I turned around on my bed and groaned because sleep wasn't coming to me. It had been three days since I found out my mate was a human man. I didn't mind the man part because with my werewolf and Alpha genes I could have children no matter the gender. What I did mind was the human part. Some of the wolves in my pack had human mates and they seemed fine with it, but I wasn't. I remember my father telling me about my great grandfather and how his human mate almost sold this pack to the hunters.

They there the reason why my grandmother was killed and my grandpa turned cold and cruel. He was sad that his father changed so much and blamed the humans for it. He was focused on protecting everyone that he forgot about himself and almost collapsed, my mom had to make him stop it that would've killed him.

I sighed as I sat up on the bed and let my feet touch the soft floor mat around my bed. "This isn't going to work," I whispered to myself.

Of course not, you have to be with him. Maddox decided to make an appearance. Don't mess this up for me, please.

"I won't try to but I don't think I can trust him," I answered back. "And I know how unfair it is but I can't take any chances. I have a huge responsibility to lead this pack and I can't put anyone in danger because of me.

You don't have to. Just meet him as a normal human and get to know him. Maddox suggested. Give him a chance, before you reject our bond to him.

"Fine, but for now. Let me think." I mumbled as I got up and walked into the bathroom.

Thank you, Zechariah. Maddox mumbled before retrieving into the depths of my mind.

I turned in the shower head and let the warm water touch my back. It felt nice to just relax and think about what to do next. I didn't want to reject my mate, because it was a rare chance that I did, but that doesn't mean I can trust him and tell him about me later on if he has a relationship. He could betray me and have everyone in my pack killed. It would break my heart and I would be the one responsible for it.

I could start slow and get to know my mate before I decided to do anything but I have a feeling that we aren't going to get along very well. My mate seemed like a person who was very guarded and didn't like to open up. He seemed like he had bad experiences and he would never trust anyone. I like that though, I liked how he didn't just trust anyone and seems skeptical but hopefully, it wasn't too much because it can be bad too.

I turned off the water and wrapped the towel around me. I dried my hair and body then threw the towel in the hamper before changing into a pair of shorts and going back to bed. When I laid back down, I yawned loudly and smiled a bit. I felt light after that shower.

I guess it's decided then, I would have to get to know my mate more.

"Alpha?" I head someone in my room. I turned around towards the voice and slowly opened my eyes to see a pack huntress. "Good morning."

"Good morning," I groaned as I got up and stared at her. She was in her hunting uniform, a human one. "What is going on? Why are you in my home?"

"Well, Beta Luke wanted me to wake you up and tell you that he and you have to have a meet about something important at nine am." She answered and she bowed. "I'll be on my way, now. Have a good day, Alpha."

I nodded as I got up and walked to the bathroom to get ready. When I was dressed I made my way to the kitchen to grab something before I went to talk with Luke. I already knew what it was about, my mate. He was probably worried that I would just bring a human into the pack and it could end in a bad way. Which I would never do because I wasn't that careless.

I bit into a piece of toast and went to get a glass of apple juice then made my way out the door and locked it before walking to the pack house where the meeting with Luke was being held. As I stepped into the doorway a chorus of 'good morning, Alpha' came and I replied them with a 'good morning' before walking away towards the room. It was about eight fifty am (8:50 am) when I walked into the room. Luke and Gina were waiting there and they both greeted me politely before we all sat down.

Luke looked kind of nervous as he looked at me. "What's this meeting about ?" I asked, breaking the silence.

"Well," Luke spoke. "We just wanted to know what you're going to do about the 'Mate' situation?"

"First, don't put quotes on mate. And second I have decided that I would like to find out more about him before rejecting our bond. And no, I won't be reckless and tell him right away that I am a werewolf." I crossed my arm and leaned back into the chair. "I want to get to know him a human before I decided anything further. I've been waiting for my mate for a long time and I can't just let him go."

"Do you don't mind that he's a guy?" Luke asked.

"Not really, the moon goddess chose our mates for a reason so why would I go against her and deny myself a mate. It's very rare that we find out mate before they could be either dead, have not been born, or we just can't find them. I found mine and I am not letting him go." I answered honestly and nodded to myself.

"That's very romantic," Gina cried out. "Good for both of you."

"Both?" Luke and I questioned. Luke glared at her and she just shook her head.

"I am not afraid of you," she said to him, then turned to me and said, "Luke found his mate like two weeks ago."

"Why didn't you tell me? And you were all over the boy and girl back in the club about five days ago." I looked at him disappointed. "Who is your mate?"

"I didn't tell you because I didn't want to accept him. He another wolf from another pack." He mumbled the last part as I stared at him. "He's not an Alpha but he's way bigger than me, and stronger which means I bottom! I can't do that!"

Gina and laughed at his outburst. Luke huffed and sat down, glaring at both of us. It reminded me of the day when we had a fight as children over a shiny rock. "You'll do just fine. And just because he's taller, stronger and muscular doesn't mean he has to top. Don't stereotype him before you know him." I answered with a smirk.

"Oh, I didn't. When we first met, he told me and that, 'he'd fuck me into oblivion.' Who the fuck says that?" Luke flushes with embarrassment. "A person who tops."

"You'll do just fine." Gina laughed as she stood up.

"Gina, I need you to find out more about my mate and drop the file on my desk in two days," I told and she nodded, bowed and left the room. Then I turned to Luke. "Don't worry too much, just give him a chance."

"That's what I am afraid of," Luke mumbled. "Last time I gave someone a chance he almost raped me."

"Don't think about that douche bag. He was just a horrible person who didn't deserve your trust, but your mate will be different." I walked over to him and patted his shoulder.

Luke looked up at me with tears eyes. "How do you know?" He asked with a shaky voice. Luke was the crybaby out of the three of us, he was weak as a pup but he has grown and become much stronger but Gina and I are very protective of him because we don't want him to get hurt, again.

"I have a feeling that he'll be good for you," I said with a smile as I pulled him into a hug. Luke snuffed as he laid his head on my chest. "And if he turns out to be a dick, Gina and I will make sure he doesn't have one."

Luke pulled away with a laugh. "Good to know you guys have my back." He wiped his stray tears and smiled at me.

"We always have your back, just like you have ours." I smiled at him. "Now let's get going, I have a mate to find and you have a mate to...do whatever."

"That sounds wrong." Luke laughed as we headed out the door.

"You think wrong!" I shouted as we parted ways.

I shook my head with a smile. Who would've thought that a talk with Luke would make me decide that I wanted my mate.
