so excited for whatever is coming our way because I know that with you every second is an adventure that I am so eternally grateful to be on".
The waterworks had definitely started now, with everyone. Natasha almost didn't hear Maria telling her that it was her turn to read out her vows, her mind had gone static after listening to the words that were just spoken.
"Right, my turn. I'm not sure how to follow that, but I will do my best. Eleanor, you... you saved me in every way possible. In ways I didn't even know a person could be saved. The only way I can describe it is you picking up the pieces of my soul and putting them back together along with pieces of yours to fill in the gaps. You are a part of me, the best part of me.
You are also my home. Whenever we are on work trips apart, I always think to myself 'I just want to go home', and that wasn't being back at base, or back at our apartment. I wanted to go back to you, wherever you may have been. You are this ball of sunshine that never dims, no matter how hard things have gotten, and I know that I can always rely on you to be you, and there are no words that I can say to show you how grateful I am for that.
The rest of my life will be spent protecting you and loving you. You're my person, Eleanor Hughes. I never thought that I would get to have a person, and I am so glad that it's you".
Eleanor had a similar reaction to Natasha, she had practically melted on the spot throughout that, and was surprised that she had not turned into a puddle yet.
"Beautiful words from both of you", Maria smiled, "Now, do you, Eleanor, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love and cherish her, in sickness in health, for richer for poorer, for better for worse, for as long as you both shall live?".
"I do", Eleanor grinned at Natasha.
"Do you, Natasha, take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together in matrimony, to love and cherish her, in sickness in health, for richer for poorer, for better for worse, for as long as you both shall live?".
"I do", she smiled back with just as much enthusiasm.
"Natasha and Eleanor have chosen to exchange rings with each other as a symbol that their love is unending, so, Eleanor, here is Natasha's ring, as you place it on her finger repeat after me 'With this ring, I marry you and bind my life to yours. It is a symbol of my eternal love, my everlasting friendship, and all of my tomorrows'". She did as Maria said and admired the ring as it sat on Natasha's hand.
"Natasha, here is Eleanor's ring, will you also repeat after me as you place it on her finger 'With this ring, I marry you and bind my life to yours. It is a symbol of my eternal love, my everlasting friendship, and all of my tomorrows'". Natasha gently slid the ring on Eleanor's finger and repeated the words.
"Excellent! By the power vested in me by the State of Iowa, I gladly pronounce you Wife and Wife, you may kiss the bride".
They immediately leaned in as their family began clapping and cheering. When they pulled away Natasha immediately brought Eleanor into a tight embrace as they stood at the altar and she never wanted to let go.
Nat smirked, "I love you... Mrs Romanoff".

The book of forever
An experimental diary of sorts recounting my life and experiences, written as a slightly whimsical scifi story about setting off from the past to unknown lands, rebuilding from nothing and finding myself again. The first section of the book contains matched chapters, a chapter for a interlude, both happening at the same time roughly The second section of the book contains more one off stories as we follow one of the travelers explore their heart as well as a unknown land, growing in the process. All of the text here was written in 10 syllable chunks, this reads like a epic of sorts, just with more philosophical focus and POV jumps. Hope you enjoy! >Updates may be sporadic as I only write when I have something about myself I want to share The chapters can all be read individually, although there may be some crossovers between them they work as single poems. You start at whatever chapter you want since these are a collection of roughly connected poems (although you'll notice tie ins and references to eachother)
